Nice treat it beaming sun. Good tasting shake for sure. Value is ok as shakes are $10 a pop. Service was solid and efficient. Good ambiance but there's cars so if you allergic like I am, stay out or get out quick.

Good place to stop by for a quick bite while on the road. The service is quick and the staff is nice. Be prepared to pay extra for any sauces but the portions are generous for the price.

Honestly I thought this was a spectacular stop for a roadtrip! It had enough pizzazz to it for me to stop for it with the cute way in which they decorated to feel like Greece! I got a strawberry milkshake and a beef gyro which were both great! The gyro wasn't exceptionally special because they don't put anything extra in it but it was decently good. I think the milkshake takes the cake though because it was so creamy and naturally flavored and you could tell! Would stop by here again if I'm on that part of the freeway! They also give free postcards and stickers if you ask!!

Love this place. The food is delicious. The Lamb and Beef Gyro is a must! The Date Shake is a fantastic sweet treat! We tried the zucchini fries. They were piping hot but on point. All good food. They have burgers, chicken, and traditional Greek entrees. The baklava is to die for! So yummy! Service is quick. The bathroom is clean and a great quick bathroom break stop. The ambience is my fave. They have kittens. Once we finished our food, we went to play with the kittens. They are adorable! And a sweet highlight of our visit.

Chicken Souviaki - with hummus, no tomatoes and with Feta Fries/Drink.

On my way back to Las Vegas after going to the Universal Fan Fest on Friday evening, my husband and I stopped by The Mad Greek for lunch, on a Saturday morning around 10:15 A.M. We had been on the road for a few hours and wanted to get something to eat! The last time I visited the Mad Greek was about 20 years ago, on my way to Anaheim to visit the ADP HQ. It was good back then, and the food is still great! As soon as you walk inside the restaurant, you'll notice how spacious it is. There was table seating inside the restaurant in various locations. There is now self service kiosks where you can place your order, but there was also a team member at the register taking orders too. Their menu has changed though since I last visited. There are a lot more options you can choose from such as Breakfast items: Burritos, quesadillas and more! Hamburgers/Cheeseburgers Sandwiches (Patty Melt, BLT, Grilled cheese..) Salads Milkshakes and so much more! We decided to try the following Beef & Lamb Gyro Meal Combo - Rice/Drink Chicken Souviaki - with hummus, no tomatoes and with Feta Fries/Drink. The team member provided us with a buzzer which would let us know when the meal was ready. It was beautiful weather outside, around 80, so we ended up waiting outside at a table while our meal was getting prepared! We didn't wait too long either, about 10 minutes for the meal. It was pretty quick! My Chicken Souviaki included two skewers with lettuce and onions. The hummus was in a cup, so I was able to add as much of the hummus to the wrap as I needed. The hummus was more like a thin sauce though. It was still yummy! The chicken was quite flavorful and tender. I enjoyed the wrap. The Feta Fries though were super scrumptious! There was so much feta cheese on the Fries! I ended up dipping the French Fries into the hummus sauce! The French Fries were crunchy and just perfect! My husband and I ended up splitting the Feta Fries. I also had a chance to try out the rice, which was good, but I did like the Feta Fries better. We spent less than 30 minutes inside the restaurant, and then was back on the road to Las Vegas! The team members were helpful and friendly. The food was great. This would be my go to spot if I am looking for a quick meal at Bakersfield again!

Strawberry shake (Oops! I guess I ate all the zucchini fries before I got a picture)

My suggestion is always get the fresh strawberry shake and the zucchini fries. These are my favorite picks. Crowded and always busy but we did manage to get a table. Service is only at counter (like fast food). Cordial but not personable. Could use an update in my opinion. Fast food vibe. Prices lean on the moderate to high but you can't get food like this at home and you have to consider the area.

Feta fries, zucchini fries, tzatziki

Always driven by here and finally made a stop. You can't miss their billboards, along 15 freeway that advertise their famous real strawberry shake. The strawberry shake IS GOOD and they have some other shake options which I think would also be good as well. We did try the date and it was also very good. Other notable mentions are the fries/feta fries/ fried zucchini. Solid options with that dilly tzatziki sauce for dipping. The gyros however left much to be desired and prices are a little steep. Fast and friendly service as well.

This was my first time stopping in Baker for a meal and it was decent. The restaurant had kiosk ordering and counter ordering available. Both were quick and easy. The portions are pretty large, but the price is also quite steep. I get it...there aren't many options, so they will command the higher price. Overall, the experience was good. I wouldn't make it a point to stop here, but if everyone I am driving with is hungry, I would definitely return. Service was very good and fast!

Stopped by Baker again on our way home to Pomona from Vegas this afternoon. This time we tried The Mad Greek. Plenty of seating, clean bathrooms, easy ordering of food on touchscreens, my husband ordered the beef gyro wrap and I just needed a beverage (still full from the buffets at the Paris Las Vegas conference). The staff was friendly, the food was ready within 10 minutes, and it was satisfying but not remarkable. Kudos to the Mad Greek for offering travelers food that isn't a fast food franchise.

Finally got to try this place on the way to Vegas! I got the beef and lamb gyro wrap and it was delicious!! Super filling wrap. Will definitely be back to try more menu items.

Beef/Lamb Gyro

Pretty good Mediterranean place as a quick pit stop lunch toward Vegas if coming from SoCal! My husband and I were pretty hungry and decided to get their gyros here. We both had their beef/lamb gyros and also their zucchini sticks. The gyros were filled with lots of meat and came with packets of tzatziki sauce which was nice. They were good and fresh. I wasn't too fond of their zucchini sticks just because it was way more batter than there was zucchini. Overall, I'd be back again for a quick gyro!

Almost to Vegas

Great little stop at The Mad Greek on our way to Vegas. After some time on the road, this was the perfect place to stop, take a breather, have a bite, then head on back on the road. Arrived at around 7pm after a treacherous few hours in holiday rainy weather up the Cajon pass. The staff were super sweet and kind when we took some extra time to look at the menu. The decor in this place was super cute and kitschy. Blue and white colors and Greek statues covered the place which was totally fun. They also had lots of grinch decor up for the holiday which was adorable. For food, we grabbed two gyros and some feta fries. I love a gyro, but the fries were the ultimate star of this meal. Lightly battered and fried, so good. We upgraded to the feta fries which was a great choice. Nice little 30 minutes spent before heading back on the road to Vegas. Next time I'll try one of the desserts!

I have great memories of getting a chocolate shake from this location in the past, but unfortunately, they seem to change the ingredients. Tasted very chemically and not much like ice cream at all. The good news is the cookies were fantastic.

I'm traveling tomorrow from California to Vegas, is it open? It's already 9/5/2021 Please update me...

Closed. Sadly. Looks like they are renovating. It was closed two weeks ago maybe they finished? Won't hurt to stop off that exit tho!

Does anyone know if and when they will reopen?

I just passed by, still closed😩it's still on renovations 7/6/21 I'm soooo disappointed

Is it open?

7/8/21 still closed.

Update 5/7/21: drove by to and from Vegas from SoCal. Closed. No work being done. No sign or info. I will now hate to drive to and from Vegas as this was the oasis in the desert during this drive. Please re-open!!…

Last went 4/17 and still closed with no opening in sight. I peaked inside and it didn't look like they are opening anytime soon

Are you back open?

It's not open right now I just checked on way home from Vegas and got so sad.

Are you open at all during the pandemic for takeout?

It's not open right now I just checked on way home from Vegas and got so sad.

Is the falafel gluten free? Does it have flour in it?

I don't think this place is health conscious..I don't see any signs. A little gluten ain't gonna hurt

It's closed to no more 24hr?

It's open 24hr 7 days a week

Same young man listened and said he "has to talk to the big boss" and could he give me a call in a few minutes. I waited about 5 minutes and he called back. He then said, "unfortunately the Manger in charge of refunds isn't in until tomorrow" (so, I guess the Big Boss can't issue refund or replacement) Now I have to wait for a call tomorrow to see IF they will do something for us. But the young man did, in a round about way blame the customer. "The lid was placed on it properly. We don't have control over when it leaves the building" I explained that the drive home shook the hummus off the baklava and the lid popped off, so it's our fault? He said, "I didn't say that. I'm saying there are a hundred different variables that could have cause this".... but none of them is the restaurants fault... Right? I'll have another update tomorrow when/IF I get a call. Hubby & I went here for lunch today. When we walked in we were greeted by a young man. He said we could sit anywhere we'd like and he'd be right over with menus. There was one table with patrons. We waited maybe 5 minutes and finally a young lady from the back asked if we had menus yet. No. So SHE brought us menus. Then the young man came by, friendly and politely although not very punctual said "what can I get you to drink?" Easy order. Iced tea and a Diet Coke. We ordered our lunches at that time because it was a long while before he finally came over. I got my pita, hummus and salad from the lady in the kitchen BEFORE our drinks. Waited. Waited. Waited. Hubby finally flagged him over and said, "Can we get our drinks now?" "Oh yeah. Ill be right back with those" He ended up serving the only other table their food before finally coming back with our drinks. I was already irritated. Maybe a little hangry. But, at that point I was over it. We never got a check. Walked to the register and told him we were done. We did take baklava and hummus to go. 2 lunches, 2 drinks, baklava and hummus. $80??? We finally got the hummus and baklava home. The young man apparently stacked the hummus on top of the baklava. During the drive, it must have slid off the baklava and all the oil and hummus leaked out of the container and all over the baklava and bag. Hubby was so disappointed, he threw the whole thing away. So, I guess, 2 lunches and some oily trash for $80 and HORRIBLE customer service. Giving 2 stars because what we DID actually eat was good. I wish I would have gotten the garlic paste the young man said he'd bring me. And wish we would have gotten to try the baklava we spent $27 on. Horrible experience. Won't be going back.

The whole situation felt awkward and unprofessional, especially considering the amount of time and money we spent there that evening.
