Absolute GEM! So accommodating and it feels like a place where I could get comfy!…read more We had a Kilkenny and a Jameson and ginger ale, I didn't even have to explain myself!! The kitchen had just closed but they made an exception for us, and we got a steak and ale pie and butter chicken! So epic! Will update after the dinner!

I can't speak for the food, but the brew here is pretty good and headlined by the typical German Pilsners. The overall ambiance and vibe make this little pub a hidden gem. Server was good when available, but way understaffed, 2 ladies for the entire rear restaurant area. Neighborhood is marginal, food is passable, greasy fish and chips, under-seasoned lamb shank, soggy nachos. Didn't try the bacon cheese burgers, but they looked ok. 4 burgers, 5 beers, nachos, loaded fries, 2 fish and chips, 1 lamb shank, about $300, plus tip.

Nice ambience and staff all speak English and are good at suggesting dishes to try! Beware portions are large - even by American standards!! My partner and I got 2 apps and a main to share and could not finish. We got the hand cheese music(?), beef sausage salad and a mushroom schnitzel. The schnitzel was by far the star of the show (as we should have expected)! The cheese is famous so we had to try it but sheep's cheese is a bit too strong for me and it had a harder texture than I prefer. My partner liked it though so I'd recommend giving it a shot if you're adventurous!! We also got their homemade lemonade which was a fizzy raspberry lemonade. Pretty good as well but wish I had tried one of their ciders!

They're trying to stick to the monastery beer vibe but it doesn't hit the mark in that regard. The old place was cozy and old and felt authentic, this place is new, loud and generic. Maybe it's not so bad and I'm sore because I miss the old place but it just doesn't feel the same. Service was good, food was good, beer cold but it still feels like every other place out there. Probably won't be back, unfortunately. If you like well lit, upscale, generic restaurants try this one out. The food is good but the ambience is off.
