If you regularly dine at Jamaican restaurants then you already know the customer interaction is very lackluster. So there are only a few patties on display and I ask what they were since they were not labeled and the man behind the counter was very short with me and said they had everything. Silly of me to assume everything was available if there were only 4 patties on display and nothing was labeled. I ended up getting the Jerk Chicken and Spicy Oxtail and it was underwhelming. The crusts were more dough-y than flakey, the texture of the filling was mushy, and the flavor was lacking. Maybe it was an off night but I don't care to give them another chance. Please note the prices posted can change at any time because for the 2 patties I paid almost $18.

Will not be returning on account of the worst customer service I have ever received. There was one man working when I arrived and ordered a few patties. He informed me that some that I wanted were not in stock but could be replaced with a similar type. He did not share that they were over double the price. When I realized the increase I changed my order, only to then be met with another final price that was 50% higher than expected. After asking about the price, he said that the prices on the menu prominently displayed next to the food were not the actual prices. I stated that it was unfair for him to have charged me a premium without first informing me that prices had changed. He pointed to a sign that says "Prices are subject to change." I said that I understood, but he still must inform customers that prices have actually changed and what they have changed to. He refused to honor his own prices that were posted on his own signs in his own store and told me that he didn't appreciate my aggression. After paying the unexpectedly high amount, he covered up one of his signs with the prices and rudely stated, "I'll cover this sign up and hopefully that will get you to calm down." I've never had a store owner be so insulting and try to take advantage in that way. Patties were fine.

I usually stop here for a quick bite and it's always been a good experience. Today I had an issue with a juice I bought from the store. I purchased a sorrel juice and 2 chicken patties. I left the store and literally went 5 mins to the hair salon up the street. As I sat having my hair blown out, I took the juice out and went to open it when I noticed it was already almost open. I set it aside because I don't feel comfortable ingesting something where the security seal has been broken. After having my hair blown out, I told the stylist to hold on I was going to return the juice. I went back to the store with the juice and asked if I could exchange it. The lady there said I could not because I left the store with it already. I also would not be able to get my money back because of the same store policy. I asked to see a manager and she stated "I am the manager." Needless to say I am very frustrated and disappointed with YUPP. As I told the cashier, I am not looking for my money back. I actually want the juice. I just wanted to exchange for a properly sealed one. Especially since I paid for the drink. She absolutely refused citing "company policy". I think this is wrong! I wasn't trying to return half eaten patties, just a product that was supposed to be sealed and wasn't. If I bought at WF or Trader Joe's they would take back no questions asked, even a day later, and give me my money back. At YUPP I usually have a pleasant enough experience but today I am highly annoyed. I really don't think exchanging the drink should have been an issue. That's my opinion.

I was in the area and wanted to try this spot for lunch. I love patties and couldn't wait to try. When I arrived I parked on the street nearby. I walked in to a cool decorated place. I seen all their patties were stamped with their logo and they even had minis. I decided to get the vegan curry patty and that consisted of curry mashed chickpea. I also got the coco bread. In total it came to a little over $6. I paid with my card and left. When I got to the car I dug and and it was tasty. I really liked the coco bread. I can't wait to return for the oxtal patties.

I ordered the sweet chili salmon meal with white rice, cabbage, and sweet plantains, along with a small oxtail meal with rice & peas, sweet plantains, and steamed cabbage. Top tier! The food is an absolute must-try. The portions are generous, especially considering the price of the meals--you definitely won't leave disappointed! The service was also excellent. Everyone was straight to the point, patient, and polite. We were able to watch the amazing staff prepare and serve our food, and they were happy to accommodate us if we wanted to add extra gravy or any additional items. The beef patty was delicious and fresh as well. Huge thank you to the amazing, hardworking staff! The restaurant is spacious with a few indoor seating options, making it a comfortable spot to enjoy your meal. Authentic flavors, generous portions, fresh food, and great service. Definitely worth trying! But be prepared to spend money

This place was exactly what you hope for when you're looking for amazing food at an unexpected hour. The food was absolutely delicious: fresh, flavorful, and cooked with so much love. We had the oxtail, jerk chicken, peas and rice, and cabbage. Unfortunately, they were out of macaroni and cheese, but everything else was so good that it didn't even matter. The prices are fair for the portions and the convenience of having a 24-hour Jamaican spot available when you need it. That alone is a huge plus. The staff were friendly and welcoming and took our order with a smile!! The area is a little rough around the edges, but we felt fine grabbing our food and heading out. They offer takeout, which makes it even more convenient. I'll definitely be returning again and again. Great food, great flavors, and a true gem when you need a delicious meal at any hour.

Don't let the ambiance fool you…read more Macaroni Au Gratin is bland with consistency of imitation cheese whiz? I can't put my finger on it but it didn't have a flavor of ANY blend of natural cheeses. I'd know, I'm a cheese connoisseur! Perhaps they use imitation cheese. Simply put, their macaroni au gratin is inauthentic as in no veggies (onions, bell peppers) nor ham or ground beef used either. At least the Diri Djon Djon and Lalo was decent. I've had better Salad Russe. It was either missing onions or salt. The condiment cup of Pikliz is shorter and smaller than the usual 1.5 oz. Most restaurants provide sizes 2 oz and larger and that's how I was able to tell the difference. I never even knew those solo dipping cups came any smaller! Probably so you can ask for more so they can charge extra. Not only do they make sure to cut corners on the Pikliz. Which wasn't even enough to mask their thick, brown, over-fried, DRY and STALE bannann peze that has been sitting out. After they cut the plantains they don't soak in salted water. Bannann peze SHOULD NOT be so thick, should be made-to-order and served hot, fresh, golden and crispy. Just look at their photos and see for yourselves compared to other bannann peze / tostones you've eaten / seen. Then to ask if I need utensils for a to-go order? No ma'am, I'll be using my fingers and eating out of my hands today, thanks for asking. Don't ask, just automatically include utensils in the bag for the astronomic amount you charge for your food. Chain restaurants or even mom & pops all simply include utensils and napkins when preparing to-go orders. Only time to get away with that is when delivering. At which most times customer may decline since they're home / work and may already have those items. Price point - garbage for side of macaroni au gratin I'll let you all be surprised for yourselves on the rest on menu. * If anyone gave this restaurant 5 stars... they're obviously not Haitian and/or their tastebuds are shot.

Ou La Restaurant & Bar is the kind of place you want to see succeed. From the moment we walked in,…read morethe service was warm, professional and genuinely attentive. Our entire party wasn't there yet, but we were seated anyway, which I really appreciated. The staff checked in on us consistently without being overbearing, and while we waited for the rest of our party, we were asked if we wanted a drink. That small gesture stood out to me because a lot of restaurants will make you wait until everyone arrives before they even offer you anything. Here, they made us feel welcomed right away. Now, the food. We ordered the steak and eggs, island oxtail burrito, island burger with egg, and I decided to make my own combination. I ordered the Ou La wings and asked if I could get a side of diri jon jon (Haitian black mushroom rice). They were happy to accommodate the request, and everyone enjoyed their meals. One thing that really impressed me was how quickly an issue with the steak was handled. The steak had been ordered medium well, but came out well done. It was mentioned, and once it was brought to the chef's attention, the chef came back just a couple of minutes later with the steak prepared the way it was originally requested. A big deal wasn't made about it, so the fact that he took the initiative to correct it so quickly said a lot to me about how seriously they take their customers and food. And then there was the kremas! I noticed that they had a cocktail called Café Kremas, which is essentially an espresso version of a traditional kremas. It sounded interesting, but I really wanted to try the kremas by itself. I asked, and they were more than happy to accommodate me. Again, that willingness to listen and make the customer happy really stood out. The ambiance is beautiful. Everything feels thoughtfully designed, from the aesthetics to the layout. There's a separate bar area, and you can actually see the chefs working and preparing the food, which adds to the experience. Ou La is doing something special. The food was good, the atmosphere is beautiful, but what really stood out to me was the service. The staff was pleasant, attentive, professional, and clearly focused on making sure the customers were taken care of. If you're thinking about eating at this restaurant, I'm telling you to do it. Support this business and tip well. We need more restaurants that understand great food is only part of the experience. Customer service is important, and Ou La gets that. There is metered parking directly in front of the restaurant. If those spots are full, there's additional parking in the lot behind the restaurant near the church. I would also suggest making a reservation, especially if you're planning to go during a busy brunch or dinner service.

I really wanted to like this place, and I did, for some aspects…read more The food was delicious. The flavors were all incredible, from appetizer to dessert. We had the short rib empanadas, which were crispy and fully of meat. They were definitely the highlight of the night! The rasta pasta was good, but it came out warm and with few shrimp. The flavors were still excellent, however. The carrot cake for dessert was moist and not too sweet, which I prefer! The space was also super clean and well maintained. What really disappointed me was the service. We had a reservation, but had to wait to be seated even with plenty of open tables. That's normally not a big deal for us, but we had an event to get to tonight, so we were in more of a rush. Someone came to us to ask what water we wanted after 10 minutes of being sat, after which the hostess came back over to us to apologize that our server hasn't come over yet and asked if we would like water. Much more time passes and someone (still not our server) comes to ask us if everything is alright. We explain that no one has taken our order, which she apologized for and took our order for us. She then had to come back over because she forgot to include what protein we picked for our pasta. Finally, our server came over to us. We explained that we had already ordered. More hiccups continued throughout the night, including a long wait for the check, never being brought a dessert menu after asking, etc. I'm not one to complain about service, I just think they could be more efficient. At the time we arrived, there were only a few other tables seated in our area. It wasn't super busy, and there were a lot of people working. We overheard staff whispering about who was supposed to be taking care of us, and it still took time for someone to come over and help us. I think the staff knew we overheard or were disappointed in the service, because our dessert was free, and we received a bread basket as well. I'd love to give them another chance, just maybe not if I have plans after.
