I switched him to a fantastic pediatric gi dr at UC Davis and on the first visit we had a diagnosis. Plus they charge for every phone call even when she told you to call her. Wish I believed them myself 3 years ago when I put my son under her care just because she believed in the power of nutrition. BTW she's just a pediatrician, not a GI doctor. I never knew that. After her insisting on doing a major surgery for my son and 4 other opinions opposing her way, we called it quits with her and her office. UCDavis GI Ped Surgeon refused to do the surgery, saying it was unnecessary. My heart was totally unsettled to hear anything from her anymore and took my son somewhere else. Her STAFF are inefficient with their skills and their knowledge of insurance. My husband and I had to spend time explaining things related to insurance and approvals EVERY SINGLE TIME. Oh, also very hard to get a hold of them when you really really need them. BILLING DEPARTMENT from a call center in India are excellent when it comes to chasing you for copays and bills. Lots of good GI doctors out there. My rule now is to check if the doctor is board certified, so that I make sure it's a GI Pediatrician and not just a pediatrician. Good riddance. read more

My child's pediatrician referred us here due to my daughter having stomach pain after eating and my son having something going on with his throat and constantly clearing it and coughing (here we are 6months later with still no solution) I came to my scheduled appointment early like I was told to fill out new patient paperwork. I had to pay my copay with my card and the lady at the front couldn't get the card reader to work causing us to wait to go in and see the dr. Finally after about 5/10min it worked and she was able to run my card and they took us to the back. Soon as Dr. Yinka comes in she tells us that we were late and she's going to try and squeeze us in as much as she can and we told her no we weren't late that the card reader wasn't working for the lady at check in. Then she's like oh?! No apology or feeling like she said anything wrong (I thought that was very rude) anyway she goes on about how my kids need to get off cow's milk and how it's not good. To do oatmilk or almond milk for them and cut out all dairy and how sick my kids look and that my 10yr old is overweight. She just gave me the impression that she was trying to push the way she eats on other people because I didn't feel that was the reason we've been going thru wat we have with my son and neither did the pulmonary dr wen i told her about our visit with Dr.Yinka. Especially because she hadn't even touched my kids or examined them. The appointment was about 15min long and she walks us out to make a return appointment and was even rude the way she talked to the girl that was helping us schedule the appointment. Other down sides are 1. The hours of operation aren't for working families. They close too early especially for myself because I work graveyard. 2. The staff doesn't speak clear English so it's very hard to communicate with them and understand their heavy accent. 3. I took my kids to get blood work at quest and she gave me paper orders to take with me to quest and I spent 1 hour there because they were having issues with the paper order, having to print labels to put on tons of vials. They were telling me that the amount of blood she ordered for my daughter would make her anemic so they only took wat they could and I'd have to come back and poke my 3yr old again! It was just a hassle there at quest because she didn't send the orders electronically. I never took my kids for a follow up. I just asked to be referred elsewhere because it just wasn't a overall good visit and the time frame they had didn't work with my schedule. read more

Read this if you are a new patient. She has lots of great reviews from long-term customers/patients. But speaking as a new patient I was disappointed. Firstly, her office is over-worked and not organized. After the initial visit it was suggested to do some blood work which we promptly done and organized a follow up. At the followup visit (which took all of 2 minutes) was told should have done some other tests. Of course they insist it was told the first time, but then why did they have to send off the lab orders/requests? Each visit cost time and money. Secondly, she is very vague and doesn't make a game plan. It's like she is kicking the ball down the road bit by bit and reacting. You come in and she'll suggest this, you do that, you come in and she'll suggest something else. When you ask for the big picture she gets quite combative. But it is my body isn't it? So I think I'd like to know what's going on! read more

I've thought long and hard about this review. I don't want to waste any more energy thinking about our experience and want to move on. I also don't want to hurt someone's livelihood. At the same time, I believe I would be doing other parents and kiddos a disservice by not saying anything. First, I would encourage you to read through the other bad reviews where people go into depth - our experience was identical to so many of the stories I read from the bad communication with the office, the rushed doctors visits, to her seemingly blanket rule against dairy, to Dr Davies telling me one thing and then insisting she told me something different - all while blaming me for the misunderstanding and being really awful about it. However the biggest issue is that after seeking a 2nd opinion I'm coming to believe our son was misdiagnosed with Crohn's and was kept on steroids for much longer than he should have been (almost 2 years). Regarding the steroids- there's a lot to unpack there but suffice to say I do not think we were given good information there. I would love to talk with Dr Davies and have a kind and open conversation with her to better understand the discrepancy between her line of thinking and our new doctor's. Given our son's symptoms which never seemed to line up with Crohn's and the new doctor's review of his test results, stomach migraines are currently making much more sense to us. With that said, we are still very open to any and all possibilities. However, she won't see a patient after they've sought a 2nd opinion. She warned me 6 months ago that she'd drop us if we sought a 2nd opinion and she somehow convinced me that was normal and her reasoning almost made sense so I stayed. But after yet another very confusing and frustrating recent conversation with her we decided it was time to leave and I'm so glad that we did. I've spoken with several doctors since then who have told me it was a giant red flag that she didn't encourage us to get a 2nd opinion to begin with. As a parent I'm embarrassed that I didn't listen to my gut sooner. Even if my son starts to have problems again and our new doctor can't figure it out, I'll be very happy to seek care anywhere other than Dr Davies. I'm writing this review based on my 11 year old son's experience in the last 1.5 years with Dr. Davies for his stomach pains/chronic constipation. Overall, it was very disappointing, upsetting and concerning. Here are just a few examples why: * After many, many tests/procedures, we still weren't given a diagnosis. We were told to just cut out all sugars and dairy and take prebiotics/probiotics. When I asked Dr. Davies' office staff to send a copy of my son's records to another GI doctor to get a second opinion, they did so. But then told me that they can no longer see my son as a patient. It's their "office policy" that once they send copies of records to another doctor, they must discontinue seeing the patient. WTF? How unethical and absurd that I can't get a second opinion from another doctor!! * Dr. Davies has told me to discontinue a specific medication for my son (I even wrote it down and asked her twice to make sure) and then a few weeks later in my follow up appt. with her, she claimed she didn't say that. Then we had to start my son on the same medication again. Another WTF? * Dr. Davies only treats the symptoms, but not the root cause of the problem. My son has done 10+ magnesium citrate cleanses while under her care, but she has never told us why he continues to have this chronic constipation. * Dr. Davies is always rushed and abrupt. It seems that she has an overload with the number of patients, and gets impatient when I'm asking thorough questions. She can also be patronizing and condescending. It's off-putting. * For the telehealth appointments, she rarely calls when she's supposed to. For example, she's supposed to call between 12-4pm. I typically get a phone call at 6-7pm, and that's even if she calls. A handful of times, she never called, so I had to follow up with her office staff the next day. * I had a couple of brief questions for Dr. Davies, and she was supposed to call me after my appointment to follow up. I never heard back from her, and when I called the office, they made me pay my co-pay just to ask her a couple of questions that she couldn't answer during our in-person appointment. Ridiculous. * The office staff is a complete hot mess. They're unprofessional, unhelpful, and disorganized. It's the worst I've ever seen it. After seeing another GI doctor, we were given a diagnosis on the first appointment, and had a significantly better experience. It was like day and night. I would NOT recommend Dr. Davies if you're looking for top notch quality care for your child. I regret not seeing another pediatric GI doctor sooner. read more

Dr. Davies has been treating my daughter since she was 2 years old. She is one of the BEST providers we have ever seen. She's caring and personally invested in my childs care. This review is not about the care Dr. Davies renders, but how she treats her employees like garbage and is a moody woman. Day two into my student externship I meet her and by the end of the day I was ready to call my MA career quits because the way she talks to her employees while she is "under stress" is highly unprofessional, unproductive, and embarrassing honestly. We had a meet and greet in her office where she explained she expects me to work like a rockstar and asked what i am hoping to get out of my experience there which mind you i am only a student, i told her i am there to help her for the next two weeks but that i am not pursuing a career in the medical field anymore. I am 99% sure she wasn't listening to anything I was saying because later she blames her staff in an email to me saying they told her i wasn't interested in medicine. No sh*t, if you were listening you would know this. While I was in her office she was also venting to me about her employees and the fact that they don't get anything done and how she has to bring her sons in to help her. To me this is unprofessional. This is my first impression of her and she is immediately trash talking her staff. Then she goes on to patronize her staff in front of me like 3 different times. It was embarrassing. I'm not sure what she hopes to achieve talking to staff that way. Maybe it makes her feel better about herself. She claims she is under stress, but that is no excuse to talk to people how she does. One of the employees told me that if they stay over time, she doesn't pay for it. I believe it. Anyone who quadruple books their patients isn't in it for quality patient care, they are greedy. I'm so sad to be posting this. Dr. Davies literally saved my sons lives. But fast forward 10 years later and now we can't get a response from multiple phone calls. Then when we do get through to staff, they say they'll fax something and /or call back and neither happens. A patient ends up having to be forceful to get the simplest things done. Today was the straw though. I called the office and spoke with a staff member who put me on hold and Dr Davies herself came back on the line. She's reading through my son's record and sees NO notation of the multiple calls he's made to their office to try to get his medication ordered! We have no choice but to seek care elsewhere. My advice to parents of young children....use her services to get to a diagnosis and treatment regimen, then go elsewhere for ongoing care. It's a case of a good doctor who is a crummy office manager - and it shows in the lack of documentation and follow through. read more

As the parent of a teenage daughter with chronic abdominal pain, I give the highest recommendation for Dr. Davies. She provides an unfortunately rare combination of medical knowledge, dedication, curiosity, humility, and deep compassion for her patients. I decided to bypass my daughters PCP and went straight to Dr. Davies. She did not hesitate to take my teen under her wing. I came to Dr. Davies with my daughter who was suffering constant, undiagnosed abdominal pain. Over 2 years actually. They methodically and quickly moved through tests and possible treatments. Dr Davies has always been responsive to our detailed questions, supportive of alternative treatments, and an excellent partner with us as a patient/ parent team and with other medical providers, our pharmacy, and our insurance company. Our appointments are never rushed, and the connection continues outside the office with regular, responsive phone/email communication. When I came to the end of the list of possible GI answers to my daughter's condition without any answers, Dr. Davies, stuck with us and said we will find out what is going on. Please read before sending your child to this doctor! I will start by saying if your child has a simple diagnosis, like GERD or Constipation, Dr. Davies is probably fine... She treated my daughter as a baby for GERD and she was fine. However, the way her office is run is absolutely absurd and she misdiagnosed my child in a major way! Any question or conversation you have with Dr. Davies has to be an appointment and will cost you a pretty penny for a 5 minute phone conversation, and you will be paying first. You can only call the office between 9-2 and you have to leave a message and wait for a call back. Phone appointments are only between 12-4 and sometimes not even within that timeframe! In office visits were not much better. No email conversations at all! It's nearly impossible for working parents! I felt as if I had to be really pushy to get any help for my child and after treating him for H. Pylori (which took 6 months and pushing to get checked for) and his pain returning she told us he had Chrons and put him on steroids. When pushed because the diagnosis did not match the symptoms and the steroids made things worse, it became clear that we needed a different doctor. We got a second opinion and he does NOT have Chrons. We have a friend who's daughter was misdiagnosed about 8 years ago with Chrons as well by Dr. Davies. We have other friends with similar experiences. We switched GI doctors and when I tell you that the level of care is dramatically different it is no exaggeration. She heard my concerns, had zero gaslighting or looking at me like I didn't know what I was talking about. She decided to make remarks about my TODDLER who was there.. regarding how he enjoys milk, she stated " he shouldnt have cows milk, hes not a calf " excuse me? Horrible staff! Horrible Dr! I took my 15 year old to this office and saw Dr Davies. We did blood work and some other test. Came in to get results and she tells me and my child her liver was enlarged and looks like it is cancer!!! I flipped out and questioned her she starts off by telling me not to worry let her do the wording and not sleeping at night. WTF! My poor daughter face turned white and I took her out of the room and asked what proof she said well it's always cancer with an enlarged liver! I took my child went immediately to her pediatrician and he was able to look up all of the records all of the pediatrician doctors came in and she did not have cancer her liver was not even elevated!!!! Out of the 47 years of my life I can honestly say it's been a rarity to find such a dedicated, passionate, intelligent and personable physician such as DR. DAVIES.  My son was diagnosed with Crohn's disease at the age of 12, which made my heart drop and caused an immeasurable amount of concern and anxiety. I remember the first GI we met with indicated my child may have to be placed on a feeding tube; you can imagine my devastation. Luckily, this was not the case and the doctor retired and referred us to Dr. Davies. What a night and day difference!!!  She made us feel like family and treated my son as her own. She was able to find the right medication for him and monitored him closely.  We would travel an hour to see her but would have traveled 24hours if necessary. Dr. Davies treated him with the utmost respect and sincerity, he was not another number, another patient, another billing claim; he was her patient and she cared for his health and well being with all her heart. Dr. Davies was there during emergencies by phone, email, and text. She was available after hours when he had to be hospitalized reducing the time he spent sitting in pain at the ER. She has treated him for over 10 years, so even as an adult she made it her mission to treat him and continue his treatment. We recently moved to Texas and ran out of his Rx, who saved the day? Dr. Davies did.  She called us personally to tell us my son will be missed and will take of the Rx  The feeling is mutual because if it wasn't for her dedication to ensuring my sons health he wouldn't be the confident man he is today.  She has a special place in our hearts and we will never forget her!!! read more

As parents of an infant son who was diagnosed as FTT, GERD, and discharged from a major local hospital after two and a half weeks of poking and prodding and receiving no answers or solutions, we were extremely frustrated with medical professionals and their lack of interest in helping our child. Dr. Davies has been a life-saver. She not only took her time to document his entire medical history before prescribing anything, but she is the first doctor to be pro-active in his care with regular phone conversations and the willingness to change things that may not be working prior to our next in-person visit. She was receptive to the research we had done on our own, and how we had begun treating our child while we waited to get the first appointment with her. For the first time in his 4 months of life outside the womb our son is gaining weight at a good pace, and his reflux is being managed. We not only have hope, but are experiencing real results. The staff here don't know what they are doing, are not professional, and untrained to be working in a medical office. Phone calls often unreturned, long hold times, odd hours, no proper communication, all lead to disaster. Not sure if Dr. Davies is aware how bad her staff is making her look. Another downfall is long waits for appointments. Dr. Davies is a great pediatric GI doctor though and that is why I have stayed a patient for the time being, Just tired of wrestling with her staff in order to get my child the care she needs. Dr. Davies is by far the one who made us feel most comfortable with a clear plan for how to treat him and when and how to introduce new foods over time. She is also very accessible, taking phone calls to share her vast knowledge base whenever we encounter some unknown symptoms or just need reassurance about a food choice. I saw one review from 2015 that suggested her staff is unprofessional - we haven't had that experience so far; the staff we've dealt with have been helpful and responsive. When Dr. Davies first arrived in Sacramento, we were practically camped out on her doorstep. We desperately needed a good gastroenterologist and Dr. Davies was the answer to our prayers. She is talented, caring, compassionate and truly an exceptional human being. When we left Sutter because CALPERS forced us to, we went to Dr. Davies on our own dime anyway. All we can say is WOW!! After dealing with our daughters constipation for years, Dr. Davies took care of the problem for good. After trying a method that didn't work with another doctor, which included being admitted to the hospital for a few days, Dr. Davies had taken care of our daughters constipation problem in what seemed to be a 20 minute outpatient procedure.
