The salt water pools are both nice--a good sized lap pool and a warmer leisure for water walking and kid fun, as well as a river for floating and relaxing. There is also a giant water slide. The downside is the management of the pools, or lack thereof. Don't expect rules to be enforced, especially in summer, when the lifeguards are almost exclusively teenagers. Kids play in the lap lanes, which disappear with little regard to the schedule. I saw a child dive into the shallow end of the kids' pool and not one of the three lifeguards said anything or perhaps even noticed. Usually there's only one swim lane during aquafit, even if the class is sparsely attended. If you want equipment--water weights, for instance--you often have to hunt down someone to get them for you from a back room. Most gyms I've been to have that equipment readily available. During aquafit classes, the music is so loud that the people in the water often can't hear the instructor, and the instructors are already miked. The volume is headache-inducing at times. Additionally, the music itself is generally very bad. In the morning, it's the same hits of the 70s on a loop ("American Pie" every morning gets old quickly) and in the evenings it's even worse. Little effort seems to go into matching what people in the aquafit classes might enjoy--it's just typical aerobics music, with no imagination or common sense put into the song choice, given that the majority of the people in the classes are 65-plus. (Pre-1960 music actually had a beat--people jitterbugged to it!) I mention music because it's loud, there's no escaping it, and having contemporary country (for example) blaring in your ear isn't always what you want when you're trying to unwind after a long day.

They both loved riding on the dozen + riding toys. Cars, motorcycles, tricycles, big wheels, etc. There's a great climbing toy with a tall slide. A teeter totter, play houses, merry-go-round, and so much more! Also looks like they allow you to host parties in the space.

The event happened to take place on an abnormally hot day in early May so the outdoor/indoor space was perfect. There were plenty of tables and chairs available and the staff was really helpful. We've also come here for the indoor toddler gym play time... it was okay. There aren't that many toys compared to the Spartan Recreation Center (though that one isn't free), but it was still a good time for my kiddos to run around and play on the bleachers.

Not a fan of having to walk around personal treatments on a massage table and listening to a kinesiologist so loud, you can hear her shouting, "Clench your butt!" to a senior on the table---right into the next room. Biggest issue: despite leaving several messages over the weeks, they don't respond to the fact there's no accessible parking near the accessible entrance. They have everything else: electric car charging & drop off. There are able bodied parking spots right by the entrance. But disabled patrons are left to weave their way through heavy and hazardous traffic. The accessible parking is waaaaay over on the other side of the building. It causes additional pain and stress, and is wide open for someone to get hit by a car. It's such a simple matter to put up a sign, but nope. This situation has been in place since early March. I'm not the only one who's complained. Not happy it's come to having to make a Yelp post, either. I prefer to talk things over privately. The effect is that disabled patrons are clearly unwelcome, to the point it amounts to them being banned from the facility. This is a serious human rights issue, and the BC Human Rights Tribunal has told me they'd accept it for a hearing.
