Optometry likely ok. Management from optometrist down through eyeglasses and service: in a word, terrible. 1) There was no warning verbally that prescription lenses could be redone once only; 2) Business seemed only interested to get you to the glasses salesperson for a new pair, including new frames; 3) Various people I've met reply that "Progressive lenses" manufacturing is very poor, bordering on a "lost art." Certainly the case here. 4) Since a wide layer of the population need this prescription, inform customer price could be higher and use a better lab/company to make them! After several complaints to the parent company: "2020 Family Vision" in Farmington, Hills [ or other locale ], I gave up. At this point, I can use this new pair for driving a car or bus, but must switch back to the old pair for computer writing, reading, and sales work at a business. For years I have been going to SVS vision to get my annual eye exam. Honestly I don't understand why this business received any negative reviews. Don't waste your time with these greedy yahoos! It looks like a completely new crew. The old full service oriented employees are no more. There is a new person there who loves to dress in red appropriately like the devil. Because she flat out lied and said that I told her I use the glasses in high heat conditions.They do not honor their 1 year warranty. They are still trying to charge me $50 even though I brought in the paperwork showing that they were still under warranty. I Paid $1000 for Bolle sports goggles and the red rubber nose and eye rims deteriorated in the a sticky goo and made it impossible to clean the glasses which makes them unusable. My wife and I have spent thousands of dollars there each year for several years. We are done! And you should be too if you value your dollar and service. read more

My complaints - I would not go back 1-I paid extra for a contact lens exam which is fine, but then my insurance company said they didn't cover those contacts and the Ypsilanti vision said I'd have to pay for another contact lens exam in order to get a different type of lenses. Unsure if that's normal but I haven't had that come up before. 2- I got glasses from Zenni and went to have Ypsilanti vision adjust it to my face and the woman working there I felt like was just being ridiculous and bending the glasses in all these clearly asymmetrical off ways completely bent out of place, to the point where it was clearly not acceptable. Then it got to a point where it was worse and I just wanted it how it was and they charged me $5. I never had to pay for that since I got my exam etc there and also she was just doing a ridiculous job. read more

They made my glasses with the wrong prescription...twice. Nearly three months later, I'm still waiting for them to get it right. They have now decided to make them with a different prescription, the third one, which is weird since they've only done two exams. I've been here seven times now with no results. Been promised three times now that the doctor would call me back, but have yet to hear from her. The woman in the frame shop blamed everything on the doctor right from the get go, which is a very unprofessional thing to tell your patients, especially when I hadn't asked. When I asked about getting some of my money back because the second (now third) set of lenses was considerably cheaper than the first, I was told they couldn't do a refund on custom lenses, even though *they* made the mistake. So, they charged both me and my insurance too much money, but won't make it right. Like the other reviewer said, don't waste your time or money at this establishment. read more

Am reporting them to better business bureau. They got my prescription for my lenses terribly wrong. Thought it was my eyes and that I was going blind. Another optometrist said it was their inaccurate script. Do not go to this place. read more

I decided to bypass Dr. Moss's office when reordering my contact lenses, not just because it's cheaper to order online, but also because I had to wait so long to get my initial set of contacts through his office. Honestly, I would consider paying more to support a local business, but not if it's going to take weeks to get what I want. When I got my contacts in the mail, I found that the left lenses were for the wrong prescription. This was my bad in the sense that I entered the order wrong, but when I called the company to straighten it out, they said, "Wow, you're optometrist should have corrected that information when we called them to verify your prescription". Well, I guess that Dr. Moss's office verified it properly the second time around, if they bothered to look at my prescription at all. I don't think I will be returning for my next exam. The staff was really great with helping me find frames that looked good and fit properly. I'm a little sensitive to the test where they put a puff of air in your eyes. They had to give up after the third time, because I jumped straight up out of the chair (just reflexes, I guess) and it took a while before I was willing to climb back down from the ceiling. The new glasses were great. I think it's about time to go back for a second pair. read more

I'm updating again, this time after having to go through the hassle of moving and finding a new eye doc. I went to the place voted best on Yelp in my area. It's been OK, but I've found myself comparing it to Dr. Moss and frankly if I were still in the area I would go back. Despite some of my previous complaints about the scheduling/prices/delays, the bottom line is that Dr. Moss is a GREAT eye doc who spends a ton of time getting things right and making sure that you see well. In my mind, that does a lot to counter any other hassles. I'm not saying that the doctor-does-all method is necessarily the only model that works, but as a patient I really like having a doctor who is as involved as Dr. Moss. As far as contact/eye exam prices, it seems as though most places I've seen out here have been about the same price or more expensive. read more

Horrible wait times, with no apologies or warning. The first time I visited the office he was 75 minutes late and I was told it was "not typical" and there were just some late appointments that day. I chalked it up to chance and ignored the wait time. The second time, I called in advance to see if he was running on time. The front desk told me he was "only 5 minutes behind" so I showed up on time. What a waste, he was n HOUR late again, spending nearly 45 minutes with the patient that went in in front of me. I understand he is chatty and that's great but seriously, my time is important too! Waiting around for an hour is just unacceptable and unprofessional. I will NOT be going back to his office again for this type of service. read more

Every time I need new glasses or contacts, I have to find somewhere new, because no chain places seem to be able to get it right, but that's unfortunately what my insurance pays for. So I thought I'd try Dr. Moss's Optimeyes. I did find a cool pair of glasses, but still have no contacts and it's about 6 visits and 6 months later. Once they ordered me a TRIAL pair of contacts and it took--I'm not kidding--almost 2 months to get them in. After much hassle, they told me, actually, the contact maker DIDN'T MAKE THEM ANYMORE. Nice of them to make me wait 2 months and call them 10 times, thinking they're on their way the whole time, only to find out they were never coming. Once, I went in on time and waited almost 45 minutes for my appointment, during which time nobody bothered reassuring me he was coming or that I'd be next. Finally I was so mad I said I was leaving and they simply said "we can schedule you another appointment, it's not our fault, it's the doctor's." Lame. So I finally got around to ordering contacts after about 3 trial pairs, and it's been 3 weeks. They said they'd be ready in about a week. I'm still waiting. When I called today, they said they'd be in soon. I don't believe them. read more

My eye was in severe pain! Dr. Moss's staff worked fast to get me in for an emergency appointment. Within seconds, Dr. Moss had looked into my eye, and with the precision of a surgeon, extracted a small filament of metal. It all happened so fast that I didn't have time to be scared. I just saw Dr. Moss for the first time today and was very impressed with his knowledge and the fact that he actually, without prompting or questioning, told me what he was doing, what he was finding, and why my eyes were changing. Very refreshing after many years of exams answering: "Which is better, 1 or 2? 3 or 4? and so on and getting a prescription that mostly worked. As we did change my contacts prescription, we agreed not to order anything until I try these out for a few days or a week. Front office staff was helpful and efficient in getting me my discounts. read more

I've been going to see Dr. Moss for many years and will be scheduling another appointment shortly. I understand that some reviewers feel that the eyewear sold on location is more expensive than what they can get online, and to them I would just say that you can get a copy of your prescription and order glasses or contacts from anywhere you want. Others have complained of lengthy wait times but this has not been a problem for me personally over the years. My primary concern as an airline pilot is that my eye exam be complete and that potential problems are not overlooked, and that my prescription for glasses is as accurate as possible. I have been going to Dr. Moss for many many years. He is not only extremely thorough in his exams, but explains things to you in terms you can understand. In addition, I have found him to be very kind and compassionate; traits sometimes lacking in many doctors. However, my experiences have also been consistent with each trip. He is a great man and doctor and staff is helpful as well. He will be missed if/when he retires and would not even think of going anywhere else read more
