    Jerk Chicken

Food good for the soul. Great portions, what I got was a small. Customer service was polite and respectful definitely coming back.

PT Just Jerk is an absolute gem--a true portal into a Jamaican oasis. The moment you step in, you're welcomed by warm, friendly staff who make you feel like family. The space is clean, spacious, and filled with good vibes that instantly put you at ease. A friend recommended this spot to me, and I'm so glad they did. I stopped by for the first time yesterday and was so blown away by the flavors, I came back today for another plate! I had the jerk chicken with rice and peas, cabbage, and sweet plantains--everything was seasoned to perfection and full of authentic Jamaican flavor. The chicken was juicy with just the right kick, the sides were comforting, and the plantains were the perfect sweet touch. Between the incredible food, welcoming atmosphere, and amazing staff, PT Just Jerk has officially become a new favorite. Highly recommend!

Saw some good reviews of this place and wanted to check it out. It's off a main busy road so was glad it had available parking lot. Colorful outside and inside reminded me of a bus stop diner. There's some table seating but also counter seats. Small place so more of a takeout spot. I ordered the small jerk chicken meal that came with rice and peas and cabbage. I ate it when I got home. The chicken was nicely flavored. Rice was good but didn't have any peas and there wasn't much cabbage. It was okay in my opinion.

I was recently in Jamaica so comparing to that experience. Note that I only ate jerk chicken in my hotel, which I'm assuming is average (or even below average) compared to the good spots there. How did this compare? Well it was okay. It's not spicy at all, although still flavorful. The chicken is cooked well (its juicy), although its not cooked to order, so doesn't have that fresh grilled taste. Pricing is very reasonable though, hence the 4 stars. Parking is easy, as they have a lot. Note: prices on grubhub (via yelp) are a few dollars higher than the menu prices, so I recommend calling in your order.

The service was amazing upon stepping into the establishment. The owner greeted us immediately. She offered samples and suggestions. Between the six of us we got the curry chicken, curry goat, jerk chicken and oxtail. We also sampled the Bulla it was delicious Jamaican dessert. We came all the way from Delaware and well definitely be back!!! I didn't catch the owners name, but the experience won't be forgotten!!! Thank you so much for your hospitality being all the way from New Orleans and living up north now this has place has definitely made me feel like I was eating one of my grandmas meal a must try!!!

Found this gem of a spot in Irvington, NJ. The best service I have ever experienced. They all made us feel like family. They started off with a tasting menu of oxtail, Jamaican jerk pork, and Jamaican jerk chicken which was all absolutely delicious. We all decided to go with oxtail. Literally all the food fell off the bone and it was obvious that the food was cooked with love. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. GOOD MUSIC TOO. Prices are very affordable and they take card!

This place was amazing. I brought my resident friends down here as it's close to the hospital, and we all got the oxtail. It was fall off the bone cooked to perfection goodness ! The owner was also very sweet and gave us a taste test of their jerk chicken and jerk pork, also yummy!! Definitely will be back !

Please come visit this place if not for the food then for the lovely people who work here. We were welcomed so warmly and the owner offered us a taste test since it was our first time visiting. "Taste test" was quite generous as she gave us so much meat to try! We were almost full before we even ordered! Great hospitality and you can tell the family is so passionate about Jamaican food and culture. Lovely authentic family-run business. We ordered a large jerk chicken, small oxtail, and a side of Rasta pasta. All of that cost around $40. The jerk chicken has a wonderful Smokey flavor and you can see the grill they use in the restaurant. The oxtail was super flavorful as well. Both entrees came with plentiful sides: plantains, cabbage, and beans and rice. The pasta was great too! We had plenty of leftovers to enjoy for dinner. I'm looking forward to my next visit. Also a bonus they have parking in the rear.

My friends and I wanted to get Caribbean food and tried this spot. When we arrived I parked on the street in front. We walked in and was greeted. I ordered the stew chicken with rice and peas and cabbage. It was ready in about 15 minutes. When we got back we ate and the food was really good. I enjoyed the flavor of the chicken and the rice and peas was good as well. My friends enjoyed their meals as well. I will definitely return to this establishment.

Went on a Sunday around 12pm. The inside was nice. Has indoor seating if you choose to eat in and the staff was very friendly. I ordered a large oxtails with two sides (rice and beans, cabbage) and a large Jerk chicken with two sides(same as above). Each platter comes with two sides and plantains. So, the oxtails and chicken were both dry. They tasted as if they were reheated from the day before as opposed to being freshly made the day of. Additionally, the rice with the jerk chicken platter did not come with sauce poured over it and as such was dry and lacked flavor. (I would recommend asking for jerk sauce poured over the rice and chicken). The plantains and cabbage were good. Overall, I was a little disappointed at the meat and rice. I will go again but probably at a different time of day when the food is likely to be fresh.

Customer service is terrible. don't bother calling ahead because you'll be waiting. Jerk chicken isn't great, it's more like baked chicken.

The Jerk chicken was really good but not phenomenal. It was well seasoned but missing the char from an actual jerk grill. The sauce was sweeter then most sweet jerk sauces in NJ and closer to the NY version of sweet jerk sauce. Which I personally don't mind. The veggies were good not too soggy or limp which is usually an issue that occurs in a jamaican spot. These veggies were very flavorful, they added curry which was simple but delicious addition to boost flavor. I really appreciated the thought. Plantains were slamming and hardo bread was fresh. Hubby ordered curry goat and said it was good. Not sure if good was just good or great good because he devoured it so quickly, I didn't get to taste it. I will definitely be back in for more jerk and those curry veggies. Service was nice too. Friendly people.

This place was exactly what you hope for when you're looking for amazing food at an unexpected hour. The food was absolutely delicious: fresh, flavorful, and cooked with so much love. We had the oxtail, jerk chicken, peas and rice, and cabbage. Unfortunately, they were out of macaroni and cheese, but everything else was so good that it didn't even matter. The prices are fair for the portions and the convenience of having a 24-hour Jamaican spot available when you need it. That alone is a huge plus. The staff were friendly and welcoming and took our order with a smile!! The area is a little rough around the edges, but we felt fine grabbing our food and heading out. Don't let the ambiance fool you…read more Macaroni Au Gratin is bland with consistency of imitation cheese whiz? I can't put my finger on it but it didn't have a flavor of ANY blend of natural cheeses. I'd know, I'm a cheese connoisseur! Perhaps they use imitation cheese. Simply put, their macaroni au gratin is inauthentic as in no veggies (onions, bell peppers) nor ham or ground beef used either. At least the Diri Djon Djon and Lalo was decent. I've had better Salad Russe. It was either missing onions or salt. The condiment cup of Pikliz is shorter and smaller than the usual 1.5 oz. Most restaurants provide sizes 2 oz and larger and that's how I was able to tell the difference. I never even knew those solo dipping cups came any smaller! Probably so you can ask for more so they can charge extra. Not only do they make sure to cut corners on the Pikliz. Which wasn't even enough to mask their thick, brown, over-fried, DRY and STALE bannann peze that has been sitting out. After they cut the plantains they don't soak in salted water. Bannann peze SHOULD NOT be so thick, should be made-to-order and served hot, fresh, golden and crispy. Just look at their photos and see for yourselves compared to other bannann peze / tostones you've eaten / seen. Then to ask if I need utensils for a to-go order? No ma'am, I'll be using my fingers and eating out of my hands today, thanks for asking. Don't ask, just automatically include utensils in the bag for the astronomic amount you charge for your food. Chain restaurants or even mom & pops all simply include utensils and napkins when preparing to-go orders. Only time to get away with that is when delivering. At which most times customer may decline since they're home / work and may already have those items. Price point - garbage for side of macaroni au gratin I'll let you all be surprised for yourselves on the rest on menu. * If anyone gave this restaurant 5 stars... they're obviously not Haitian and/or their tastebuds are shot.
