This centre came to my attention as one of my friends use to use it for her dog. I was very…read moredisappointed since our first visit there and I would wish not to even bother and registered with them. They are too expensive, charge you £25.60 per every 10 minutes and then + treatments. We have recently moved to area and our dog was having a difficulty to hold a wee. As we were worried, we have called this vet up and made a visit. Before the actual appointment we read some articles online as well as spoke to our previous vet. As a result both- internet and our old vet have advised that this might be simple because of location change. As the appointment was made already, we went to see the vet. She said that can not see any complications but she wants to take some urine samples. That visit cost us £25.60 already. We have brought urine samples in next day. Previously receptionist has advised us that samples will cost £1.70 and it only takes a minute therefore we do not have to see vet and pay consultation fee. However, on that day, they have tried to charge us another £25.60 + £1.70 only because vet came out and said that samples are o.k. but she wants to do some additional tests. When asked how much would be the other tests- we were advised that it would be around £70. Well- that was the last time I went to this Centre. Our dog was fine a week after that without any treatments and, as our previous vet has advised; it was only a change of location. I would not recommend to anyone to use this Clinic to threat your dog as it is overpriced and they charge you for everything. Bear in mind that consultation fee is £25.60 per every 10 minutes, therefore as soon as you get in and start explaining what problem your lovely pet is having, YOU ARE GETTING CHARGED.

I own a small puppy so sometimes only when my puppy is ill i come here, fee prices depend on the illness. It can be costly to over a hundred pounds depending on the illness really. Checkup fees cost you around 30 quid here.

I would urge anyone with a pet to bring them to see Bippin at Oakwood Veterinary Surgery. I always…read morefelt at vets that I used for previous pets that I could't quite trust them to put my pet first - they are so focused on making money. Bippin is one of only two independent vets left in Leeds. He is eminently sensible and is happy to go for the 'watch and wait' approach even though that means he makes less money. When my labrador puppy was diagnosed with hip dysplasia and I had been watching too much Supervet he counselled me to hold back on surgery, and I am so glad I did as, with the appropriate meds, he is happy and fit and didn't have to go through months of recovery. Bippin always squeezes me in to pick up medicine or for a quick check if I am worried about something. I really hope he never retires as I could not go back to one of the money making factories like Holly House which look fabulous but in which the vets have profit targets. Yes, the surgery is a little bit scruffy, but what matters is the quality of care and the years of experience that Bippin has. I know he cares because I once went in after he'd had to put a dog down that he had known since it was a puppy and he was really sad about it.

Oakwood Vets actually cared about our cat and made her feel at ease, I would highly recommend him, he has so much experience and cares about animals. He also explains things to you so you know what is going on. I wouldn't take my cat anywhere else.

Update: We have received our pets' clinical records now. On the latest, it states "DO NOT…read moreTRUST/CARE" I've been with them as a regular customer for 3 years + (for 3 pets). However, my most recent experience with them has left me now moving vets. Summary - overbooking appointments so vets are always in a hurry and delayed. Thus not able to give thorough care. 1.Lack of proper COVID provisions, overbooking and delays Yesterday we had an appointment and my husband ended up waiting for an hour. They didn't have a suitable provision in place for waiting outside and were very delayed. As a result, there was limited social distancing and animals were very close to one another outside. Our dog became very stressed and my husband informed the receptionist that he was going to wait at the front of the cafe next door. Although this was agreed with the staff, they obviously forgot about it. My husband was left waiting for an hour..... When he went in it was clear they had forgotten. So we rebooked for today... 2. Lack of professionalism - Unclear instructions from the vets, less than 5 min time for over £60. The vet was polite but seemed to be in a bit of a hurry. There were two wound sites we wanted to have inspected but the vets just looked at one. The vets were in a hurry and didn't take time to explain what they wanted me to do with the dog and why. So when I failed to understand they got annoyed at me. He instructed me to hold the dog's harness which I did. But the dog growled and turned his head towards the vet. The vet then made a sarcastic comment of "so much for holding his harness". I was confused as I was still holding his harness. If he spent 30 more seconds explaining what he wanted to do next and why he wanted me to hold the dog in a certain way then I could have done it. We were in there for around 3 mins and charged over £60 for the service and a cream. We have now decided to move vets. Our pets are so important to us and if something were to happen due to the poor quality of care and services then I would never forgive myself.

My first choice of vets in Rochdale (and I've tried many!)…read moreMy dog Ruby broke her leg and had to have an amputation. It was very distressing for me and Ruby, but the vets there reassured me that she would be ok, and treated Ruby with lots of love! My mum's dog, Bonnie was very old and had cancer. We had to take her to the vets regularly, but we always felt much better leaving with the advice and kind words that the staff there gave us. When her time came, and we made the decision to have her put to sleep, Jonathan the vet was brilliant with us. He helped make Bonnie feel calm in her last moments and he was so kind and understanding with us. It really helped us come to terms with our loss, knowing that she died in peace and with her family with her. I always recommend this vets surgery to anyone with pets.

We got our dog Pippa about 22 months ago and wanted the best for our dog Pippa. This vet was…read morerecommended to us and I can honestly say the standard of care is exceptional. Pippa has had standard vaccinations, a routine operation and has had to be seen twice urgently. Once, when she was sick and once when she cut her paw. On both of these occasions, Pippa was seen quickly and treated accordingly. We don't have pet insurance but so far the charges haven't been unreasonable. They also sell pet food and other standard items for your pet, like Frontline or worming tablets. The receptionists are always accommodating and have offered us invaluable advice (as we were new to owning a dog). There is free parking at the rear and we are never kept waiting long/ I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this vet if you want the best care for your pet. The vet always remembers Pippa and refers to her by name, which is a nice personal touch. They are also open on a Saturday morning.
