However, I am a nurse and I made her appointment with Dr. Young. Dr.Young saw her and diagnosed her with a multitude of complex mental health illnesses. The problem: my daughter's care was transferred to a new graduate Nurse Practitioner without a mental health background. None. So basically, it was video visits for monthly medication reordering. Yes, they will not give you a prescription with refills. Only by seeing them monthly. 5 minute phone call. No further therapeutic intervention. Taking advantage of the vulnerable patient population group. Complex cases require monitoring, in office one on one counseling, and I strongly suggest urine tests to verify no illicit drug. Nothing of this way done. Nothing. Dr.Young you are FIRED!

I was referred to RCBM in 2022 for my son, who was 11 years old at the time. I want to emphasize…read morethat my son has never been seen by a psychiatrist--not even once. We have only ever met with a Physician Assistant (PA). While I respect the role of a PA, I believe that when prescribing powerful medications such as antipsychotics to a child, a psychiatrist should be directly involved and meet the patient at least once to oversee treatment decisions. To provide context: A psychiatrist completes approximately 12-14 years of education and training, whereas a PA typically completes 6-7 years including clinical experience. Psychiatrists are trained to diagnose, prescribe, and manage treatment comprehensively. PAs, while skilled, generally assist and have more limited prescribing authority. Given these differences, I expected a psychiatrist to be involved in my son's care, especially considering the complexity of his case. My son was diagnosed with ADHD, depression, and anxiety by RCBM. Over time, he was prescribed multiple medications, yet we saw little improvement. Eventually, a therapist from another organization suggested that my son might be autistic. When I raised this with the PA, he disagreed. I sought further evaluation from a neurologist, who confirmed that my son is autistic (high-functioning). This experience has left me questioning the accuracy of the initial diagnoses and the appropriateness of the treatment plan provided by the PA without psychiatrist oversight. I recently reached out to RCBM to ask if we can schedule an appointment with the doctor himself and here is the correspondence: "Dear Aleshia, After a thorough review of Blake's clinical information, our team has determined that, unfortunately, we are not able to meet his current level of care needs at this time. We believe he would benefit from a provider or facility that offers a higher level of support to best address his treatment goals." I responded: I'm truly surprised and confused by this situation. All I did was request that my son be seen by the doctor. Is the doctor not qualified to work with minors who have depression and anxiety? This is very concerning. For over two years, my son has been treated by a PA "under the doctor's supervision", yet now it seems the doctor himself does not know how to manage a child with these conditions. Does the doctor only prefer to work with patients who do not have mental health challenges? My son is not non-verbal, difficult, or a special case--he simply needs appropriate care. I find this situation deeply troubling. It appears that individuals who may not have been fully qualified to manage my child's mental health have repeatedly prescribed medication without ever informing me that my son might need a higher level of care. This lack of communication and oversight has caused significant distress for my son and our family. I am seriously questioning whether this constitutes negligence and whether legal action may be warranted. I will be looking into this and would hope that you guys are prepared to answer back on this because I WILL fight for my child and someone will answer to the hell that they have put my son and our family through.

Dr. Amann is exceptionally kind, patient and knowledgeable in her field. My patients never feel rushed and, unlike many other psychiatrists, she is not a "pill pusher" but actually listens to the patient; helping them identify coping skills. Each patient has an individualized plan, she is careful on which medication would be best and never fails to continually assess the effectiveness and make changes when warranted. Treatments were suggested for issues we did not have and things we were already doing were recommended, clearly this "test" was not helpful in any way. It was basically a sales pitch for treatments that I was not interested in. My daughter attended this meeting and was brought to tears because of what was said about her. It was not the right fit for my family and I caution anyone to really do some research before they decide where to look for help.

I called his 'answering service'- who said they'd give him my message and I should get a call back in the next day. It took a frusterated third call to the answering service before someone from the office called me back. I said I wanted to make an initial appt w him and I told her my plan, which after two days she called to say he didn't accept. Confused why my insurance co. would list him, I called UHC and learned my plan has a different name and isn't Medicaid as I'd thought. So I called the Dr.'s office back to ask if he accepts it - again straight to VM. So, yet again, I'm forced to call an answering service. I tell them to please let the Dr. know I have been trying to reach him and gave his receptionist the incorrect healthcare information. About an hour later (wow! now they're speedy)- I receive a call from his 'receptionist' (I put quotes Bc the VM sounds like his cell phone and this receptionist hasn't picked up a single phone call). She called me and was hostile and said "You called? I just spoke to you yesterday- you called the doctor and interrupted him during an appt and then the answering service, that's very rude" I said "I called the 'office' number and again, no answer, so I left the message with the answering service, as it's been almost two weeks just to get an appt" I explained the mix-up and I could just FEEL her roll her eyes and she says "*sigh*I don't know, I'll have to check on that and have HIM CALL YOU BACK" You cannot tell me which insurance he accepts?" Of course she could, but was lazy and rude Bc she probably got some heat from the Dr for never answering his calls. She was literally arguing with me over being 'allowed' to call his number. So I said "you know what, you're being so rude, I don't want to go there anyway" - she mumbled something before I hung up. I would suggest you NOT even attempt to make an appointment here u less you want to argue with a middle aged lady and leave voicemails in your spare time, all while going untreated.
