I had a great time seeking and searching in this store that does so much good for the community. I generally know I'm in the right spot when the staff has green hair. It gives me comfort. Another great thrift re-sale store. Angles of Hope has pretty much a little bit of everything in it. Service counter as you walk in to your right. Household items, glassware, pots and pans, etc. to your left. There are racks and racks full of clothing, women's, men's and children's. They also have a "new" merchandise rack at the front by the counter - these items are at full re-sale, however significantly discounted off retail - most items on this rack are new with tags. Lots of cheap children's clothing. A decent selection of footwear by the children's clothes. Books, music and other types of merchandise to the back and left side. They have a large selection of old vinyl here and a pretty decent amount of cd's, dvd's, etc. It's pretty well organized and the staff I have encountered have all been friendly and helpful. They have discount days that vary everyday and there is always a sale of some kind going on. Saturdays are half price day. They also have 1/2 price days on different categories throughout the store regularly. This is a good source for thrift-ing and finding decent merchandise at a fair or better value. We go in here semi frequently. There aren't a lot of thrifting options locally. Angels has generally mediocre and sometimes dirty clothing. We usually are looking for household items or sometimes hoping to find clothing (but rarely do). It's very overpriced. Today, i went to donate. I inquired about donation (they don't use their handy roll up donation door and the number on the sign outside is disconnected). You're expected to take your donations in the front door. The employee happened to be standing outside. Without looking at anything I had (many things were not clothing items or were new with tags), the employee said "have you washed everything in the last 48 hours?" And I said "it's all very clean, and freshly washed this week, but I can't guarantee it's all been washed in the last 2 days". She said "well, it's a no, then." And I said "but I could've lied and just said yes!" Employee: "it's all about the interaction for me and based on this experience you can't donate anything." What the heck?! Is she saying I don't pass the vibe check?! I'll take it. I don't want to pass the vibe check at a place with dirty and overpriced broken items! I'll take my items to the Miranda's rescue thrift store which is FANTASTIC! I suggest you check it or the rescue mission out and skip this weird, negative place (except to take a picture on the cool wing wall outside!). Literally the weirdest business experience I've ever had, and another reviewer had something similar. So I guess that perhaps this manager doesn't pass MY vibe check. read more

There are some things here I can recommend people buy, such as books. Even then, the options are slim. I suggest you all do your thrifting at the many yard sales and rummage sales that go on around Eureka and Arcata. I suspect that this thrift store, along with the other thrift stores around, knowingly take advantage of being one of the only thrift stores nearby. All the items are donated and can look like garbage, but are still marked up very high. Not even the customer service can make me raise this rating, man. I'd rather donate my crap to the nearest dumpster so the homeless can look through it for free. read more

Disappointed with the staff at this place, every experience I've had here had left me with a sour taste in my mouth which sucks bc I love what they are trying to do there helping youth and so I always want to support this local thrift. But after being turned away every. Single. Time. I've walked in the door with a bag of baby clothes and items costing an upward of 250$ even when I called ahead of time to make sure 100% they would take them I walk in and can't even get a word out before being turned away. 3rd time in a week. Came in to drop stuff off and shop. The old dude just sat at the front clipping his nails while pretending we weren't standing there. Also they dont refund you, they give you these little coupons for their store. Pretty much all thrift stores in the area are greedy, overpriced ($70 for a keyboard that came out in 90s and wasnt even priced that high then?), unprofessional, customer service doesnt exist. My daughters love this store and they are the ones that told me about how great it is. I enjoy shopping here because I always find exactly what I am looking for and sometimes an unexpected great find. One time I needed an adapter for an old DVD model I bought through Amazon. I was going to go to Walmart, but I remembered Angels of Hope and went here instead. I asked for help to find one and it was gonna take a while. The gentlemen who's name I forgot, sorry, offered to look for it and give me a call. He called within 2 hours! So again, I got exactly what I came for and I saved money in the process. read more

On Fridays you pick a stone out of a bag for a discount. We scored 75% off a $30 desk and it came out to about $8. We spotted something else after we already paid and Awesome Al still honored the 75% off. Whatta sweetie. Saturdays are half off! They have daily discounts but I don't remember all of them offhand. Came to the store today to find it closed when they were advertised to be open. One passerby said that they were late to open the weekend before as well. This is a really poor way to run a business when there are 10 people waiting outside to give them their business. read more

A friend suggested this thrift store to me, saying its one of her favorites in town, and I can see why! It suddenly got real cold out and I was kind of worried about my sweater / warm clothes situation. I walked in around 6:40, having only 20 minutes until closing. The man working gave a very friendly 15 minute warning as I quickly ran around the store. I had an arm full of possible buys, as I ran into the fitting room about 5 minutes before closing. I ended up getting a bunch of good finds! 3 sweaters, 3 long-selves and a jacket type over coat all for 20 bucks! The worker didn't kick me out right at 7 and was very nice about it saying "I saw you looking through all the sweaters and warm clothes, and well, I don't want anyone to be cold, so I figured what's a few extra minutes" so sweet! Great prices! Great staff! Great place! I'd definitely recommend this spot to anyone! read more

Saturday is the best day of the week because angels of hope has everything half off. This is a great thrift store and like all thrift stores you have to do some digging to get gold. But, the gold is seriously GOLD. My favorite clothing pieces of all time are from angels of hope. The key is going on Saturday because the prices are ridiculously good but they have different deals every day for veterans/students etc. read more

Dont waste your time, the chunky female cashier is rude if she even has time ro help you. The place is a dump with overpriced trash.

I have been to most of the thrift stores in the area (you can read my other reviews), but only got a chance to go to Angels of Hope today. The store is very large and they have shopping carts, which is great if you've shopping with a toddler. What they do have: nice selection of women's and men's clothing, nicely organized, if not super large babies/kids section, some furniture, housewares and books. THe don'y have many kids toys or other baby/kid accessories. I did think the prices on household goods were a little higher than other shops in the area (Miranda's, St. Vincent de Paul), even though the quality of items was equivalent. They do have different daily discounts, I think one was half off for students and faculty, so maybe that's the time to go. read more

Loved the setup, it was nicely organized and wasn't overflowing with stuff. All the clothing was color coordinated by style, and it all seemed of nice quality. I wasn't overloaded with things to look at, and my friend found a great shirt in her favorite color that is oh so soft! read more

I have found so many things for amazing prices here. It can be hit or miss as all thrift stores are, but it's worth it for the prices. It can be difficult to donate here because they have limited space and might turn your donations away one day, but I always try to support them. Al who works up front is very friendly and so are all the young people they hire. read more
