Don't waste your time on this nasty overpriced gym or the nasty workers in it. Went in and had tour bought membership and as soon as I left I realized they charged more then they said for the two memberships so I decided I wasn't gonna do it and called the bank and cancelled the charged a couple hours later. I called gym but and told them and said I was canceling. they send emails and call saying I owe 1000. I told them I never not one second used that gym why would I give them 1000? so they send email saying we will take 500. Read google reviews all kinds of people have same type problem. Atrocious, simply and irreversibly horrible. This story starts in 2020 (or '21) when Avalon bought out the MAC. They told the personal training companies they could continue until December, and then pulled the rug out from under them in Sept/Oct instead. When my trainer told me that they would be moving gyms, I went to the front desk and told them that i'd like to cancel my membership when my PT left. They gave me a hard time, but eventually I was allowed after a few days to cancel membership. Come to January following, and I get a bill for over $200, that auto drafts FIVE TIMES. I called them, and they said that since I was in a contract with them, (I was no longer, i'd cancelled my membership and my contact wasn't with them anyways) that I had to pay. I asked them to reverse the payment, they declined, so I had my bank reverse it. I called my bank, had them block Avalon on all my cards, and I reported them for fraud at my banker's insistence. So after all of this, I get a call back from the fraud department that Avalon was using a different business EIC to try and pull my funds, and that my bank had blocked them and were asking if I wanted to keep them blocked. I said yes, and filed a second complaint. Now today is 20NOV2023, and i'm getting emails, phone calls, and texts about Avalon and their services. I have multiple times unsubscribed from all of these things. I'm getting adds on my Instagram and Facebook despite blocking them, i'm getting mail despite sending back the little card that says "take me off your list". Do not do business with Avalon unless you dont have any respect for yourself, and dont care that your words and wishes can be disrespected constantly in every format both digital and analog. read more

The gym is decent for Murfreesboro, still no comparison for gyms in other areas. The only real complaint I have is the nasty smell in the men's locker room. I think it's because it's carpeted so they can't clean the stank out- they should've used something like tile flooring in there. Other than that it has stuff you won't get at golds. And the kid Care is for 2hrs each day which is fantastic so I never need to rush through my workout to pick up my kids on time. read more

I certainly appreciate your Covid 19 statement about your mask requirements during this time. Now if you will only actually implement them. Several employees yesterday afternoon not wearing masks at all and only about half of the patrons wearing mask while entering or exiting the building during that time. Seriously conflicted regarding this review. I am literally at this place 6 days a week and somewhat refuse to leave it. I enjoy the classes that are available to its members. My favorite class is the spin class with Jeremy. He instructs Wednesdays and Saturday's. Outstanding instructor and will help you, from beginner to advance. There equipment is ok. Not the most current, but not the most outdated. It's DEFINITELY not the most kept place I've worked out at either. I truly wish they would fix the MULTIPLE leaks in the roof. I 100% wish they would clean & upgrade the men's locker room/ Sauna. Ironically, the sauna is the only reason why I will not move my membership. However, it's the most outdated and never cleaned sauna, I've ever been in. Definitely time for newness. P L E A S E. We pay enough. Besides that, staff is nice and always helpful. read more

Decent gym. To be fair, I'm not a huge fan of gyms. I usually just go for the classes. There is one class there that is amazing - Cardio Blast! If you want to sweat, tone, and lose some weight, this class is the class to go to. It's pretty much the only class I got to regularly. I do like the spin classes and Zumba class on Saturday mornings. Gyms are just so expensive, but the MAC is a decent gym to join. read more

Today was my very first night at my "New" gym and I was not impressed with the customer service. I spent 3 months searching for the perfect place and after a friend convinced me to go I signed up online. I went to the counter today first time there and 3 people were working behind the counter. I walked up and said I just signed up online and not sure what to do. The guy gave me my swipe card and pretty much sent me on my way. None of the 3 individuals behind the counter offered to show me around. This gym isn't a small gym there are a ton of features and I had no clue. Keep in mind I was going to the 630 Zumba class. So I walked around to a room I thought was for the class. Two ladies came Up and told me where Zumba was supposed to be. We all waited and realized we didn't think there was a class cause the instructor wasn't there. So we go to counter again to the same 3 people. The response was yeah they think there is class the sub is running late. Thankfully the subs that taught the class changed my day and I enjoyed the class. I hope someone reads this from Mac as there was no email to reach out online. Please tell your employees that they only have one time to make a first impression. If I was someone who was easily intimated I would have left and cancelled my contract. Hoping it turns around! read more

I came here as a guest a few times and then recently signed up for the free trial week. I liked their big cardio theatre and the place seemed pretty new and clean. When I came as a guest, they stayed open way later during the week, but I realized when I came in to sign up for the trial week that they're only open till 10pm now. This surprised me since their competitors (Gold's and Olympus) BOTH stay open 24 hours during the week. And MAC isn't cheaper than the others.. So what gives? Also, the girl who let me sign up for the free week actually wasn't aware they were offering this deal on their website- even though she was the assistant manager(?) After coming to the Mac for almost 10 months for a specific trainer's group class, the gym is forcing everyone to join directly with the club - adding additional costs to the already $135 I'm paying for a three day a week group class per month. The women at the front desk posed this situation in a rude manner today and gave me very little time to make a decision, their handling of the situation has made my decision not to join and to leave my training class. The gym itself is not bad - Their treadmills in the front cardio area need maintenance is a bad way, only about half of them work. Relatively nice facility, but this change in policy unfortunately will drive me elsewhere. There are equally nice gyms in town with nice staff at more affordable prices where the equipment all works. I can't see a reason to commit at a place I'm not overly satisfied with. read more

I don't have a membership here, but I love that they offer 4, free, guest passes per year for members. Also, I LOVE their HUGE cardio theater! I actually enjoy the atmosphere at MAC more-so than my gym (Golds.) The only downside is that MAC doesn't offer the same student discount as Golds. :( read more

Terrible communication. I went in earlier this year to cancel but was told I had to wait until my contract was up in October, which is fine. So I waited until now, and when I went in to cancel, and everything went well. I get a call 30 minutes later with someone telling me I couldn't cancel because I was in a two year contract. I didn't sign up for a two year contract, and I was told by an employee not two months ago that they were letting people cancel regardless of their contract because they were bought by someone else. Now, another employee is telling me different. Everybody is telling me conflicting stories, and I won't be back. read more

Well, I guess they didn't like my first review....Trainers of one specific company still eating while training clients ..ON THE FLOOR!! The AC is finally back on which is great, but the music selection had been bad. I have no issues with curse words...but songs with the b!+$# word... unacceptable at the gym where others may feel uncomfortable with that sort of language. In my day we kept that talk at home. I'll just keep posting, maybe leadership will get better. It's the people that keep me here....but not sure how long that will work now. read more

If you are looking to shape up, and improve your health, get it done. The group fitness classes keep you motivated and make sure you push yourself. There's something for everyone. Facilities include raquet and basketball, and a cardio theater where you can watch movies. :) I recommend Sportszone class. We do High Intensity Interval Training, which burns fat. The trainer helps sculpt your body, makes you feel better by losing the bad and gaining the good. I come to a lot of the classes- Cardio Blast with Krista has changed my life (dropped 30lbs in 6 mths), TBW with Sonia and Krista early mornings and Zumba with Tekeila on Saturdays. The MAC is the place to get your workout on in Murfreesboro. The place is huge, so you never feel like you're too close to anyone else. It's clean, well lit and has easy access from Memorial Blvd and plenty of parking. Group fitness classes are offered from early morning to late afternoon to accommodate anyone's schedule and the app keeps you up to date on any cancellations or subs. read more

This gym is okay. The treadmills are in desperate need of an upgrade and finding two treadmills next to each other that work can be a challenge. The cycling and Body Pump classes are really good and have great teachers who know what they are doing. Overall an okay gym but has a lot of room for improvement. read more

I used this gym for a couple days while I was in town for a training. The facilities were clean and very well kept. The gym featured lots of state of the art equipment, including TRX, a cardio theater, and one of those vibrating pads that you stand on and it massages your entire body (if you never tried it, definitely do). I went around typical peak times (5-8pm) every day, and it was never too busy and I never waited for equipment. That's also in part because the gym was well stocked with multiples of almost everything. Dumbbells available in 2.5lb increments which is a huge deal for someone constantly seeking progressive overload. While all these items made my experience at this gym pleasant, it was the attitude of the staff that really put the icing on the cake. They were extremely kind, accommodating, and pleasant to be around. The same goes for the other members of this club. Overall if I ever found myself in Murfreesboro on a more permanent basis, this would be my go-to gym. read more

Make sure you give a 30 day notice when you cancel or you will pay I canceled in late February, however...... because I didn't cancel in early February I was charged for all of March. Basically I was forced into a 40 day notice. When I cancel in February........it means I don't need a membership for March. Why do you need 30 days, I think I know, because they get the extra $75 out of you for nothing Read the small print......it's small because it's designed to get the last drop out of you and punish you for not being loyal to something or someone you don't want anymore. Called about an account that was supposed to be cancelled months ago but was not and before I even said anything in a what I would assume to be a manager by the name of Cindy answered the phone with attitude and a very unwilling to help and was threatened to be sent to collections when they could obviously see in my account that I haven't been there in at least 6 months because I have moved to a different city but I was told I have to bring proof of when I moved So Not only was I greeted by a hateful employee but now I have to drive an hour to fix something which shouldn't have even been a problem horrible customer service from the beginning I would not recommend purchasing a membership to the gym here! read more

Good gym. Everything is clean and well maintained. My biggest complaint is when they started the crossfit class, they locked up all the equipment in the functional fitness area with no notification to members. Now you can only use it if you are in the class or with a trainer. They said they were replacing that equipment but it tuned out to be nothing even close to what they locked up. read more

I love this Gym! I have been a member of Golds and Olympus and the MAC beats them all. Great staff, clean, and BIG! When I was at Golds gym it gets wayyy to crowded between 3-8pm, so you can't really get a workout in. At The MAC, even when the parking lot is packed, you can get a great workout since it is double to square footage of Golds and Olympus. read more

I give 5 stars to my instructor Chelsea and a solid 4.5 to the establishment...Chelsea is the perfect teacher for me and my used-to-be-very-leery boyfriend. She made it soooo fun and is extremely positive. At the beginning of the process they stated that we would be "stuck" with our assigned instructor...THANK GOODNESS!!!!! We left our first lesson absolutely hooked. She is kind, open, and innately inviting!! If they tried to put us with any other we would throw a royal fit at the cost of making a scene hahaha.... We don't have a lot of money or time for that matter but we feel so fortunate for such an opportunity to learn these fantastic things from a down to earth person. I was gifted lessons from my boyfriend at Christmas and we both love it! I hope she knows how much it means for us to have her as an instructor!!! Seriously love this new world and teachings!! At this gym I only play racquetball. I join through my health insurance provider which is great that this is available at this location. I travel for work often so using my heath insurance allows me to go to gyms on the road to play racquetball as well. The rest of the gym is quite nice I am just not into the gym type of workout. Several of my friends workout here as well. There are quite a few racquetball players here at this gym for pickup games on Mon. and Wed. evenings. They have two courts that are kept clean and lit up. Both courts have glass back walls that allow spectators to see the game as well. read more

This place is the worst run facility in all of Murfreesboro. They show blatant disregard for cleanliness of their facility (always the trash cans are heaping full of trash and the paper towels are never full in the bathrooms)....cars are broken into as well as lockers....equipment is tired and the class schedule is lackluster. Customer service is also not on the top of their list...unless of course they are desiring you buy a membership. It had been a great facility in 2008, but has declined rapidly with the addition of many newer, cheaper gyms in the area. Spend your money wisely elsewhere. read more
