Dr. Yip has been my Dr. for 18 years. I've had complications from a failed lumbar spinal fusion. The surgeon used an unapproved bone biologic that infiltrated my lumbar muscles, ligaments and tendons. I've read the previous comments made about Dr Yip and they are all true. I had my first appointment with Dr. Yip last week. I found him to be very kind, charismatic, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. He was determined to explain matters to me (long story!), instead of just writing a prescription. I felt very enthusiastic when I left his office. I felt like he "cares" about me....and would help me. That's an awesome start. As for his staff: Lenore, Gabby, Natalie and Kelly. They are all as nice and pleasant (and funny) as they could be. It's been my experience, if a doctor has good front office people, and good staff......they're almost always a great physician. Dr. Yip is very cool when you meet him. And he listened to everything I needed. I told him a prescription I wanted because it worked well in the past and he didn't try to suggest something weak like a lot of doctors I've been to. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because I ended up with extra charges being billed to me weeks later that was WAY more than what they said on the phone for his office visit price. I feel like it might have been for this amphetamine stuff he kept suggesting for my "weight loss" (even though I'm 6ft and 150lbs) on top of the pills I went in for. I'm not complaining, but he def charged too much for just a handful of pills. But if you don't mind paying higher than street prices then he's pretty good about giving you what you want. read more

Dr. Yip, M.D., F.A.C.P is very knowledgeable, but what makes Dr. Yip exceptional, is that he takes the time to listen to the patient, very caring and really studies the test results, before rendering a diagnosis. He goes beyond the call of doctor to help his patients get the best help. Without getting into a long story of my case, I have a rare condition that causes high blood pressure. Several doctors and months of medicine and no results. A doctor recommended I see Dr. Yip and my life was forever better. Dr. Yip, studied my test results and found the problem immediately. A rare hormone issue called hyperaldosteronism. Dr. Yip took his time to research the best doctor for this condition, set-up the appointment for me, so that I could get in quickly, and the rest is history. My life is back on track and I only take 1 1/2 pills now to have perfect blood pressure. Dr. Yip, you are an amazing person. I have been a nurse myself for forty years!!!!! This Dr. is RUDE and COLD and clearly does not know the meaning of HEPA laws!!! He is very old school in his thinking and NEVER gives test results or returns calls. Have you ever heard of a DR. that calls a patient names and labels them??? Dr. Ian Yip saved my life. I had a difficult time walking, my legs had severe pain, my eyes were always watery, and was I always tired. Sleep didn't help. I took 800mg of Motrin a day to take away my headaches. Those are just of few of my aches and pains. I had gone to many physicians and specialists over years. None of them could find anything wrong with me. Many of them suggested I should shed some pounds and I would feel better. I made an appointment with Dr. Yip for weight loss. He did some blood work. He called me personally the next day and asked me what time I could be in his office. (This cant be good I thought) When he walked into the operatory he smiled and said "You need a surgeon". My heart dropped to the floor and I knew this was not good news. Dr. Yip explained that my blood results showed a high calcium level. He said "you have a parathyroid tumor in your neck that needs to be removed, and it is not cancer". Dr. Yip referred me to Dr. Alan Cohen, ENT, in West Hills, for the removal of the tumor. Dr. Cohen runs the Parathyroid Unit at West Hills Hospital. Dr. Cohen removed the tumor and within minutes my calcium level dropped into the normal range for the first time in 15 years. This tumor, if not found, would have killed me. When I came out of the anesthetic I was able to walk, unassisted. I now have the joy back in my life. Dr. Yip saved my life. The evidence had been obvious in my blood work for over 15 years. I kept all the records. Dr. Yip was the only physician to diagnose the problem. I owe the rest of my life to Dr. Yip and Dr. Cohen. It has been a year since my surgery. I have lost some weight, I haven't had one headache, my eyes don't water, I walk pain free, my blood pressure has dropped, and I look forward to work each day. I have my life back and I get to spend it with my husband, children, daughters- in- law and my 6 incredible grandchildren. I am now 64 and look forward with a thankful heart to the rest of my life thanks to my wonderful endocrinologist, Dr. Yip. read more

Dr Yip is my fathers primary care physician. My dad has diabetes and has had a triple bypass amongst other medical issues. Today my father saw him at 10:00am. The doctor rushed him over to get an MRI from West Hills hospital. I waited for my father to get home so we could know the test results. Apparently, the hospital sent him home without providing him any prognosis. I waited at home for 8 hours to see my dad and find out what was going on. Upon his arrival home he had no answers. Now I ask. Who goes to see their primary care doctor, then gets rushed for an MRI and then gets sent home with no prognosis!??????? I called Dr Yip and he returned my call promptly. I stated verbatim..."how can no one have any answers?" He replied by beginning to YELL at me and tell me to "Shut Up." What kind of Doctor is this? STAY AWAY from this doctor. He loves to hand out Rx's for painkillers and only accepts cash. SHAME ON YOU DR YIP. I am a concerned son and you told me to "shut up!" When I asked u a logical question. read more

I went in for a simple hormone test over a month ago and have still not heard back from the doctor. His staff has been rude, and unhelpful. I finally had to just tell them to email me my test results so I could take them to another doctor. Still waiting on that as well. I found Dr. Yip by doing my own online research. He had excellent reviews and impeccable credentials. I only had the need to see him on one occasion, but my experience with him was quite excellent. If you want a BRILLIANT, INTUITIVE, physician who has a GREAT BEDSIDE MANNER and a TERRIFIC PERSONALITY, look no further, Dr. Yip LISTENS INTENTLY without rushing you, I have been going to Dr. Yip for 20 years and have always found him to be absolutely the best of the best. I am healthy so he has, up until now, treated me for my hypothyroid issues. However, two weeks ago I got a bladder infection. Dr. Yip sent me for a urine culture and prescribed medication to cover the infection until the lab results came back. Several days later I wasn't feeling well so his staff gave me an immediate appointment. He listened to my symptoms and I could practically see the wheels in his head turning. "Hmm, your urine test shows an infection but the medication I ordered for you should have handled it. It appears you have more than a UTI. I think you have an abscess or a stone that is not allowing the infection to clear." He ordered blood work and more urine tests, put me on different medication, ordered a RN to come to my home for a week to give me antibiotics IV. He checked in with me 2 or 3 times a day to see how I was feeling. He also got me in for an immediate CT scan. Since I only had very vague symptoms, no other doctor in the world would have gotten the diagnosis correct using his intuition and expertise. Sure enough, he was spot on! The CT scan showed a large abscess pushing on the back wall of the bladder, ecoli and a cyst on my left kidney. If he hadn't listened to my very vague symptoms (I really don't have pain, only discomfort) and acted quickly, who knows what would have happened. He has referred me to a general surgeon. It's Sunday, and guess what, Dr. Yip just texted me to see how I am feeling. No other doctor would be so careful and on top of patient care. SUCH AN INCREDIBLE, WISE, CARING doctor. He's truly one in a zillion. You'll never find anyone as great as he is! read more
