It was a really special family afternoon and we could not have done it without this rental agency. Honestly before this summer I did not know that you could even rent a motor boat on Nantucket. Fortunately I walked by the stand and got the idea. The service was awesome. You sign up online and pick the boat you want. When we showed up they had upgraded me to a bigger better boat. Then after the first hour of the trip it was clear the engine wasn't working perfectly (but it was OK) and so I actually had the cell phone of Brandon, the guy who helped us at the dock, and he literally came out and swapped out another bigger and better boat for us! Talk about customer service! The boats are solid and sturdy but nothing fancy. Honestly people rent them every day so there's no way you could possibly get a fancy brand spanking new boat through a rental agency. But they are solid and they work and it's just a fantastic way to explore Nantucket Harbor and the surrounding beaches. Truly an amazing day and again the customer service by Brandon was absolutely 10 out of 10. He could not of been a more helpful guy.

Max was a personable and fun; lots of great stories -- and knowledgeable enough to answer a broad range of questions, from "what's this shell," to "what are the medicinal uses of horseshoe crab blood," to "where should we have lunch," to "what's the best bloody mary on the island" to "what kind of bite do you think this is?" (The bite happened at the pool before, so no worries there.) All in all, a great trip including a spin out to the spit, some walking on the beach there, and a cruise around the harbor. It was less structured than I'd have expected (felt more free-form than pre-packaged excursion) and while that wasn't a problem for me, it might be for you -- hedge that by knowing what you want to see just in case it starts out with: so, what do you want to do? (Not a bad way to start such a trip, but being a bit pre-informed helps you answer the question.) The other experience we had was out-of-their control, but less good. Their primary boat, The Shearwater, was broken down the day of our Cocktail Cruise which kind of messed up our first day on the Island. While Rachael was super nice and prompt in explaining the situation and offering us options (e.g., reschedule), in the end, we were unable to do that cruise. Bummer, as I'm sure it would have been fun. That said they handled a bad situation with aplomb and I appreciate that.

We did multiple loops of the harbor with John who pointed out interesting sites along the way and a seal in the water! They provided a Bluetooth speaker and cooler with ice for our BYOB, which was great. They were easy to schedule with and reassuring when the weather was touch and go. Really appreciate Rachel and John - we had a great time and I would definitely recommend for a fun group outing on the water!!

Paid for two of us for trip from Hyannis to Nantucket. Trip was cancelled due to mechanical issues…read more Ok that can happen, I get it. But the handling of it was bad. When we first arrived we were greeted by a salty sailor type guy who grumbled "it's not running today. Hasn't been running all day..." then rattled off a confusing list of options as if it was our problem, and "go to the ticket booth". We went to the ticket booth where the guy - who clearly hates tourists - rattled off options, each one with an attitude like it was just our problem and we had to know the area and options and if we didn't we were just stupid. "well you could take the freighter... well you could try that other boat over there... well..." We asked, "any idea when it could be back running again"? "nope." 2 stars because they gave us a free ride back. But even that wasn't clear. Return boat was canceled. Went to ticket building before the return trip... got another ticket person who was very unclear. "We can't give refunds here." (WTH, this is a large ticket building, not just a booth and they can't rectify there?!). Now we knew about the freighter and passenger "slow boats" (2 hours instead of 1) and were lower cost so we were just looking for the difference refunded. "can't do that here". then "just hop on, and it will be free back, then go to the ticket counter and talk to them". Of course when we got back nothing was open. So we got online the next morning. Managed to get a full refund so the return ride was free. Turned out ok. Slow boats took 2 hours off our day but whole trip ended up costing 1/4 of what it would have it the boat was working.

Which was a headache with the ticketing agent but we got our tickets exchanged and were able to come back early. One thing that was disappointing was the cost of a can of beer that ranged from $10.50 to $20. That's ridiculous.
