I had an appointment with Phil Carbone that he set up and confirmed with an email, but when I showed up (even 10 minutes early), he had already left for the day. I took time off work to check out the venue and discuss food/drinks for our company event - and not only wasn't Phil there, but the woman who was there (Gabrielle?) knew nothing about the food available, nothing about pricing and nothing about the what was included in the different catering levels that are listed in both their brochure and on their website. She said their alcohol policy had just changed and she "really had no clue what it was". She did, however, complain about how bad her day had been.

My wife and I used South Florida Events for our wedding, and the buffet style food was excellent,…read morehowever, we do not recommend the catering service for a wedding for a few reasons. When we initially met with the caterer 7 months before our wedding, we had told them that we estimated 130 guests, but it would probably be less. They told us that wouldn't be an issue and to let them know a month out a final guest count. However, a month out from our wedding, they were trying to charge us for a full 130 when we had told them that our guest count was 105 (including the bride & groom). Our wedding planner was able to convince them to charge us for only 115 people, so we ended up inviting another 4 guests since we were paying for the food. So we had 109 guests and were paying for 115. We couldn't believe it and were completely disappointed to later find out that some of the food ran out, specifically the mahi mahi entree, when we had paid for 6 more people than we ended up having in attendance. Those who did not get to eat mahi were given more of the appetizers to compensate. Per our contract we had understood that we paid for more than the amount of actual guests and we can't understand why a main entree had run out before two full tables had been served. The caterer was not only late to the venue for initial set up, but was also very late to serve the food, after it had been blessed and a thank you speech from the father of the bride, to let our guests eat. This lead to many of our guests questioning both my wife and myself when we would actually have dinner. The food was good, but due to the service, we would not recommend this company for your catering needs ever.

We had to scramble on the day of the event to borrow chairs from friends. When I raised the issue, the response was dismissive. After several emails, they admitted they had gone through their inventory but still offered nothing for the unusable chairs. When I requested a discount for a future event, I was told to inspect every chair myself at pick-up and that 'no discount would be given.' How can they completely dismiss me after I was willing to give them another chance? As a retired hospitality professional, in Palm Beach, I find this level of customer service unacceptable. I recommend choosing another rental company that values its customers and ensures proper quality inspections.
