They assisted us with every detail of the setup, and honestly, I don't know what I would have done without them, given all that had to be loaded and unloaded in such a short time. The event itself was very intimate and beautifully accommodated about 75 to 80 guests. After speaking several times, Sandy confirmed that she took all ideas into consideration and would have the winter wonderland baby shower completed per our vision. The day before the baby shower, Sandy sent an invoice for double the budget. This was not communicated prior to. Sandy also used most of the budget for chairs, plastic ware, and tables and no decor. When we arrived the day of the event, Sandy was late setting up. She didn't finish until two hours after the event started. She also had our family and friends helping her complete the set up which made the shower start so late. She did not have a staff to help her as she stated. She also had someone bring the center pieces two hours late and placed them down as guests were eating. We had to pay the dj for an extra hour and request that Sandy extend the space rental due to her late set up. The baby shower only had balloon garland chairs and tables. Sandy did not incorporate any of our ideas and the baby shower was not winter wonderland. This was a not what I expected or reflected the budget spent on it.

I found Events Decorated on a simple google search with the thought that I wanted to drape either our ceremony or reception. I quickly saw that she does everything! She and her amazing team ended up doing all of our flowers, lighting, and reception and ceremony decorations; she even helped us figure out details about the flow of the night. Among other things, Jennifer came to us with the idea of doing our ceremony "in the round" which we thought sounded really unique, but ended up way exceeding our dreams. Throughout the months, we gathered pictures that we liked from big to small and sent them to her. She combined everything to make our ceremony a huge combination of everything and more. Jennifer is very calming and sweet. Anytime we were starting to panic (as you do at times while planning a wedding) Jennifer calmed us with ease and an abundance of knowledge. When I pulled up after finishing at the salon the day of the wedding, I couldn't help but squeal with excitement!! Now it's owned by Georgia Tech, which uses it for Tech events as well as renting it out. The building itself is lovely -- National Register of Historic Buildings and all that. The auditorium is fairly small -- it must seat 150 more or less -- and the floor has a nice slope so the view and acoustics are great. The event I attended, marking the end of Africa-Atlanta, used a room to the right of the auditorium for a reception. It was lovely. There was valet parking in the back and metered street parking right beside the Academy on 8th Street. Historical question: does anyone know what the Academy of Medicine actually did/does and where it is currently located? Why did they have such a fancy facility and what did they use it for?

When we happened upon the Academy, we fell in love. From our first tour of the facility to our wedding day, Shawn and her staff worked tirelessly to make sure everything was perfect. The facility itself is stunning. We held our cocktail hour on the front lawn and the Academy allowed us to set up lawn games! It was a beautiful October day and the guests had a blast chatting and playing outside. It is so cool because the lawn is large and has beautiful views of the buildings around it. The two levels were perfect for out reception. Downstairs we held our dinner. Upstairs we had dancing in the Crystal Dining Room, desert and coffee in the Library, and the photo booth in the Parlor.
