I had a very close friend in England try to send flowers to me, as a get well/ thank you for being you/ keep smiling gift the beginning of this week. The arrangement was ordered from avasflowers.com (which is supposed to serve the Hickory area) come to find out they are an online broker and outsource to local florists. Ok, no big deal. Except, the arrangement was supposed to be warm reds, oranges and greens. What showed up was hot pink, dark purple, and light purple, most of which were some kind of daisy looking flower that weren't very pretty, or costly looking, and could have been picked in a field. Let me add that the arrangement called for roses and carnations. When my friend called, from England, he asked that the carnations be switched out but the color scheme be kept exactly the same. "She is hard to please" . Met with a "No problem at all". How is purple and pink anything like warm oranges, reds, and greens? I don't even know where to start with helping him figure this out. I told him to just forget it , I appreciated the thought, but this is the third local florist that has done sub par work. He can't exactly go in and pick out flowers for a pick me up when I'm ill. Good thing my teenage daughter likes pink and purple and daisies. Otherwise they would be in the trash.

If I could give this place negative stars, I would! Had an appointment to discuss wedding flowers…read more& I ended up walking out less than 10 minutes into the meeting. The first photo inspiration I showed the lady, she said what I wanted wasn't possible. I questioned her about it because I personally knew how to do it & other florists I'd spoken with had no issues, but she obviously didn't want to hear any of it. Moved on to discuss the bouquet & she stopped me & said "You can request whatever you want but what flowers my vendors send me is out of my control. I can't guarantee you'll get anything you want." Basically trying to say I can pay her to do my wedding flowers but it'll be a mystery & what I get is what I get so be happy. I was SHOCKED considering all the flowers I was asking for would be in-season at that time of year... At that point I ended the meeting, saying I appreciate her time but this obviously isn't going to be a good fit. As I'm walking out she tells me it doesn't matter which florist I end up choosing because she knows them all & who their vendors are & everyone is going to tell me the same thing she did, "just so you know". I've used many florists over the years for various events & I've NEVER been treated this way. If she didn't want to do the event, for whatever reason, she should have been honest & said so & not wasted my time. I ended up going with a florist out of Hickory who is more than excited to hear my ideas & help make my dream wedding a reality.

We were referred to this nursery by our landscaper. Luckily we only live 45 minutes from this…read morenursery. I wanted to plant a small Christmas tree and some small bush for our family cabin. The staff were very knowledgeable and patient as we looked through their wide selection before deciding on what we wanted. We finally decided on a Colorado Blue Spruce Tree and some Juniper. They even gave us the instructions on how to plant the trees as well as tips for future care. Their prices were not as pricey as other locations. We loved both selections and are excited to see the growth in the future. As time passes we'll come back to add some more trees and plants for our property. Thank you to all the staff who helped us.
