Under no circumstances, would I ever recommend YouMoveMe to anyone. I am a navy veteran that grew up in a military home and I've moved no less than 30 times in my life. This was absolutely the worst move of my entire life. We have been lied to frequently, our move way exceeded the estimate by almost double, and nearly have of our furniture was damaged or destroyed. If that wasn't enough, the claims process has been a nightmare and the company stopped responding to us. Let's start from the beginning. Derek Ryan, the estimator, was not on time. He is a bit rough around the edges, but he talks a strong game and makes lots of promises. Promises on behalf of the company which were not kept. He told us that every employee of YouMoveMe was a full-time employee and that there were no temporary hires. Every employee would show up dressed professionally in a YouMoveMe uniform. Being as they had strong crews that have worked together for years, they would take the utmost care in wrapping our furniture and protecting the home. Needless to say, every single thing that was mentioned above was a lie. Not one single person was in a uniform. I had college kids, with saggy pants and their underwear hanging out wearing wife beaters. Many of the employees had started that week and were moving furniture with no knowledge. At one point 2 kids are holding our couch trying to figure out how to move it though our front door and one of the other movers had to step in and instruct them to rotate the couch. I figured this would be moving 101. These inefficiencies were quickly tallying up as the time on the clock was running. The crew came in and started moving things without protecting the home in any which way. This was incredibly disturbing as it was discussed thoroughly beforehand with Derek who assured us that care of the home and our belongings was the biggest priority of the company. Another lie. The movers were taking things out of the house so quickly that many items were not fully wrapped. It was horrifying. We had a set of matching pottery barn book cases that were located upstairs. The movers picked the first one up by its legs and as they were carrying it down the stairs, the legs ripped off. The mover looked at me and said, that looks like presswood and we won't pay for that. No less than 2 minutes later, they carry the next bookcase down in the same exact manner and its legs ripped off as well. There was no concern for our belongings. We watched as lampshades were dropped on the ground, then literally thrown on top of boxes in the back of the truck. We watched our Gardyn hydroponic system being hastily carried by a young mover get dropped and shatter all over the asphalt. Boxes dropped. Heavy objects stacked onto leather chairs and softer objects, destroying them I the process. We had a full set of crate and barrel, white, leather dining chairs that were nearly $700 each. We watched horrified as they got tossed around, poorly wrapped, then stacked with heavy objects. This discolored the leather and stretched the leather out, completely ruining their beauty. We had brand new ArHaus furniture pieces that we watched horrified as they were stood up on their side and then scooted along the ground, grinding the finish away. A metal and acacia table from ArHaus was broken from lack of care after we repeatedly warned them that it was incredible expensive and to please take extra care. Again, no regard for the care furniture. This continues on in all sorts of wash, from stacking boxes onto our crushed velvet swivel chairs, stretching and tearing the fabric, to loading boxes onto our couch cushions, disfiguring them. Our outdoor furniture was treated so poorly. We had a set from crate and barrel, the broke apart the areas where the wood was joined. Dropped them and chipped of chunks of wood. Gouged out pieces (I don't even know how) on the arm rests, and lost the hardware that connects them. Then, they also took our cushions and shoved them into what they call a "speed box" I'll get to the horrors of these later. Then they stacked heavy objects on top of those. They were so badly mangled, and the SunBrella fabric, stretched, that they are not even functional. We couldn't believe it. They dropped our concrete outdoor tables. One cracked in half. They didn't even mention it to us. The other has multiple chips out of it. We had a $700 large, realistic, but fake agave potted plant. Destroyed. They stacked boxes on top of it. Any person in the world would assume that you wouldn't stack things on top of a fake plant. Well they also put fake plants into "speed Boxes" then tossed other heavy objects on top of them, ruining most of our fake plants. They did the same with our Christmas tree and our wreathes. So you know, we didn't sit idle while these things weee happening. We tried to address in the moment and were largely ignored by the movers. I tried to rectify the situation to avoid a negative review but I will never use their services again and wouldn't recommend them. I requested their services to move my stuff out of storage onto a moving truck from Uhaul so that I could move across states. I thought the actual movers had a good attitude and they worked with me even when U-haul had a delay in getting me the truck I rented from them. They moved the stuff quickly and I thought efficiently. Once it was time to pay, the price was over what was estimated and the invoice showed they charged extra time that they didn't actually work. Also there was something listed as a truck fee and they drove up in a truck that they didn't even need for my move as I had already reserved it through another company. I spoke with several people about this issues and they've been giving me the runaround. First they said they would have someone from "ground services" call me back and they didn't. When I finally did speak to him after calling them back, he apologized and said he would get right on a refund. Days later he called back and said the finance department said it had been two weeks (it wasn't even a week) and they couldn't refund the way he requested so he had to get my actual debit information over the phone. They were already provided that information but I gave it anyway and still haven't received my refund. They also over charged for "consumables". The charge was $77.00 and some change for only plastic wrapping and few things and 2 boxes. Retail at a minimum would have been $20.00 of what they actually used. They also added a ratchet tie that was rusted and used. And when I arrived to my destination, a lot of my furniture which was brand new and only had a year of use was all scratched up and damaged. I think they should have better accountability and I wish I did my research because the moving company does matter when it comes to protecting your things and your money. Also READ THE YELP REVIEWS! The movers were friendly and they showed up early. Those are the only positives. They underbid and went way over the estimated time, costing me an additional ~$400. The apartment I moved to is less than a mile away from the old one. At the time I thought it was due to the size and shape of some of my furniture, but in reading other reviews this is common practice for them. They told me shortly before they were done that they couldn't get one of my shelves up the stairs, so they just left it outside. After they left, I had to take it apart myself and carry it in. I hired movers so I didn't have to deal with this. My TV was crushed in the move, two of the three movers took photos and both of them said they would each file a claim for me. One of the movers even said she'd be the one to file the claim, because if were to file it myself they don't pay out what the item is worth. She assured me the person who handles their claims, Annissa, would make me whole. When I called the next day, turns out neither of them did, so the guy on the phone sent me the form. Had I trusted them I would have been out of luck as they have a time limit for filing these. I have been offered only $243 in compensation for the ruined TV and incomplete job. So they lied about filing the claim for me, admitted claims lowballs their customers, I had to finish the move myself (and was charged extra), I have to take extra time to dispose of the TV they destroyed, and I have to purchase a replacement at a loss. Annissa later attempted to explain that they are not allowed to file claims on behalf of the customer, and that this is stated in the contract. It's not, they don't even know the contents of their own documents. If this were my responsibility that would be fine had the movers not set false expectations. Their immediate response upon seeing they ruined my TV was to offer to file the claim for me. Two of the movers offered to do this for me. One of them even said she would file one as well in case the first guy forgot to. This feels like a lie to both get me to pay the extra amount they charged by underbidding without complaining, and to prevent me from filing a claim myself. As I'm organizing things I'm finding scrapes on my walls and furniture caused by the movers. Had they covered the cost of the TV I could live with the other inconveniences and the lying, but that's not even half what I paid for it. Moving sucks and is stressful enough as it is, but dealing with You Move Me has made the experience even worse. This company is a joke. Absolutely would NOT recommend You Move Me. I was required to leave a tip mid-job, which felt extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional. The move itself didn't even take that long, yet they kept the full amount of the tip without any adjustment or transparency once the job was complete. I was required to leave a 5 star review in order to complete payment for the job. I was also charged for the 30 min break they took to QuickTrip. I understand taking a break, but that time should be off the clock. When I called to get help, Christian from the operations team was completely unhelpful--refused to provide any additional information or escalate me to someone who could actually assist. Single women beware!! Worst movers ever! They said they would have plenty of boxes and moving pads and they didn't. They used a 150 year old quilt worth 10 grand to wrap something in and destroyed it. Stole over 15,000.00 worth of Christmas decorations when I got 700 miles away and called for two more guys to help out who acted like they were totally hung over and couldn't move. Took my furniture apart and left it in pieces!!! The head guy was picking locks at the storage facility and the manager came over on his day off after seeing this taking place remotely. I would not recommend this company. If you do your research they only get 2.3 stars and were only voted best in KC for 3 years. I did not do my research and h ad the worst experience. I hired them to do our house. They schedule a video call that you walk around the house and show them everything you want moved. They take pictures and offer other service such as wardrobe packing. With my experience it required 2 trucks and 5 laborers. I would say men but I ended up with one lead man and 4 boys. Thd lead man could not control the horse play of the boys and it was the first day on the job for one of and he wonder around letterly like he had no idea why he was there. would not recommend. We hired them to move our big furniture while we moved 100 boxes on our own. We broke one item during our move. They were very fast. We thought they did a good job in the beginning. At the end, they told us they broke a piano leg and put a hole in our drywall. We thought how nice they're being honest. When they left realized they broke a treadmill, desk, chip in another desk, ripped part of a mattress, hole in recliner, hole in cushion on chair, nicked headboard. When we called the company to complain, they said we signed when movers were leaving. You have to stay out of the movers way so we had no idea all the stuff broke. I would not recommend them. I will say the movers were very nice and fast. Perhaps too fast and should've slowed down. Their customer service was terrible. I had a very professional experience with You Move Me. This company was recommended to me by a friend. It turned out to be everything she said it would be. Movers moved me from a large home to an apartment. They were very careful with some very valuable items. . They were respectful and very hard-working. It's not easy to move to an apartment from a residential home. I was worried every minute and yet I didn't need to be. They checked with me to see where I wanted things and how I wanted them to be placed They covered every piece of furniture and the doorways leading out to the truck. We have moved several times due to work over the past 8yrs. I can say this was our worst move. I see this as a training issue. Cast iron skillets were packed around my KitchenAid mixer without any paper or packing. Items were packed like this and they were chipped, broken and ruined. We never had service like this when we used Northern and Allied. My husband and I are taking this to his employer so that no one else has to replace items like this. Please train your employees. WORTH THE READ: The crew was hours late in arriving-they said they had me scheduled between 4-6 when I had the email confirmation stating 2-4,. They did get my move completed in record time which was great, but then some pretty terrible things happened... ...turns out they stole medication, $76 in cash and a cell phone from me (which had been sitting in an area of the house they shouldn't have even been in) and then later sent inappropriate and lewd text messages to me, requesting nude photos in exchange for giving my cell phone back to me (see photos below). I went to the office the next day to speak with the person in charge who, at the time I met with him, seemed off-put by my visit. I then went to the police to make a report and press charges. I was contacted a couple days later by the same manager (with a GM in the background of the call) after a friend of mine posted the below photos to her Instagram. I was asked to tell my friend to remove her post. I was refunded the $700 and some odd dollars I had paid for the move, which was quite literally the very least they could have done, told that each of the four crew members had been suspended, and told to contact them should I need anything additional from them. Which I did do. After I had to fork over an additional $700 and some odd dollars to replace my prescriptions that now were not covered by my insurance because I had already filled them once that month. I have MS... the types of prescriptions I require get pretty pricey. The manager never reached back out. I'm now in a new city where I know very few people just living with the knowledge that these guys who not only know where I live but also know how to get in, are just a 30 minute drive away. DO. NOT. Needed to move in a bind so I appreciate the company fitting me in the next day of. However I wanted to pass on the feed back after receiving multiple emails regarding leaving a rating/review. The company team added another guy after already going over the # of estimated boxes and estimated time it was going to take over the phone with a very friendly employee. New to this, so not sure if that's the normal, but had to pay another 90$ extra an hour for the extra guy which was not talked about until the company was already 30 minutes late. Whenever the team got there I offered my greetings while they were getting set up which was either not heard or ignored. Either way, did not make me feel confident in the people I was about to let into my home. I will say the team was very fast and efficient getting my stuff out of the first stop. A few of the items I wanted on the truck were missing after walking through and pointing out what I wanted on there - I ended up loading them myself. With a comment, "Are you sureeeee you don't have anything else that needs to be loaded up?" Not sure how to take that, as this is there job, but I just moved on. Arrival to my new apartment the team met and figured out an entry way to the apartment with my roommate waiting for them so that worked out. I was very impressed with how the team quickly moved my stuff into the apartment from the parking lot without my guidance. After everything was loaded up - the team lead went over pricing with me and stated that because it took longer than expected + the extra guy it would be roughly 1,300$ after the estimate pricing was 750$. Well, understanding I have a lot of stuff, but I came from a one bedroom/ one bath apartment. He also then proceeded to tell me that during the moving process the stand on one of my TV's broke. I have used Kansas City You Move Me for THREE other moves previous to my last move. The first 3 moves were good. Though the pricing is high, it's been pretty much worth the cost. I was so so so disappointed on my fourth move. They helped finish with packing and of course loading the truck. It was a pod actually and for across country, which they knew. 75% of my items were broken. Plain and simple. Terrible and I was very sad to say the least. When I reached out for any kind of compensation back from cost of move, I was refused help. Broke my beautiful Japanese lamp and threw my boxes around(even when marked fragile) breaking a wall hanging. Took way longer than it should because a young man had no experience taking apart a simple ikea bed. Wanted to charge me over $1000 to move a 3 bedroom with no couch and two beds into another two bedroom apartment. They told me since they broke my lamp they'd Just charge me $1000(I was quoted $500-$800). I called around to so many moving companies before finding them! I had another company bail on me and need movers ASAP! This company had availability plus their rates were reasonable. I lobed that they had a moving portal where you can put in more information about your items, plus they either brought you water or coffee when they were on their way. On the day of the move I received a call saying they could come earlier which I was down for. I had a team of three move me to another location in KC. I literally did not have any issues. Nothing missing, nothing scratched, they took everything down wrapped it SUPER WELL , and built up the pieces in the new location. They did take longer than I thought for a simple 2 bedroom move, but I think that is just because they actually care to be gentle with your items. I would with no doubt use them again! We hired You Move Me to move a brand new LG refrigerator from our temporary housing we were living in because of a house fire, back to our home. They quoted a fair price and promised they could safely make the move. The 3 young men who arrived for the job were very friendly but we quickly saw they were not up for the job. They put tape directly on our appliance with no padding. Consequently, we had 3 places that were dented by the time it arrived at our home. I called immediately to let them know and they had me file a claim all the while apologizing for the problem. Today I received the claim approval for 199.80 against 900.00 damage. Their contract only holds them accountable for .60 per lb of the item they are moving. They don't really have to be careful because it's not going to cost them anything compared to damage done. I had an unsatisfactory experience with YOU MOVE ME. I was misquoted and I was told that it would be around $600 for the amount of furniture I had and the boxes. In the end it was $1300 that was told to me after a very long day of your guys moving my stuff. So essentially you all are undercutting everyone else who is a legit moving company. It took 2 guys 6.5 hours to wrap and move my belongings. They should have at least had a 3rd if not 4th person helping them. That was so not efficient. Your site states that your people are on-time but they got there 30 minutes after the time stated they'd be there as they wanted to stop for a coffee and breakfast (what they stated on the phone when they called me on their way). You all gave me a 2 hour window that they'd show up but I was their first stop. It's a joke, why would they be late? Your site also states 'blanket wrapped furniture protection'. There were a few of my pieces that were not wrapped. One of those pieces was a ceramic planter that shattered in the truck. Why wasn't that wrapped? There was a living room table base made of wood, 2 pieces. Not wrapped...it was damaged when they brought it off the truck. I have 2 large white lamp shades that they touched with their dirty hands and left prints. Again, 2 more pieces that should have been wrapped. I found yet another damaged piece. A framed 3'4" square piece of art, the glass is broken in several spots. It was tightly wrapped in bubble wrap by myself and clearly marked as 'glass'. I even pointed it out to the movers before they moved it. So...even wrapped pieces were damaged. Lastly, the driver was insisting I had to pay for their services even though I had several issues with the move. He then told me he'd call me later with the ops manager. When they did call, the ops manager was insisting on payment. I was shocked. A reputable company doesn't insist someone pay that night. I was in the middle of moving belongings from my car and he was being very insistent that I give him my card details even though I had several issues with how that move went. I will not recommend your service to anyone and matter of fact, I will be sharing this experience on all social channels. Our two-man team from You Move Me was awesome and helpful in every way. We moved back in February and they did a great job, always being diligent and offering to rearrange items that were placed. I was moving my belongings into an existing furnished home with my SO. A bit pricy for the services provided since we were just moving within the same city from one location to another, but the quality was good and booking process was very communicative and easy to use. They also bring coffee to your move day, which is a nice perk we appreciated. They also took items we were looking to throw away of our hands for no added fee - a HUGE bonus on our end as we don't own a truck and would have had to figure out the dumping situation in our area for large furniture items we no longer wanted/needed. THIEVES. I contracted for 2 movers with proper moving equipment. The truck showed up with three men and no wheels or dollies to move furniture. The smooth talking salesman/mover assured me everything would work out and that his vehicle broke down and he had no equipment with him. Long story short, The contract included for armoire moving boxes that they did not bring. In fact they brought no boxes. I had to go to Home Depot and buy wheels so they could move the furniture. They subsequently stole those wheels and returned them at a later date. They got lost and sat outside the wrong building for a half hour, despite numerous attempts to explain exactly where to meet. Three months ago I used this company which was great. They moved everything from my house to a storage while I was in transition. I then called today to get my things out of storage to my new place, remind you, THREE MONTHS, the new rate was an increase of 35%, three months later, same stuff, same 3 man crew, same distance driving, during a pandemic. I had a wonderful experience working with them and totally understand the high praise they get in the reviews. Bravo! My rating has nothing to do with physical moving process. When I was shopping around for a moving company, I reached out to 5-6 different movers. When getting the initial quote from You Move Me, the virtual estimate was easy and the person I worked with was knowledgeable. I was told that they would provide five movers on my moving day, which sounded good. Ultimately, I was going to go with a different moving company because the You Move Me price was a little higher than I was expecting, even though I enjoyed meeting with the You Move Me sales team the most. However, after sending over my quote from the other moving company to You Move Me they offered to give me a discount of 35% which got me just under the quote from the other moving company. I was a little worried that to get such a significant discount I would be losing the services I was initially quoted, which included having 5 movers on my moving day. To confirm, I had this verbatim conversation via text with the You Move Me salesperson: "How did you get the price so low? Did you have to cut any services?", to which he replied "No sir. Just gave you a 35% discount. Didn't want to lose you as a customer". I followed that with "Well, that's great news. I think Ill go with you guys if everything is the same as we had spoke about." Finally, he said "It is absolutely the same." The new discounted quote You Move Me sent over didn't specify the number of movers had changed, just the price with the new discount. I was pretty happy that I was getting my moving company of choice at an affordable price. Unfortunately, on my moving day I only had 4 people show up to help me move. This led to only 1/3 of the second moving truck being filled up with my stuff and therefore I had to ask the guys to make a second trip. Without the second trip I would not have been able to move the remaining bulky items that couldn't make it in the first trip. This extra trip cost me $1100 to which I was told I could reach out to their Claims Team about and explain what had happened. The Claims Team reached out and offered to refund me half of the $1100 for the extra trip "In the spirit of customer satisfaction", not because their communication had been misleading. I did not accept. They claim that "they acknowledge my desire for more movers, but their consistent rate of $95 per man, per hour remained unchanged between both estimates. While additional movers could have expedited the process, it would have proportionally raised the hourly rate." Additionally, they said "While our estimator may not have been entirely clear on the intricacies of adjusting your estimate to compete with the other moving company, the billing process remained consistent at $95 per hour, per man. Adding a fifth mover would have sped up the move but at a higher hourly rate, essentially maintaining your overall cost with just four movers. As outlined in your signed estimate and customer contract, we don't guarantee crew size or offer flat-rate pricing. Billing is based on time used, aligning with what you received." To sum everything up, if you use You Move Me and they offer you any kind of discount, their estimator "might not be entirely clear on the intricacies of adjusting your estimate" and any documentation you receive afterwards wont state what changed to get you that discount, but you should be able to calculate everything out yourself since their "billing process remains consistent". And, if you have a problem with that after you find out how they got your price so low, well too bad because "As outlined in your signed estimate and customer contract, we don't guarantee crew size or offer flat-rate pricing." read more

I had heard such good things about this company so I think some of our results were a little surprising to me after the rave reviews. We moved our house which included an upright piano. The communication was good leading up to our move. It was a very very hot day. Things started out fine, but as the day wore on i was a little surprised that some of the guys were constantly whining and complaining, even saying "I hate moving pianos" in earshot of us. Gee, so sorry we're paying over $2k (with tip) to listen to this. Moving is definitely hard and I understand, which is why I thought we were hiring professionals who could handle it. They were otherwise pretty professional and decent to us. It just bugged me having to pay someone and then listen to that. I had to pick up multiple things that had fallen out in the grass. Many boxes that were clearly labeled with directional arrows were tossed and turned and placed upside down in our new house. None of our outdoor furniture was wrapped like other furniture which left major scratches and damages. Another piece of indoor furniture arrived busted. It just wasn't the level of care I've read about. Luckily the piano was fine. They mentioned that the job seemed "underquoted" so perhaps they should have sent another person. We went over by 2 hours on time. Overall... it was just OK. They did work very hard and *most* of our items arrived safely, and were well-wrapped. I think it was just that final push to the end that maybe made them a little too careless. If asked, I don't know that I would recommend this company to a friend or family.
