I signed up for an adult beginner class, but it ended up just being me. The lesson were in the pool at Columbus Academy. I did an accelerated session on Saturday and Sunday for two weeks with Katie Goggin. In six lessons, I was able to do something I've never been able to do, go under water without holding my nose. By the end, I was swimming laps to the deep end, which I am afraid of. It was a short session and I can't wait to enroll in the next one. If you think it's too late to learn to swim, it isn't!

Amy contacted me personally soon after I had applied for the scholarship & got me enrolled & ready to go. Our first time there we were greeted with smiles & our goodie bags. The place is very clean & kid friendly. All the staff is very kind. Everyone I encountered there was good with the kids, cared about the kids & seemed to love their job. Ryanne kept a good eye on my middle child as he is extremely ornery & squirmy. She was awesome with my kids! I can't say enough about Amy, she's a wonderful lady! She interacts with everyone & calls the kids by their names. She walks the edge of the pool checking on everyone & all the things, during lessons. She talked to my boys after every lesson & even teared up on our last one. She gave my boys big hugs telling them she hopes to see them soon. The scholarship that they offer is such a blessing. We wouldn't have been able to afford lessons other wise. My middle child has nearly drowned twice, and now after his lessons I feel he could make his way out of a pool on his own if need be. I have dropped 35 pounds and feel I have so much more energy! Just such a better mental state too. Big parking lot, shared with an attached OhioHealth facility. Clean, bright, open plan, lots to do. Weight room and basketball courts downstairs, along with classrooms, lockers, pool, etc. Upstairs are exercise machines and a walking track. You can walk on a treadmill and watch people go in circles, or vice versa. Many cleaning stations. Many bathrooms. Indoor and outdoor pools, and the indoor one has a couple of actual pools (maybe one is for therapy?) Daycare area, another bike room with even more monitors (there are many TVs around in the exercise area.) Big locker rooms. I wish this was closer to me. But maybe I'll get out here once in awhile.

My wife and I love the family atmosphere at Columbus Scuba and this extends to their trips as well. We have made quite a few new friends on these trips and at the events at the shop. I suppose I should add the beautiful sea life we saw on our dives. See you on our next trip!!!

I've experienced 4 instructors combined through getting my open water and advanced open water…read morecertifications. They were all great. I felt safe while learning and appreciated their patience with me during the entire process. I had minor equipment issues and they were taken care of immediately. Easing my mind. I always felt like my safety while I was learning were top priority. I could focus on learning and HAVING FUN. I met a lot of CSI staff and instructors out of water and all were very friendly and eager to help and chat. Gilboa Quarry, the staff and a special golf cart volunteer... great. I have nothing negative to say about my experience and look forward to many more.
