I was so happy to find a small, independent yoga studio in my neighborhood to join and even more…read moredelighted after I started going to classes. As soon as you enter, it's obvious it's a nice studio with a welcoming vibe--the class instructor checks you in, and there's free tea and animal crackers to take while you get settled in and hang up your coat. There's a free lending library in the lobby, too. They don't charge for using their mats and props which was a pleasant surprise. And the classes themselves are great! A well-rounded practice and not over-crowded with attendees. They have a wide variety of class options (yin, Hatha, kundalini, pre-natal) as well as multi-week workshops and events. They offer classes both in person and live online. For a little studio they have a lot to offer! It's not the cheapest yoga spot in DC, and there are only about 5 classes per day, but it's been a great experience so far. I'm glad I took the leap and got a membership (also because the first month is half off!)

For the last 10 years I have been studying my own psychology and using Cognitive Behavioral Therapies to overcome the narcissistic abuse from my childhood home. Although understanding my circumstances has helped me overcome a lot, the growth that I have come into since joining this studio does not compare. Over the last 3 months I have stopped coping with my pain with the use of Marijuana. Through the intentional movement, breath work, and meditation on a regular basis I am now able to see my own projections and even those of others which has allowed to engage with the relationships in my life differently, more productively. I have also stopped disassociating in intimacy something I did not realize I was doing from being a victim of sexual assault and rape. This place has taught me how to come back to my body and be present in my life without bringing my past back into my present. I cannot say enough of how eternally grateful I am for this place that has become a community of support and guidance. Thank you to all the instructors who brought light back into my life. Even my trajectory of my current career path is changing. Manju Sadarangani, Kate Judson, Jenna Tomasello, Jen Skillicorn, Ametisse Gover-Chamiou, Alicia McBride, Meredith McCullough, Colleen Brisport Sequeda, and of course Rebecca Henry only to name a few you have all taught me more about my alignment, my breathing, my mind more than you know. You are not just teachers, you are angels and gifts and I do not take you for granted. Thank you all for what you do for our community to help make this world a better place. This place is one of recovery and peace in my soul. I can honestly say, I have finally reach a place of contentment and deep connection with myself which is leading to deeper connections with others. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Adding onto the bounty of good reviews below. I started doing yoga at home to find peace and time…read morefor myself in a hectic and stressful life. The random ten minute videos on YouTube were fantastic starters, but I realized that I wanted something more so I found Grace, a studio local to me. The first session was free, so it was a good way to get introduced to the place and the people there. So let's start there. I almost had enough time to say hello to the receptionist when she recognized that I was a new face, smiled, and introduced herself to me. She offered a tour to me, which was friendly, but I was surprised that another attendee offered to take me on a tour herself! It was clear to me then that the friendliness was contagious. I really appreciate that the equipment is available at no cost. Having the mats, the blocks, the bands, and even blankets there meant that I could participate at the same level that more experienced yogis could. This first session, I rolled out in the back as Jade started speaking. The whole experience was wonderful, but something she said stood out to me: when someone's phone rang and they apologized, Jade responded with a smile and said "Don't be sorry. This just means someone's thinking of you." And then I knew that the community was eager to share their wisdom and peace with others. On the community board (which highlights members, friends, and local services) I saw that the first month was available for a reduced price, and after such a wonderful first experience, I knew I was going to sign up. I'm almost done with this month and have practiced under different instructors but have found them all incredibly welcoming. I also appreciate the ability to participate from home, which I've done on several occasions, and an equal level of engagement from the instructor. I've had a really positive experience thus far and am excited for many more months of good yoga and community!

I've attended several classes at this studio…read more Lenore's sunrise strength class was a great way to wake up my muscles while watching the sun come up through the studio's picture windows. I've also taken rise and rest yoga with Lenore. This was a relaxing way to wind down from a busy day. I recently competed a yoga strength class with Amy. This was an all-level class and she offered us options to modify or intensify each move. Amy played a nice mix of songs from her phone during the class; however, the music kept being interrupted by notification dings, which was distracting. Overall, I found Grace Studio to be a decent place for a yoga workout. The studio is equipped with mats, weights, blocks, resistance bands, and bolsters. Instructors offer verbal assists rather than hands-on adjustments for yoga moves. Instructors are welcoming, the studio is bright and inviting, and classes are not crowded.

I love the teachers (especially Ronnie and Aubrey!) and they offer a variety of yoga styles and levels so there is really something for everyone. They offer classes in real time via zoom and via their video library so if you miss a class, you can take it when it's uploaded to the library. They are opening up the studio so in-person classes will be available in addition to zoom. Looking forward to being back on the mat, in person when it's safe to do so!

I rarely write reviews on yelp, unless my experience was very memorable in one of two ways - good…read moreor bad. If there was a possibility to give this place zero stars, I would. I take full responsibility for what I am writing here. In brief, this business is dishonest and has fraudulent practices. Let me explain. They used my credit card to charge me for 2 additional months of membership that I did not authorize. A few months ago, WYC and Kiron, the business owner, sent out an email with a special offer membership that had (and I quote) "no contract". I signed up for one month, because I knew I was moving away from DC in the near future. 1.5 months later I noticed repeating charges from WYC appearing on my cc. I wrote them, politely asking them to address the issue. I got a 3 sentence reply from Megan stating "it appears to be a membership charge and it will end in 3 months, the minimum for the membership". I wrote back again, this time in detail explaining what has happened and quoting their own advertisement. To date, 1.5 months later, the business has not acknowledged the issue or responded to me (same email address, so I know they read it regularly). I've never had such experience before with another business. I was clear and professional in my correspondance. Today I finally called my cc; they will deal with the business directly about the fraudulent charges moving forward. I've had one other unprofessional experience with WYC during my 1 month of membership with them. It took WYC 1.5 months to refund me an accidental charge that I was told would be refunded, and it took great persistence and effort on my part (multiple visits to talk to someone in person, multiple phone calls with no one returning my calls). There are other yoga places in this city that are credible. Practice your consumers rights and support them instead! I will never do business with WYC again.

Yoga Hikes DC was AWESOME!…read more Perfect combination of nature, yoga and trails. Danielle is an excellent instructor in articulating moves and proper form (adjusting you when needed), and she allows for the session to be adaptable to however intense you want it to be (eg. running up the hill or walking it). What a fantastic way to start the weekend!…read more I went on my second yoga hike today with Rachel, and while I already knew she was a wonderful teacher from practicing with her at Stroga, her energy, warmth, and humor are such a breath of fresh air on these yoga hikes. She provides excellent tips for both the hiking and yoga portions, and always encourages everyone on the hike to ask questions and really treat it as an opportunity to get one-on-one attention throughout the practice and the hike. She is also just so much fun! I HIGHLY recommend yoga hikes for a great workout (the hiking moves at a brisk pace, and it really keeps you warmed up for the yoga portions) that is both social and beautiful--what better place to do tree pose than under a tree in Rock Creek?! And, of course, shoutout to Squeaky the Frog, who really makes the trip. Take advantage of the amazing resource that is Rock Creek Park, and go on a Yoga Hike! It's just the best way to start the day.

I called Circle Yoga because it seemed like the friendliest studio in town and had the level one class i needed available. The receptionist was lovely. The teacher was terrific. It was a warm and compassionate space. The bookstore offerings were varied and not just stuff is seen everywhere else before. I only wish i could have returned for the sound accompanied class the next night but family scheduling wouldn't allow for that. Thank you Circle Yoga Team for making my awful personal experience physically bearable. I hope to be back in town soon for happier times and I'll definitely come back to this studio.

I will preface this with saying that I am taking a class at a reduced rate…read more I have enjoyed my class with Matthew very much. Sunday slowdown is a great way to begin a new work week. My concern is several classes were virtual only. I can't speak for everyone but I don't have the space to do a proper yoga class in my living room. Had I known this up front I wouldn't have signed up as this has meant missing several classes. There is an option take another class to make up for the class. I was able to do this once. But with my work schedule it's not easy to do so. In the future please be more up front with your students if not all the sessions will be in person. (Maybe it was mentioned and I didn't notice...it's possible. But it wasn't so clearly stated. If it had burn. I wouldn't have signed up) Sadly with this in mind I am less inclined to take another class. I may be paying less than other students but in the end did I actually save anything having missed several classes? **update: Anne, the owner, responded to this quickly. She apologized for the confusion and gave me a credit for the classes that were virtual only. Her excellent customer service and timely response are highly appreciated. I was pleased with both. And the class was excellent.
