    Lo Moon Y.

Let me start off by stating the obvious. Froyo rules. We all know this. Now add some super delish gourmet toppings like berries, butterfinger and even mochi and you're tastebuds are fighting for their right to party like it's 1999 all over again. Full disclosure - The Lo Mooners did not stop at this Travelplaza in Baker, CA for Yogurtland. We needed to switch out the pilot in Jaquie (our new rented rock mobile) and the Chevron seemed as good a place as any to do so. Whilst stopped we figured it was a smart move to visit the bathroom as we still had a long haul ahead of us. What I did not anticipate however, would be the subtle beckon of Yogurtland's pristine chrome corridor... it just seemed to whisper sweet and squishy nothings as I walked by... "Come boy, come hither and ascend to yogurt heaven." Resistance was futile. I served myself a combination of Dutch Chocolate, Coconut and Pistachio and proceeded to the final fantasy / the final nightmare - the TOPPINGS. I have always said that variety is the spice of life and this my friends is where a truly great toppings bar will outshine the rest. A top notch toppings bar will have all that you could conceive or desire and more. This particular one I must admit, was ok. Everything was pretty standard apart from what I first thought may have been salmon roe, but decided that that would be a little too far out for a Yogurtland in a Travelplaza in Baker, CA. I'm Still unsure of what it was but have added a pic so if anyone can tell me feel free to comment. I only managed to eat about half of my cup as it all melted within seconds of standing in the 110 degree heat outside. All in all a perfectly decent experience.

Delicious yogurt but 4 flavors were out. Still super good but why use artificial colors?

They have restrooms that you can use and it is located outside and gated so you know it is safe. The interior of the restroom was OK. It definitely needed more cleaning sessions and it did smell but it was fully stocked with toilet paper and seat liners so that's a plus. Given that this is one of those classic roadside spots that gives you exactly what you need, I didn't grade it as strict. This dairy queen as all the food items as their sister stores but I was able to find out that they did include fried cheese curds at this location. What a hidden find! I also got their chocolate dipped cone to eat afterwards. I got an order to go and was happy eating my freshly made cheese curds while charging my car at the nearvy TESLA chargers. Quick comf food plus a refreshing treat. The service was good and efficient, especially considering how busy it can get with travelers passing through. At this location, the interior dining is small with a few spots to sit down and enjoy your treats. Definitely plent of parking in the front for customers to make a pit stop.

Maybe I was hungry but it was surprisingly pretty good. The buns were soft and pattys tasted meaty without it being dry. Their blizzard treats were very refreshing during a drive. Restroom is connected to this gas station area. It was very busy when I went so the line was wrapped around outside. Luckily I had an RV to go to otherwise I'd probably had to wait for 15 mins.

We grabbed two burgers with the zucchini fries, and they did not disappoint. I'm obsessed with their gyro burger -- so flavorful and perfectly seasoned. My husband loves the pastrami one and says it's one of the best he's had on the road. The zucchini fries are a great twist and we always end up fighting over the last few. The lady working the register was super friendly and great with us. The place wasn't packed at all during the weekday, so the ambience felt relaxed and comfortable. Bonus highlight: they have the cutest pet cats that my daughters absolutely love watching through the window. It's the easiest (and most entertaining) distraction to keep the kids happy while we wait for our food! If you're driving through Baker, do yourself a favor and stop here. Solid food, friendly service, and a fun little vibe. We'll definitely be back on our next trip!

This morning, we were on the road earlier than usual, so I called at 7:46 AM hoping to place an order for pickup at 8:00 AM when they opened. The employee who answered sounded annoyed and immediately told me I had to call back at 8:00 AM to place the order. As someone who works in the restaurant industry, I understand policies and operating procedures. However, if staff are already in the building answering the phone, taking an order a few minutes early for pickup after opening seems like a simple way to provide good customer service and retain loyal customers. Instead, the interaction felt dismissive and unwelcoming. In today's economy, customer service and repeat business matter. Because of the experience, I chose not to stop, didn't charge my Tesla there as planned, and took my business elsewhere. It's unfortunate because this was a place I regularly visited and recommended during my trips.

This is the home to the world's largest thermometer and Alien Fresh Jerky. I cannot begin to tell you how many times I have driven past this place but never stopped. Now, I like aliens just as much as the next guy, but it was one of those places that I really had no reason to top of. But let me tell you, I am so glad that I did. In addition to having probably the largest selection of beef jerky next to buc-ee's, this place has more alien stuff than you can shake a stick at. Honestly, this place really does look like it belong on the Vegas strip with its big LED signs and alien motif all throughout the exterior. Additionally, they are in the process of building a UFO hotel. I'm going to tell you this. I will be there as one of the first guests in line when this thing opens up. Let's talk about the jerky for a second, they're not kidding when they say it's fresh. I have purchased multiple bags here on multiple occasions, and I got to tell you this is some of the best beef jerky you can ask for. It's super tasty, and not like that really nasty hard stuff you buy out of gas station convenience store, this stuff really is fresh. I don't know how to quantify alien fresh, but this jerky iis probably some of the best I've ever had. Tons of different flavors and heat levels for every person's taste. Bottom line? This place Is definitely the place to stop when you're out on the road going to or from Las Vegas from Orange county. Honestly, It's a perfect pit stop.

Unfortunately, the customer service has declined tremendously and has become borderline rude. During our visit today, our daughters wanted to use the souvenir penny machine, but it took their money and wasn't working. When I politely mentioned it to the cashier, "Vicky," her response was simply, "Yeah, it's broken," with no apology or concern at all. I suggested they may want to put up a sign so other customers don't lose money, and she just shrugged and tossed our purchased items toward us before dismissing us. It was a really disappointing experience, especially at a place we've enjoyed for so many years. Sadly, this will probably be our last stop here. At this point, places like EddieWorld seem far more welcoming and worth the visit.
