Tasty and fresh pastries pistachio backlava and cookies

I haven't been here in a while and I noticed there are a number of touchscreen menus so you can self order like they do at fast food joints .Which is great because I remember there were long lines here . Ordering is easy and there is an employee on the floor just in case there's problems. The Mad Greek seemed more efficient , eating area is clean and restrooms were up to par. Plenty of tables but it can get packed in here. Food still is good if not better and worth going to if you're on your way home from Vegas or on the way to Vegas. I'm Definitely coming back for a shake next time I'm on the 15N or South! See you soon Mad Greek!

Nice treat it beaming sun. Good tasting shake for sure. Value is ok as shakes are $10 a pop. Service was solid and efficient. Good ambiance but there's cars so if you allergic like I am, stay out or get out quick.

I love this place! There's so much character and the vibes are great, it's always such a fun place to visit. The woman who took our order was very friendly and attentive. I really enjoyed the gyro, it tasted super fresh and was big enough for 2 meals! Will definitely be back soon.

See the sign that says 20% off at The Mad Greek

Bait-and-switch pricing. Avoid this place! I stopped at The Mad Greek in Baker on my drive back from Las Vegas because of a huge billboard on the freeway advertising 20% off. After I ordered my meal, the owner refused to honor the discount and would only give me 10%. When I asked why, she claimed the deal was "only for locals"--even though the massive highway sign says absolutely nothing about a local restriction. Baker is a tourist transit town; pulling a "locals only" excuse on a freeway billboard is intentional false advertising. The owner is dishonest. Save your money and keep driving.

Chicken Souviaki - with hummus, no tomatoes and with Feta Fries/Drink.

On my way back to Las Vegas after going to the Universal Fan Fest on Friday evening, my husband and I stopped by The Mad Greek for lunch, on a Saturday morning around 10:15 A.M. We had been on the road for a few hours and wanted to get something to eat! The last time I visited the Mad Greek was about 20 years ago, on my way to Anaheim to visit the ADP HQ. It was good back then, and the food is still great! As soon as you walk inside the restaurant, you'll notice how spacious it is. There was table seating inside the restaurant in various locations. There is now self service kiosks where you can place your order, but there was also a team member at the register taking orders too. Their menu has changed though since I last visited. There are a lot more options you can choose from such as Breakfast items: Burritos, quesadillas and more! Hamburgers/Cheeseburgers Sandwiches (Patty Melt, BLT, Grilled cheese..) Salads Milkshakes and so much more! We decided to try the following Beef & Lamb Gyro Meal Combo - Rice/Drink Chicken Souviaki - with hummus, no tomatoes and with Feta Fries/Drink. The team member provided us with a buzzer which would let us know when the meal was ready. It was beautiful weather outside, around 80, so we ended up waiting outside at a table while our meal was getting prepared! We didn't wait too long either, about 10 minutes for the meal. It was pretty quick! My Chicken Souviaki included two skewers with lettuce and onions. The hummus was in a cup, so I was able to add as much of the hummus to the wrap as I needed. The hummus was more like a thin sauce though. It was still yummy! The chicken was quite flavorful and tender. I enjoyed the wrap. The Feta Fries though were super scrumptious! There was so much feta cheese on the Fries! I ended up dipping the French Fries into the hummus sauce! The French Fries were crunchy and just perfect! My husband and I ended up splitting the Feta Fries. I also had a chance to try out the rice, which was good, but I did like the Feta Fries better. We spent less than 30 minutes inside the restaurant, and then was back on the road to Las Vegas! The team members were helpful and friendly. The food was great. This would be my go to spot if I am looking for a quick meal at Bakersfield again!

Strawberry shake (Oops! I guess I ate all the zucchini fries before I got a picture)
    Jasmine M.

My suggestion is always get the fresh strawberry shake and the zucchini fries. These are my favorite picks. Crowded and always busy but we did manage to get a table. Service is only at counter (like fast food). Cordial but not personable. Could use an update in my opinion. Fast food vibe. Prices lean on the moderate to high but you can't get food like this at home and you have to consider the area.

Order at the counter or kiosk. Overpriced Greek food. I has a falafel and the oil it was cooked in tastes slightly rancid as if it's not changed often enough. They get you in and out quickly and the staff is friendly. They are playing Greek music . A quick place to fuel up and catch the bathroom.

    Feta fries, zucchini fries, tzatziki

Always driven by here and finally made a stop. You can't miss their billboards, along 15 freeway that advertise their famous real strawberry shake. The strawberry shake IS GOOD and they have some other shake options which I think would also be good as well. We did try the date and it was also very good. Other notable mentions are the fries/feta fries/ fried zucchini. Solid options with that dilly tzatziki sauce for dipping. The gyros however left much to be desired and prices are a little steep. Fast and friendly service as well.

Gyro and patty melt with fries
    Christian ..

I don't know what happened but something has changed. The food was subpar this time around, the restaurant wasn't even as busy as when we went a couple months back. Has a simple yet unique ambiance appreciating Greek culture. Going back to the food, the Gyro didn't even have sauce, ordered without veggies. My girl ordered a patty melt with grilled onions, didn't get onions, they did remake it. Also ordered zucchini fries, that took almost 20 min to get. Our shake was mid, very gritty and half way through tasted really odd.

Good place to stop by for a quick bite while on the road. The service is quick and the staff is nice. Be prepared to pay extra for any sauces but the portions are generous for the price.

Honestly I thought this was a spectacular stop for a roadtrip! It had enough pizzazz to it for me to stop for it with the cute way in which they decorated to feel like Greece! I got a strawberry milkshake and a beef gyro which were both great! The gyro wasn't exceptionally special because they don't put anything extra in it but it was decently good. I think the milkshake takes the cake though because it was so creamy and naturally flavored and you could tell! Would stop by here again if I'm on that part of the freeway! They also give free postcards and stickers if you ask!!

Love this place. The food is delicious. The Lamb and Beef Gyro is a must! The Date Shake is a fantastic sweet treat! We tried the zucchini fries. They were piping hot but on point. All good food. They have burgers, chicken, and traditional Greek entrees. The baklava is to die for! So yummy! Service is quick. The bathroom is clean and a great quick bathroom break stop. The ambience is my fave. They have kittens. Once we finished our food, we went to play with the kittens. They are adorable! And a sweet highlight of our visit.

This was my first time stopping in Baker for a meal and it was decent. The restaurant had kiosk ordering and counter ordering available. Both were quick and easy. The portions are pretty large, but the price is also quite steep. I get it...there aren't many options, so they will command the higher price. Overall, the experience was good. I wouldn't make it a point to stop here, but if everyone I am driving with is hungry, I would definitely return. Service was very good and fast!

I'm traveling tomorrow from California to Vegas, is it open? It's already 9/5/2021 Please update me...

Closed. Sadly. Looks like they are renovating. It was closed two weeks ago maybe they finished? Won't hurt to stop off that exit tho!

Does anyone know if and when they will reopen?

I just passed by, still closed😩it's still on renovations 7/6/21 I'm soooo disappointed

    Is it open?

    7/8/21 still closed.

Update 5/7/21: drove by to and from Vegas from SoCal. Closed. No work being done. No sign or info. I will now hate to drive to and from Vegas as this was the oasis in the desert during this drive. Please re-open!!…

Last went 4/17 and still closed with no opening in sight. I peaked inside and it didn't look like they are opening anytime soon

    Are you back open?

It's not open right now I just checked on way home from Vegas and got so sad.

Are you open at all during the pandemic for takeout?

It's not open right now I just checked on way home from Vegas and got so sad.

Is the falafel gluten free? Does it have flour in it?

I don't think this place is health conscious..I don't see any signs. A little gluten ain't gonna hurt

It's closed to no more 24hr?

    It's open 24hr 7 days a week

Easy and short menu but it seems like you guys have the recipes down. My husband came from afghanistan last year and he said he hasn't had a shawarma this good... EVER! Such yummy food that's halal. Several tables and high tops inside. Their menu is pretty extensive, more extensive then I would have thought. We placed a pick up order about 20 minutes before arriving, but had to wait another 10 min or so before it was ready. Drove to my family's house about 10 minutes away and opened up the containers and went to town. We ordered several of their dishes including their chicken shawrma, pita bread with extra garlic sauce and a kabob plate that came with hummus and outa and pickled vegetables. The food was good. Garlic sauce is not as good as I've had elsewhere. Chicken was tender and the beef was tender also. Unfortunately about 45 min later I was not feeling it. Ended up having some stomach issues afterwards. Won't gross anyone out with the details. But 3 of the 4 got sick and were not feeling good untill the next day. I dont think I'll be back here anytime soon.

Menu items here are still inflation proof with very reasonable pricing. The Hotcake Combo comes with two pancakes, two sausage and two eggs. The order came with an extra breakfast sausage. Pancakes were thick and fluffy with a good tender texture and vanilla flavor. Breakfast sausages were nicely seasoned and tasty. Eggs were made according to preference and were also tasty. I ordered a Pastrami Omelette which is rarely found on menus. The thin sliced pastrami was lightly frizzled on the grill to give it a slightly crispy edge. The portion size was generous as a filling for the eggs. The omelette was topped with a melted processed Swiss cheese slice. I would op to omit the cheese altogether the next time since the omelette was good without it. The hash brown potatoes were crispy on the edges. The breakfast plate came with a good quality sourdough toast. All in all, a good breakfast can be found here for a good price. All food is made to order. I plan to stop by again to try the gyro sandwich and their Vegetable Combo of assorted Mediterranean side dishes like hummus, baba ganoush, grape leaves, and tabbouleh. Service was friendly and efficient. The dining room area is well lit, airy, and very clean.
