We were referred to Stereo Types after being told by the original Crestron and Lutron system…read moreinstaller that all the systems had to be replaced because they were too old to service and support. Wow, what a difference-- We had Roman from Stereo Types come out to give us his take. He didn't throw the other guys under the bus, in fact was complimentary of the work they had done. What he did do, however, was explain that while what they told us wasn't necessarily a lie, we did have options that wouldn't involve a 6-figure system replacement. He explained to us that there were a couple of options that allowed us to retain various parts of the system and set expectations on the anticipated life of anything that would not be replaced. This allowed us to make the decision that was right for us and how we live, especially since we are only here a few times a year. As it turned out, we ended up spending more than we expected going into this, but far less than we'd been told it would take to the same Crestron Home app for our phones, same Sony TVs, and same Crestron remote controls. As for the Lutron Lights and Shades system, the other company told us we had to upgrade the Lutron brain to make it work with the new Crestron, and also upgrade a bunch of the lighting equipment to work with the replacement LED lights we installed. Roman was able to make it work without any changes to the Lutron hardware by adjusting the programming so the LED lights stopped flickering and by using Apple Home Kit, we now have Siri Voice control of everything (which was not something the other guys were giving us). The bottom line, Stereo Types delivered a system that gave us more functionality than was proposed by others for about $40,000 less. Oh, almost forgot, the Service Agreement we decided to go with... I admit, it's expensive as crap, or so I thought until having to use their support team a few times in the past 6 months. They can remotely reboot things, which will usually solve an issue, but if not, our service plan includes Zoom Video Call support. This Zoom thing... it works. We had a music system issue during a charity fundraiser event-- I guess the kids got a bit crazy with the volume and the system stopped working. The girl on the Zoom knew exactly where to tell me to look in the AV rack and had me pull the power cord of a box, plug it back in-- 2 minutes later, the music was back. Anyway, we highly recommend these guys.

My garage door tension spring snapped this morning, and I called them to have someone come out…read morewhich they did in a timely manner. But once the technician was there, I expressed that I didn't know much about garage doors and I wasn't trying to come off as a jerk, but I wanted to know why the ballpark range for my quote was $195-$495 for the springs and $375 just for labor. He stated it's based off the door size, I said while you're here just measure the door and can you give me a better ballpark estimate on the quote on what it would cost to have repaired he said well it's based off the spring. I'm gonna take the spring off and look and give you a better quote. I said oh perfect thank you he took off the spring and did some things and then told me that it would be $459 per spring and that I should change out the drums on both sides which were $225 apiece and with the labor again $375 parts everything out the door would be about $1700. I said OK I will have to talk to my wife about it and see what we wanna do nothing's gonna get done tonight. Are you available to come out tomorrow if you decide to use your company? He goes who I thought I was doing it tonight. I replied with that's not what I said. I said I would like a ballpark quote so I can weigh out my options which he replied with why I brought everything in. I did all the stuff under the impression I'm doing it tonight. I said no I need to talk to my wife and we had our options and if anything is going to be done, it's gonna be tomorrow. Which he tried to pressure me into making a decision tonight telling me well can you call your wife right now and said no she works healthcare and at the hospital with poor reception he was well I'm gonna leave my stuff here. I have a job down the road. Try to get a hold of your wife. I'll be back at 6 o'clock. I said OK then came inside my house to tell me that you know he thought the job was says and he was doing everything tonight in this net. I said no I'm sorry for the misconception but I didn't agree to anything being done tonight. I wanted to know how much was gonna cost me before I made a decision again try to pressure me and I said OK. Well, if my wife gets a hold of me and I am able to talk to her, I will tell you at 6 o'clock. He left and left all his stuff in my garage so I decided to look up the parts by using the VIN number the part number size everything available with the parts he recommended for me so the $450 tension springs that he wanted to charge me a piece for I found using the VIN number on the part for $175 for a pair, the drums that he wanted to replace for $250 apiece I found at Home Depot using the VIN number for 17.95 apiece. I understand it's a business and they need to make money and pay their employees so their employees can have food and a roof over their head, but I do not appreciate being taking advantage of and charged well over five times the price and then when I confronted him when he got back and told him that he could take his stuff and leave, but I do not appreciate being lied to and taken an advantage of he wanted to tell me that it wasn't him. It's the business and that's how they do things and they have to charge for labor this and then I said well you're already charging me $375 for labor that doesn't explain why you're charging 100 times the price for parts and then I showed him what I found using the VIN numbers off the parts and he tried to tell me that the Vin number on his drum was not the exact same drum ( mind you he wanted $250 per drum was not the same drum I found at homedepot using the same vin number for $17.95) I then said you were going to look me dead in the face and tell me that these are not the same thing while holding up his part with my phone with the Home Depot photo and description and price of the same exact part. Again, nothing against the technician he was only doing his job, but this company is taking advantage of people charging way more than they should and not being completely honest, just to follow up with that after confronting him with all my facts and what I found and asking why they were charging so much he again said it's not me. It's the company and I do have other parts that are cheaper. I said you never once told me that I had options you brought in the parts and told me this is what I need and what I should do and gave me the price for those never once telling me that there was cheaper options. I highly recommend not even wasting your time with this company unless you do not care about getting ripped off and wasting way more money than you need to I already called another company and they are charging me $500 for the exact same thing. This company wanted to charge me $1700 for please do your research fact, check before agreeing to hire this company.

Original owner did not tell me he had sold the business when I made my purchase and new owners did not treat me with any integrity. They do not understand the meaning of good customer service, follow-thru on installations, nor return phone calls. I paid $20K for a complete home theatre system in my home and upgraded Wi-Fi including wiring. To date, I have non-functional speakers in my MBR and LR, and my Sonos wireless system needs to be rebooted every week or two. They also insist that they did not sell me enough Ports to support the speakers that I have installed, and I need to purchase another one. They wanted to charge me higher than manufacturer's suggested retail price for the product after the initial sale. DO YOURSELVES A FAVOR AND GO ANYWHERE ELSE FOR THIS KIND OF SERVICE. THESE GUYS WILL LEAVE YOU HIGH AND DRY AND DON'T CARE ABOUT THE CUSTOMER!!!

I visit my parents often and they had specialty electronics do some custom work for their second living room (or whatever it's called) and for the pool area tv/sound system. I don't know what to say except that it came out awesome! I've never seen a tv that hides into the furniture and just rolls up out of nowhere! And it's a 65 in TV!!! The sound system is amazing with none of the wires being visible, you barely notice the speakers are even there until you turn up the volume. I can't wait to get my own home so I can call specialty electronics to do some work on my future man cave! I would suggest this company for anybody looking for some really great, high quality work. They can really surprise you with the solutions and ideas they come up with!
