Because he had done good work for me previously, I allowed him to start the work while I was out of town. When I returned, I discovered that the work was incomplete, the yard was rutted from his machinery, the wood chips had been blown into the wrong area, and the stumps hadn't been cut to the ground. He agreed to come back and finish the job. He didn't, and when I finally got him to answer my emails/calls, he pled poverty and asked for more time which I was happy to provide. But, once again, he didn't return and refused to answer calls or emails. I filed my complaint with the BBB and, after 8 months of trying to get him to honor his contract, moved on. He came by the house in person to give me an estimate, worked around my schedule, and got the job done very quickly (~3-day turnaround from initial contact to job completion).
