They do good work but the cost is insane. I paid $475 for my wedding dress alterations. Came for my second fitting and it was still too big(maybe .5inch) on each side. And they asked if I had lost any weight. I hadn't weighted myself but I assumed I had lost maybe 1-2lbs so I was honest and they told me that since it is not their fault I needed to pay another $185 for them to alter again. Now, I would understand if my dress had extensive detail as that's redoing it. But it was a plain white dress. No detail or any designs. Just the material. I am not one to argue because I respect the work and don't like to cause a scene but I was so caught off guard and frustrated I went back and forth with the lady. She came down to $150 instead but still just seems ridiculous that I even had to? That tells me there is wiggle room and if you react you'll get it cheaper? I don't get it. Overall, I would encourage future brides to explore their options before just taking it to the place everyone goes to. Again, I don't typically get frustrated and understand and want to pay them what they deserve but I had already paid. A dress like what I have should not cost $650 for alterations.. especially when I paid extra for custom sizing so the total alteration was a total 2 inches each side. read more

I purchased my wedding dress from Gretchen's Bridal, who recommended I use Young's Alterations. I had my first fitting appointment & explained that I'd like a slit cut into the dress, and aside from that my only alterations were length and bussle bc my dress fit almost perfectly as is. They charged me $650 ,which seemed crazy high considering it was a plain white dress with no detailing or anything and very few alterations needed, but my real issue was that I needed to pay it all up front before they would start the work. I did, even though I was hesitant because what if they made a mistake? Anyways my second fitting was 3 weeks before my wedding, and everything was fine, but the slit you could barely see. I was worried about timing so I accepted it since it wasn't terrible. This is where things really took a turn. I bought a care package from the bridal store that included my final press & steam, but they shut down. So I asked Young's if they could do it & they said yes. I left my dress with them and said I'd pick up 2 days before the wedding. Again, they told me I needed to pay the $150 for pressing prior to them doing it. I didn't have my card, so I told them I'd call and get it paid. She said no rush because they weren't going to press it until closer to the wedding date anyways. The next week, my husband (we eloped & this wedding was going to be a ceremony celebration on our 1yr anniversary) left me & said he wanted a divorce, pretty much out of the blue. At this point I'm devastated & shocked, but our wedding was 2 weeks away and I needed to cancel everything. I called Young's and said I did not need them to press it anymore bc of the cancellation, and she said she understood, was sorry to hear about my situation, and told me to pick up whenever was convenient. I clarified and she said multiple times that they HAD NOT and WOULD NOT steam/press it. Well, I went to pick up my dress today, and the two women there said I owed $150 on it for the pressing. I explained the situation again and that I spoke to someone on the phone who assured me they wouldn't press it, but they told me there must have been a miscommunication & I still had to pay bc they already completed the labor and they would be out $ if I didn't. I told her I'm sorry & that I understand that difficulty, because after all, I'm out $40k I spent on a wedding that never happened. She still argued with me demanding I pay at least $55 for the labor, in which I told her I literally couldn't because my husband left me with no money and I didn't have $55 to pay her. I even let her run my card, which got declined. She still would not allow me to take MY dress which I already paid them $650 for, for mediocre alterations that were way overpriced. I ended up having to call someone to borrow the $55 from so I could leave with my dress. All in all, I would have left 3 stars without today's experience. They aren't terrible at what they do, but they also aren't amazing. It's strange that you have to pay in full before seeing the work they do. But my breaking point is that they have NO empathy whatsoever. After I gave in & paid them, the woman asked "so no problems between you & your husband, right? you just cancelled the wedding?" as if I didn't just tell her about our problems 3-4x, and then acted so sad to hear when I told her a final time that there are indeed many problems between my husband and i. read more

Yep, I've found my go-to place to get my clothes tailored and altered. Yong's is a no-nonsense place with great prices and a fast turnaround. I needed a dress taken in for a wedding I was going to be attending. It cost about $45 to get my dress tailored -- which is not bad, considering they were taking in my dress one full size, and the dress had two layers. It was ready in about 10 days, and when I tried it on, it fit perfectly. I was debating getting the same dress shortened, but after talking to the woman who worked there, she gave me her honest opinion that she thought it looked good the length that it was. She could have just charged me extra to also hem the dress, but she didn't, and it turns out she was right -- after she took in the dress, it was the perfect length. I like working with people who are honest and who are looking out for their customers, and you'll find that here at Yong's. Each time I visited the shop, they had multiple customers in the store, so it looks like lots of people trust Yong's with their clothing. There were three brides-to-be there on the day when I went to pick up my dress, so it seems like they get a lot of bridal alterations. Bonus: Yong's is located next door to Trader Joe's, so you can do some shopping after you drop off / pick up your garments! read more

This spot is the best. I trust them fully. I was first recommended to them from the store where I bought my wedding dress. They send all of their brides to Yong's for dress alterations, which truly has to be the most difficult thing to alter. When you walk in, you'll see wedding dresses everywhere. After they did a perfect job on my dress, I started bringing other clothing items in - a pair of shorts, a skirt, and my winter jacket when the zipper broke. They've done a great job on each item and the prices have all been reasonable. Paying $18 to bring in the waist on a pair of shorts is cheaper than buying a new pair. The women working here are super quick, efficient, and have a sarcastic sense of humor that I really appreciate. Great spot! read more

Very quick and reliable alteration business. The wedding dress shop next door refers their customers to Yong's so they can get quite busy depending on the time of year. I had a bridesmaids dress altered. They hemmed the bottom and shortened the straps. It took 2 weeks and they gave me the pickup date when I dropped off the dress. I liked that I knew when the dress would be ready. They can often work with you if you need a quick turn around. They do amazing work so you get what you pay for. I was referred here from the place that I purchased my wedding dress. Everybody there was great. I called and made my appointment ahead of time and once I arrived they were ready and waiting for me. I tried on my dress and explained what I wanted and pin's were placed to remember. I was shocked at the price, as I was expecting to spend more. Also, the turn around time was amazing. Picked up my dress! One of the last things on my list to do; excited the planning is almost done. I had to go to Yong's during my lunch break, so I still had my scrubs and nurse clogs on. I figured I didn't need to bring the shoes I'll be wearing because it's the same heel height as my clogs. I was definitely feeling really happy about picking up my dress...but.. ...during this last fitting and they noticed the tulle was not cut evenly. No biggie, a gal came out from the back with scissors and after she made sure my dress was straightened out she began to cut. She noticed my shoes and mockingly asked if those were the shoes I was wearing. It caught me off guard and I explained they were my work shoes, but the same heel height. She chuckled with the other lady about them and also made comments in their native language. I felt really uncomfortable, ugly and almost embarrassed that I didn't bring my shoes...BUT come on, who cares and what if I was going to wear those shoes?? If you're going to poke fun, then do it after I leave. Would I still recommend them? Sure, they do great work... customer service needs a little work though. read more

I came to Yong's because of the great reviews and when I arrived, I saw how many dresses she had hanging up and I knew I came to the right place. It's apparent that people trust her and alter their most important dress. I was a little shocked by the price of alterations for my dress but I never did my research on how much it would cost. I had to get my bodice shorted by the shoulders, a lot of length cut off the bottom and then the sides taken in for a snug fit. The dress looked so amazing on and felt so comfortable. They're really busy so appointments are recommended but they do take walk-ins. The place itself is compact and basic so i wouldn't bring an entourage. Yong's was highly recommended to me when looking for a place to do alterations on my wedding dress. I had several appointments at Yong's. I got my dress hemmed and added cap sleeves with lacy material. Each time I had an appointment my dress was ready and the adjustments had been made. The staff at Yong's helped me get in and out of the dress. I don't know how the staff keeps track of everything but they do! I never had a problem with anything from start to finish and this included the store being shut for a bit with the virus. My hem and sleeves are perfect and they steamed the dress for me and placed it in my car. Yong's Alterations was recommended to us by Marie Gabriel, where my daughter purchased her wedding gown. We were very pleased with their customer service and the work that they did on both my daughters wedding gown and my mother of the bride gown. My daughter loved the deep V cut style, however she wanted it to cover a little more of her so that she was comfortable during her wedding and didn't think about it at all. Ms. Yong was able to make the dress look as if it was made that way after her alterations were done. You would've never even known the V was a wider cut originally!! She did an absolutely beautiful job. She also hemmed the dress and altered my daughter's over skirt which needed to be smaller and shorter. One of Mrs. Young's assistant's did my mother of the bride dress which needed to be tightened and hemmed. They did a fabulous job on that as well!! They were timely in getting everything done and my daughter even had time to go back for a third appointment just to be sure that everything was exactly right. They were friendly and easy to work with. One piece of advice is to pick one cell number when making your appointment. Between my daughter and I, we never could remember which phone number or account was under! I've been to this alteration shop plenty of times, I usually service good service. However the service I received today was unacceptable. The store was pretty full. I waited in line until it was my turn. I told the cashier what I wanted done and asked her if I can pick the pants at a later time. She said no and to go somewhere else because they were busy. I stated I noticed she told everyone else in front of me a time and date they can expect their items to be completed, but she refused to service me. She gave me a blank stare. I asked her for her name. She refused to give me her name. I asked to speak to the manager. She told me that the manager was busy. After refusing to give me her name and the managers information. She went to the back of the store to get the manager. The manager came up she very apologetic and apologized for the service I received. I understand it is wedding season however no one should be treated like that. This was unacceptable customer experience. Signed a very concern customer. read more

I won't be going back to Yong's again. I am a 100 lb 5 ft female and almost everything I buy needs some kind of alteration to fit me. Every time I go in, the lady tries to convince me NOT to get any alterations. It's odd that I have to convince her. She is rude about it and it makes me extremely uncomfortable. This time was the last straw as she was arguing with me about not needing my jeans taken in. Given that the jeans would not stay on my waist without an alteration of some sort, I was floored she was saying I shouldn't get anything taken in. You would think they'd want the business, but I'll be taking my clothes to someone who actually listens to the customer and wants to help. I'll also be taking my clothes to someone who is KIND. My wedding dress alterations were botched by another tailor in town and I brought the dress to Yong's to see if they could help. I had a simple dress-a vintage sundress-but only 10 days until the event and needed the bust reworked. While I certainly understand that they are busy and may not have been able to help, they wouldn't even look at the dress and were frankly, unkind. Again, it appears they do very good work per reviews but the customer service I received-or lack there of-was enough to convince me to never bring them business. My daughter just left there in tears. This was her third visit. The second visit they couldn't find her dress for a while, when they did alterations were not done and they told us to come back in an hour. We did, what they had done was ok except the bustle looked rough. They said they could add lace appliques to them for them to not look so noticeable so we let them keep it again. Third visit, it took forever for them to find and then they didn't put the lace appliques on it, they just steamed it. I am furious. I didn't go to the last visit since I really thought there would be no way they would screw up again, but they did and she left with the dress because there is now no trust with this company. Amazing work. I bought my dress from Sophia's in Greenwood last year during their sample sale. I was worried because it was a size 16. At the time I was a size 10/12 so it definitely needed altered. Then at the beginning of this year I had a major jaw surgery and got down to a size 6. So the dress needed to go down 10 sizes, and she did it beautifully! I was worried it would look like a totally different dress, but it looked the same! My dress had a lot of beading and jewels, and everything just turned out flawless. I purchased a lace dress with a good shape, but a tie up back that was reminiscent of my junior prom and not in a good way. Typical me, waiting until the last minute flying to stuff done, and in this case it was hit or miss. My boyfriend and I are going to a military ball a week from today and I needed my dress altered STAT. The sleeves were too long on the dress which made them fold over and baggy. I was searching all through yelp and this alterations place had the best reviews out of all of them- fast and reasonably priced! I can totally attest to this that they told me my dress would be ready in 1 week, AND it only cost me $32! #blessed The shop itself isn't overly nice, but it definitely does the job. There were multiple people in there trying on clothes to get hemmed, which made it feel smaller in there. The staff was super nice and welcoming as well. Update: The business owner did respond to this post but her response was a blanket response. She stated that she thought I left happy when the last words I said to them were, "this dress is still ill fitting but the weddings coming up so it'll have to do." Not sure why they would think I was happy. Also, she offered to make it right on the dress, BUT the wedding has already passed so why would I need to get the altered. I made it very clear that the dress still didn't fit and that I was very unhappy. It appears that the owner replies to all negative reviews in a passive way to make the customer take credit of the mishap, she never takes ownership of a bad job. They also never acknowledge the fact they made me feel so uncomfortable while getting fitting. At some point an owner should apologize that they made a paying customer feel embarrassed while shopping with them. I lowered my review based on the response from the owner. read more
