By the design stand point of view all the way to the last touch regarding the location of your picture. When I met Yoko, I knew instantly she would be the perfect person to tackle my remodel. Our boys have left home, and the bedrooms they left behind were frightening! I wanted the three rock star and ice hockey poster-splattered bedrooms to become serene new rooms for guests, including my sons and their sweet girlfriends. We had to re-configure a den that connects two of the bedrooms, and one bathroom was completely trashed. It was a big project, but we didn't have big bucks. Yoko went over the cost of every potential item and where we could save, showing incredible patience. Her workers are respectful, wonderful people, and that meant a lot; they were in our home for months, and I really enjoyed them. I so appreciated that the project was completed on schedule; I'd heard horror stories of remodels that never ended. The house has been transformed! I am no longer ashamed when guests come to stay. Best of all, my sons are no longer embarrassed to bring their girlfriends into their ratty old rooms. The rooms are comfortable for everyone, with great pops of color and interesting art. We hired Yoko to do 3 projects over time: 1) whole house interior paint color, 2) living room sofa and chair reupholstering, and 3) our master bedroom furniture layout and custom headboard. We live in an old house and have many sentimental furniture pieces passed down to us from our families. She worked with all our old furniture pieces and gave them new life. Also, she gave energy to our new king size bed box spring and frame by adding a new custom headboard (with no chemical die fabric because of my wife's allergies). Before hiring her, we looked around but just couldn't find any well-made, modern upholstered headboards. More, she integrated our tastes (My wife and I couldn't agree on colors and such.) We also like the Japanese zen style that she brings to her design. Overall, we are very happy with her work and the entire process of working with her. We hired Yoko for two projects: 1. Pick colors to repaint the entire inside of our house. 2. Purchase custom window treatments for the family room and kitchen. We were very pleased with the outcome of both projects and got many compliments from our friends on the beautiful looks. Yoko has a great eye and did an outstanding job picking wall colors that would compliment our existing furnishings and accessories. She was very patient and made sure that both, my husband and I, would like the selected color scheme. When it came to selecting the fabric for the second project, the valances for the family room and kitchen, she was extremely helpful with narrowing my many ideas down to the perfect look, offering her own suggestions, but always listening to my wishes. We had all our major living sections remodeled (master bed & bath, kitchen, family room, formal dining, etc.) redesigned and decorated. Yoko did a fantastic job, surprised us by keeping within our budget. We wanted uncluttered, elegant, pleasing colors. Yoko said she did "Zen design", meaning simple and harmonious, which is what we got. Even the fittings and fixtures blend in to the whole look, the feeling. Great person to work with. Yoko and her team are simply a "must have" when planning for a remodel and redesign project. I had a real challenge on my hands, a 1250 SF townhome in need of full remodeling....kitchen, baths, flooring, millwork, fireplace/bookcase etc. I was overwhelmed and had no idea where to start......and petrified that if I took on the project without help I would spend a lot of money and end up producing a flop (aka wasted money.)
