I am a rank beginner, and I got to kick and punch in my first class. Coach Dave is a great instructor. Gentle and firm. He taught me how to put a headlock on one of my classmates who towered over me (well, my classmate was nice enough to bend down a little, too!). He pushes me, and I sweat freely by the end of class, leaving cortisol behind and swimming in endorphins. He manages classes with students of significantly different experience and strength levels. I added Muay Thai classes to my weekly weight training, and the moves--foot work, elbow throws, and knee throws--add so much extra training of my other muscles. They challenge and improve my balance and core and have boosted my physical confidence like crazy. We also spar in class, which I never expected to like, but my classmates are thoughtful and engaged in trying to maintain good form and getting better with our moves - they have all been super helpful in observing my form and providing constructive observations as we spar. Little did I know, this would turn into a full-blown passion for boxing! Thanks to Ricky's coaching, I've since hung a bag in my garage and even added a mirror for shadowboxing. Let me tell you--there's fit, and then there's boxing fit. Boxing is one of the most challenging workouts I've ever experienced, and Ricky pushes you to your absolute limits. His expertise is undeniable; he knows exactly how to motivate you while enforcing discipline and proper technique. Every session leaves me exhausted but hungry for more. What sets Ricky apart is his ability to tailor training to your potential while giving you plenty to work on outside of sessions. Even on days I'm not training with him, I have drills and exercises to keep improving. If you want an absolute ass-kicking, want to be humbled, or just have a passing interest in boxing, Ricky is the coach for you. We needed an "After School" program to pick up our son, and keep him for a short window of time while my wife and I finish our work days during the week. Finding a place that works with kids with a variety of needs like Autism is daunting to say the least. Trusting anyone with your child is scary, but finding someone that will: Listen, care, learn their personality, and actually want to make a personal connection is PRICELESS. Everyone one at One Nation embodies these principals. As I said, our son never took a single class. We even purchased him a "Gee" or outfit in hopes he would participate in the Jui Jitsu classes after school. Not all of the students at Jui Jitsu Nation do the classes. The family (I do mean family) here are genuine people that establish respectful and caring boundaries. Everything you could ever hope for, and likely do not see at a conventional "Child Care" environment, is standard practice at One Nation Jui Jitsu like: Respect, Accountability, Compasion, and Leadership. I moved away from Tennessee to New Hampshire at the start of 2020. We worked around this by doing workouts on Facetime. He worked with the equipment I had; a set of dumbbells, a med ball and a few bands. Even with minimal equipment Aaron helped me win multiple tournaments this year including a state tournament.
