We had the same experience as the first reviewer. There was no one there. Nasty attitude. No cars. After leaving messages on Facebook for months and one the phone, we were told we could sign up for a tour. They only offered it one Sunday, which we could not make. The day passes are $495. Highly recommend Friday night into sat stay. Intro package. Acupuncture felt amazing. The yoga classes were ran by very knowledgeable instructors. The steam room was heaven after a deep tissue massage. When I pulled up last Friday I was very skeptical seeing cigarettes and a yogurt container on ground. The receptionist wasn't very pleasant but the minute the who I assume was a manager Suzanna stepped in allowing me to check in 2 hours early everything changed. My room on 6th floor was amazing view and the bed was extremely comfy. Yeah a hair was on my bathroom counter no big deal I wiped it away. The shower spout was certainly a spa shower head that felt amazing! I wish the water would have been hotter I take extremely hot showers. When I went looking for therapy area Yolanda at salon shop helped me walking me all the way there which was extremely nice of her. I had deep tissue massage which was very good - I'm not into massages but it made my lower back pain go away. Luckily someone in waiting room suggested a steam after. I asked afterward the gentleman at desk where I could use a steam room and he was extremely helpful and got me towels and helped set it up in one of the massage rooms. The steam took everything to another level I felt so relaxed. Then went to yogic nidra class which the instructor was fabulous very relaxing experience. Then dinner was phenomenal. Soup salad and (3 dinner options) Samosas were unbelievably delicious. All Vegan which was perfect! I am a vegetarian so I love how the resort ensures healthier eating and makes it easy to choose. The next day I did everything starting with morning meditation hatha yoga and yin yoga then went in the women's locker room sauna and same steam room on therapy floor since the locker room was a large group one and it wasn't clear how to works. But I preferred the single room steam anyway. I do wish I could have swam but the pool was very cold. I was so grateful in between yoga classes I went to check out by 11 but there was the lovely Suzanna to say no worries I didn't need to check out until after my appointments (I let them know my acupuncture appt wasn't until 4:30 so I'd be hanging around). This was amazing because I was able to go back to my room before acupuncture and lay down and relax after a steam and shower in my room before my appt. Acupuncture was my first experience and it was amazing!! I felt some Qi flowing for sure and unblocking. So all and all this was a very successful trip and well worth the intro package price $600. My bill had no issues I only had a juice fee which was $12 -very delicious. Overall this place had great services great food great staff and was beautiful resort. Well worth it ! read more

This is a YOGA resort. The place is virtually empty and there is almost no one available for service. The property and the rooms, while relatively new, are in total disrepair. The outside is covered in weeds and goose poop which has not had any kind of landscaping maintenance or clean up in months. The rooms have no maid service, no fresh towels or soap. Our room came with clogged sinks, stained carpets and a nest of lady bugs. Many of the hotel amenities are broken - no jacuzzi, no steam room, indoor pool is unheated. There is no staff in the spa and the place is like a ghost town. The spa menu is way overpriced ($180.00 for a 50-minute massage) and with no one there, it makes you wonder about the quality of the masseurs. The free coffee is terrible. The dining room has stained carpet and broken tables. Free breakfast from 8-10 AM means the staff starts to arrive at 8 and doesn't set up anything until well after 8. We arrived for breakfast at 8 and found a dark dining room, no staff visible, no food, coffee, plates or utensils anywhere. We wanted to eat quickly and then go hiking in the fall foliage, so we needed to go off property. Later, we ordered lunch for one to share, but the waiter made a mistake and brought lunch for two. Lunch was a bowl of canned soup, small salad and vegetarian entrée of tasteless vegan meatloaf and mashed potatoes for $50.00 per person (no price on the menu), which is an outrageous price for one. We were charged for two people for $100.00, even though we ordered only one lunch. When we complained that breakfast wasn't ready and we wanted a price accommodation as well as the lunch charge changed to only one person, the hotel manager refused saying it was up to the chef and the manager had no control over what the chef charged. The chef then came out and lied and said there was a full buffet breakfast at 8 and we had ordered two lunches. For a group that is supposed to be Zen and accepting, we found them to be liars, thieves, and incompetent at running a hotel. I had to dispute their charges with my credit card company. STAY AWAY. I just returned from a weekend at YO1 Resort with a friend. I had pretty low expectations based on some of the reviews I read here. Suffice to say it far exceeded my expectations. Overall, our stay was great. The hotel/spa are very well designed and spacious. The views from the room, the pool, the gym, the yoga studio and the restaurant are all of the lake. Our room had two queen beds and two chaises and was very large. We opted not to do a program but instead booked the room, took some private and group yoga classes, massages, gym, swim, and walks outside. The massages were perfect after a couple of challenging yoga classes. The vegan and gluten free food was very creative and extremely tasty. The chef was accommodating despite the limited choices at each meal. An unexpected bonus is that they do serve wine with meals. The Q&A on their website incorrectly states they are an alcohol free resort. There was limited staff but it didn't affect our stay. Everything ran smoothly. Somehow, the place seemed to run itself. That said, there were few guests so staffing could be an issue if the resort was more crowded. My only complaints are they need to vacuum the floors more, especially in the dining room, and the coffee was pretty weak and hard to come by in the early morning hours. read more

Mid-week in August, high season for the Catskills, only a couple of dozen people are staying at this bizarre hotel that resembles the asylum in "Nurse Ratched." The stark white walls add a coldness to the space. Not only is the hotel ridiculously short staffed, the employees are extremely young. I waited for my massage in the wrong area and there was no attendant (or employee) to advise otherwise. Not one worker in the locker room. I attended one yoga class, which was far too simplistic for a "yoga retreat." The main yoga room is pretty but it looks out to a field of weeded grass and geese poop. No plantings, foliage, or flowers here. And the food is terrible. The Veggie stir-fry was doused in oil, the soups taste hiking "trail" is 1/4 mile long. The food was tasteless, the bread dry. I love vegetarian food but this had no taste. read more

What a great place - just came back from two nights at YO1. Very relaxing and rejuvenating, great wellness services (massage/facial/etc), interesting classes (loved the gong meditation), and beautiful rooms and common areas. Even the vegetarian food was truly good, and I say that as a committed meat-eater. Everyone was friendly and unlike a few reviews below, I didn't notice any difference in staff attitude towards me (I was a la carte) and anyone else who may have been there for a wellness retreat. They were all terrific. My one little nitpick is that they need softer sheets - they were a bit on the scratchy side. Anyway, I don't know how YO1 has not yet been overwhelmed by the NYC crowd on weekends. While I'm thrilled that it's an undiscovered gem, I'd like it to stay open for a good long time, so more people need to discover it. read more

I recently spent 3 1/2 days at YO1 Wellness Center. Everything about the center was exceptional! From the moment I walked through the door, I was treated as a loved family member. Every therapist, every employee, every doctor was genuinely kind, compassionate, willing to share their knowledge and professional at the same time. They teach you about Ayurveda but don't pressure you to conform. My room...Gorgeous. The facility...SPOTLESS and Beautiful. The atmosphere...Rest-full and Calming. The food...Absolutely Delicious! I had no idea what to expect but I've learned things that are already changing my life for the better and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to experience YO1. YO1 is the best wellness center / spa I've ever been to... and I've been to a lot of spas from NYC to Sonoma, CA. They have the best offerings available. With a one day pass we started with Aqua Yoga, went to mud packs, lunch, deep tissue massages, a swim and a waterfall jacuzzi, steam, followed by authentic and fantastic meditation yoga. Finally we went to dinner where the vegan food was amazing. The soups are the very best! Pure veggies and delicious... and Robert Malanaphy, the dining room Captain exceeded all expectations by treating every guest like gold. If you're lucky he will do one of his many magic tricks for you too! Loved this experience and will go back very soon!!! I felt really special while I was there and I needed that. If I could give 0 stars to this hotel I would. Horrible customer service. We could not book any massages 2 days prior to arrival, but this is the least of the problem. The resort front desk representative gave us the wrong information about access to facility amenities. When we asked to speak with the supervisor they said there is no supervisor, but only the owner and they cannot provide any contact information of the owner. The staff refused to address any of our concerns about the wrong information provided by their front desk representative. No courtesy regarding false information and they haven't offered any compensation for the wrong information provided. Rude, unprofessional, disrespectful staff and the owner obviously. This is totally unexpected from the facility of this level. I will be reporting them to the BBB. I have never had such a stressful experience dealing with such an unpleasant and unprofessional approach to customer service in my life. read more

You will spend an absurd amount of money to receive the same 4 therapies every day and be fed like a pigeon. The staff is disorganized and rude, I sat in disbelief as an elderly couple were told that they would not be given a tour and to walk the premises by themselves if they would like ( the place is so big, they probably got lost ). This year I have given myself the gift of investing in my health and wellbeing, body, mind and soul. Last year I spent a week in India and discovered the benefits of Ayurvedic practices. My body thanked me for it afterwards but when I came home I wanted to continue to immerse myself in this holistic approach and did a web search whereupon I stumbled upon YO1 in the Catskills. If you are truly serious about your health and wellbeing and are prepared to commit to a program incorporating daily holistic practices (naturopathic and ayurvedic) to your every day, then this is the place for you. THIS IS NOT YOUR REGULAR DAY SPA. All the treatments are geared to specific types of programs, concentrating on overall wellness, detoxification, weight management, stress management etc., dependent on what you consider your priority. Examples of treatments include acupuncture, various types of massages, including detoxification ayurvedic massages, and hydrotherapy treatments. Yoga sessions take place every day and can either be in the form of a private class or group class and geared towards the individual's capabilities. The food is delicious and principally vegetarian and delightfully presented, the rooms are spotless and the customer service from all of the staff I encountered is excellent, friendly and professional. The names are too numerous to mention here. Other facilities include the top notch gym and equipment and beautiful pool. The views of the lake are also lovely and I believe, in better weather bikes will be available to navigate the estate. I enjoyed YO1 and all that it has to offer so much that I have already been three times since the beginning of January, 2019. Again, if you are serious about your health and wellbeing and want to be educated in this holistic approach, then this is the place for you. I will certainly be going again. I found Y01 in an article for luxury mediation/yoga retreats in NY. I did not want to travel a long distance but needed a "stress" decompressed vacation. The staff were so loving and kind as I stayed through the Xmas holiday week, solo. I take solo trips quite frequently but this experience has brought me back several times to Y01. I feel taken care of from the moment I enter the doors. I met daily with a counselor who tailored my treatment to my physical, emotional and psychological needs (if you treat one area, another area can inflame so need to be flexible in treatment regime). I am very much looking forward to spending time there this summer as the lake is stunning! I received several "massage" therapies a day, the food is excellent, the facility is state of the art. Every time I leave, I feel like I am leaving my home. I strongly recommend for solo or adult group traveling. There were several groups and couples, but also many solo travelers. We are all there for wellness, so it has a very calm and relaxing atmosphere. read more

I have NEVER done this but here goes... I went to the YO1 spa for my daughters 30th. We were really excited as it looked great. It was anything but. A few of the "mishaps"included, a shower room post (eh) massage that was disgustingly filthy, a pool you couldn't swim in comfortably because the heater was broken, a deck you couldn't sit out on because there was a wasp nest and they were swarming, a shower you couldn't use because there was NO water pressure, a bathroom sink that was clogged every time you put the water on. The list goes on. I understand sometimes things happen, but NONE of these things were addressed when brought to their attention. Worse, customer service was rude and unprofessional to say the least. I managed to get to the CEO ( after being told he wasn't available, found his office & knocked on the door) and was met, again, with incompetence and rudeness. He did say he would credit some of the stay and NEVER did. Initially there was a credit on my credit card, and later another charge for more money than was supposed to be!! When I called to discuss this, they connected me to his line (so they said), he never picked up and had no voice mail. I called back several times and NO ONE picked up. I can't say this was a total loss because spending time with my daughter anywhere is a pleasure, but to say this was a disappointment is a gross understatement. They charge top prices for their accommodations and services and the experience is anything but. Sorry, not sorry. read more

My most salient observation about my five glorious nights at Yo1 is that I have not in years either moved as much or stayed as still as I did during that time. The space itself gleams and offers a clean palate of smooth stone and polished elemental décor. Particularly impressive are the breathtaking living wall at one end of the stately main atrium of the treatment wing and the interior sitting areas flanking the simple glass-encased fire element in the main lobby of the hotel side of the property. Overall, what appealed to me about being there was the womblike clarity and openness--the sheer calm that pervades Yo1. For me, the open, centering nature of the place offered a blank canvas on which I could fully offload what had been weighing on me when I entered. It has in one sense the vibe of a highly luxurious spa, and at the same time is capable of feeling transformative, otherworldly, so clean as to really clean your slate. Mostly I spent the week in a head-space of not being fully sure I deserved to take this time and to inhabit this space, this way of living, this peace. Then my dining companion on the last day pointed out: "If you don't take the time, the time takes you." Lest you conclude that Yo1 is simply a sensory cleansing, know this: it is much, much more. The therapeutic intensity level here is high. My two counselors, collectively taking account of every aspect of my wellbeing and responding to my concerns and very acute problems, prescribed dozens of Ayurveydic treatments, massage and aquatherapy, acupuncture, yogic practices (including daily cleansing of everything--and I mean everything!) and dictated my nutrition, and even my sleep and wake times (this was a big literal wake-up call to me, as I had not done enough research to know in advance that I would be expected to undertake treatments and then yoga and more treatments beginning at 6:30 every morning and lasting nearly continuously until 9pm each night). I decided to succumb and listen to these experts, see if I could learn some new strategies for staying in tune, and I am deeply grateful I did so. Aside from seeing spectacular sunrises every morning while doing yoga in a gorgeous room with a panoramic Catskill lake view, I felt that over time the structure, the gently shifting speeds of my activity, and the handcrafted blooms of color and flavor that Maria turned out in the eclectic and satisfying kitchen melted away all that was challenging me and gave me a new way to be present in my situation. All of the gains I made from participating in the offerings of Yo1 were in no small part due to the expert and compassionate and loving ministrations of every person at Yo1, starting with the amazing young woman (shout out to Zacha) who fronted me cash for my taxi when I arrived with no cash in a local cab that did not take credit cards. I was not in New York City anymore, clearly! After arriving, having my welcome juice and my tour (it is a big place and at least for me truly took days to feel situated), I met the people who would tenderly force me to really breathe, really relax, and really get out of my head. Sometimes the treatments took me out of my body as well, with incredibly talented people across the board (Um, Adrian). I cannot overemphasize the solicitousness of the staff, from the wonderful Robert in the dining room to the wise and calming colonic therapist Sandra (I kid you not). I had high hopes for this place, but the only thing nice about it is the architectural standpoint of the building. The staff look miserable and Guarav Navin, an infamous narcissist and creep, does not know how to run an establishment. I either saw employees paying attention to their phones or joking around a lot. No one could answer my questions... A blind man can tell this place is poorly managed. Not to mention there was barely any other guests during the 4 days I spent there. The food was not authentic and the portions were very small. No one seemed to worry about my well being. Horrible experience. read more

I stayed overnight at YO1, went in drained and came out the other end transformed and refreshed! I love to swim, and the saline pool with jacuzzi overlooking the lake was truly lovely. My massage and salt scrub were top notch. I loved the juice bar and all the options available. The chef made a vegetable stuffed acorn squash for dinner with both butternut squash on the bottom and a red sauce on top. The berries in the morning were so fresh! I slept 10 hours on what are the most comfortable beds. The whole place is designed with quality materials and minimally, no excess. Really elegant design from the fixtures in the bathrooms, to the marble floors, to the lighting, to the moss wall, playroom, yoga room. I can't wait for my next trip! read more

Four of us travelled to the YO1 Center and were very interested to see the new facility. When we arrived, we were immediately stopped by the guard and were told we were not welcome. Eventually, he called guest services. The woman whom we spoke to said that even though the facility was not busy they would not allow us to see the center. The staff was rude, unpleasant and clearly untrained in managing a consumer friendly facility. Is this the way a new business attracts clients? Totally unwelcoming! Suggest you stay away. I read Ellen's review (2/5/2020) and the way she described her first visit was our experience from 2/19/2020-2/22/2020 - everything was perfect and our experience was exactly as described on their website. I also will be booking another stay in the summer. It's unfortunate that she had a negative experience early Feb - I do know that they are under new management and are making some changes. This is a unique operation for the US. I really hope they figure out how to thrive but keep their mission and vision exactly they same. Some details of our experience: After checking in (we checked in @ 8:30 am), my son and I met with an eastern doctor, Raj, and a wonderful ayurvedic doctor. They took their time to understand exactly what we wanted to get out of our stay and prescribed all our treatments and juices for our 4 day stay. Our days were packed from morning to evening with Kriyas, massages, amazing ayurvedic treatments (Netra Tarpanam, acupuncture, dead sea mud treatments, roman baths, yoga, meditation, etc.) Food was fabulous! Every meal started with a different delicious and healthy soup, followed by a salad (again not one repeat), and entree. Robert, our server for our entire stay, was absolutely the best. He entertained us at our table with card tricks which I'm still wondering how he did it. Rooms are exactly as pictured on the website - luxurious! All treatments had a purpose and we had so many of them! Last, and I need to write a separate review just for this - PJ!! He is the MASTER of massage. The problem is that you will never want to get a massage again unless it is with him. When you book a stay here, find out if he is on the schedule to work the days you will be here. I can go on and on - book in advance and get a 20% discount. I didn't do that this time around but certainly will for next visit. Bottom line, it's worth every penny! read more

Just spent four days at YO1 and cannot say enough wonderful things about it. I'll highlight a few of its unique characteristics. Funded by an Indian Media mogul to bring authentic Ayurvedic traditions to the West, YO1 offers customized treatments, based on consultations with yogic and naturopathic counselors, in a luxurious environment. I suffer from back pain and was introduced to Kati Vasti (Google it), which has brought my back to a pain free and energized state. Treatment providers trained for months with an Indian delegation. Treatment facilities are sparkling and well-appointed (e.g.,every massage room has its own steam/shower). Sleeping accommodations are large (with multi-featured toilets and showers) and serene. The staff are endlessly accommodating: I felt embraced by everyone. And the food is wonderful! All treatments are included! Yoga and evening lectures are included! All juices are included! This place truly was amazing!! No expenses were spared bulding this luxury wellness oasis. Five star treament from the moment we walked through the front door. Your treatments are customzied to your needs. We first had a consultation with a medical wellness physican who prescribed which treatments would be most beneficial. They truly want to help people. There was a lecture Saturday night by an ayurveda physican which was very informative. I have over twenty three years of medical backround and have never sat through a lecture where the physican was so passionate. This is the first place in this area which truly treats the body as a whole. This is not just a "spa", this place is an educational experience! If you are open to healing and incooperating minfulness and holistic care to your health this place is for you! The staff are friendly, professional and compassionate.
