March 2021 Visited the Ysleta Mission Gift Shop for a Yelp Elite Perk. Visiting was the perfect "getaway" from the usual monotonous work week. I happened to visit during one of the El Paso March month mega windy days, I was surprised to enter the gift shop and meet the most pleasant gift shop staff member. She was bilingual and was very knowledgeable. Surprisingly (after living in the El Paso area for over 4 years) I had never been to that area of town. I didn't know there was a Casino nor a church, gift shops etc. The staff member explained Ysleta Mission is the oldest Mission in the state of Texas. Founded in 1682. That specific piece of information grew my interest for the area because I love history and now I feel silly all this years I didn't know about it. The Yelp Elite Perk consisted of cool Yelp goodies and a beautifully hand painted wood box. The attention to detail to the hand painted box filled me with joy. I fell in love with Ysleta Mission Gift Shop. Everything in the gift shop is absolutely beautiful. The cool thing is that they have a website ( www.ysletamissiongiftshop.com/ ) you can order their unique gifts and get them anywhere in the US. I have so many more things to say about Ysleta Mission but this is only a review and not a book, but trying to make a point here we go... Their paintings are beautiful and affordable. They sell the neatest ornaments and masks. They also have holy water available and they sell cute glass bottles to keep your holy water. They sell jewelry, rosaries, crosses, jewelry boxes, paintings, etc. I am so happy to have the opportunity for this Yelp Perk because I visited a place I would have never visited and loved it. If you need a beautiful unique gift this is the place go.

Friendly parking and cashiers. Beautiful old church, with many artifacts, including a Christ in a Coffin from 1789(?)

While the gift shop has only been in business a relatively short time, about 4 years, the mission was built in the 17th century and I find historically significant places so interesting. And this is not your average gift shop either --which are often filled with kitsch. Instead, their items are made by local artists and artisans and its worth the visit in and of itself.   They were ready to give us helpful information about the pieces and the artists who made them and they have many beautiful items. Whether you are into religious iconography or regional arts and crafts there are many one of a kind works to choose from. I highly recommend checking it out.

Cross I ordered for my nephew on the way.

Are you still looking for a Christmas gift for someone special in your life? If you are, I would recommend checking out Ysleta Mission Gift Shop. I heard about them when I was doing a freelance writing assignment. I'm really glad I found out about them because they offer beautiful works of art by local artists. The good thing is that the artists earn 100 percent of the profits. The gift shop has many other items like face masks, coffee mugs, handmade plates, Christmas tree ornaments and lots more. The owner, Irma Lopez, told me they offer around 4,000 items. A lot of their items are religious but not all of them are. They ship nationwide and even offer layaway and customer perks! Whenever you spend money with them, they give you a little bit back to spend on your next visit. How cool is that? You have to sign up for the perks on their website. I have a nephew on the way in February so I decided to buy him something from here. I got him a beautiful hand painted cross that's made out of wood. The words are in Spanish but in English it translates to: Guardian Angel, my sweet company, don't leave my side at night or in the day. I bought the cross so that it can be hung up in his room. My favorite saint of all of them is St. Jude. He is the saint you go to whenever you need help with a desperate or hopeless situation. There is a nine-day novena for him. I decided to buy a St. Jude medallion. I like to collect St. Jude items so it will be a perfect addition for my collection. The shop is located inside of the Ysleta Mission/Church. The church is closed right now but the shop isn't. However, you can also shop with them online. This is what I did. The shipping cost wasn't that bad. I feel like the items are also reasonably priced. I spent close to $20 with shipping included. Let's continue to support local, friends! This is a fine woman, veteran and Latino/a owned business to support. Here is their website: https://www.ysletamissiongiftshop.com/

Prompt shipment. The owner is on top of things and runs a good shop! The quality of the cards was just right.

It really is such a gem tucked away in the city in a very humble and simple outdoor shopping center, but certainly worth stopping by :) ! I had Googled the best souvenir shops close to my hotel and "So El Paso" popped up on my search ! I am so glad I stopped by here because they truly have some of the most thoughtful and meaningful gifts you can give anyone, whether you are a local to the area :) ! Or whether you're like me - a tourist who wants to bring back something thoughtful and meaningful to family and friends back home in CA :) ! I specifically wanted quality souvenirs that are really unique to the area or region :D ! I met the owner and also one of her employees :) ! Both of them were really friendly and warm ! The owner told me that she is originally from El Paso, but had lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for about 20 years before coming back to El Paso :) ! If I had heard correctly, I believe her employee told me that this store has been open since 2020. I purchased some Mexican candied cocoa pecans, some churro cookies, and some margarita powder mixes :D ! I purchased some Mexican spice cocoa pecans, some churro cookies, and some margarita powder mixes :D ! So far, I have only tasted the Mexican spice cocoa pecans, which are delicious :) ! I haven't tried the churro cookies and the margarita mixes yet :) ! But I plan to gift some of these to family and friends :) ! They also have nice holiday gift sets that are beautifully wrapped and ready to gift :D ! When I was shopping there yesterday, there was a customer there who seemed to be ordering in bulk for a group of people :) ! She was carefully choosing items to purchase as she was conversing with the owner :) ! So for sure, these are wonderful items you can gift to individuals or huge groups :D ! I wll definitely be back the next time I visit the west side in El Paso :) ! The owner and her employee really go the extra mile to take care of you and your needs :D !

OMG SUCH PERSONAL CARE!! If I could give them 100 stars I would!!! The staff asked me who I was…read moreshopping for and what would they like. They they pointed out what they had on sale.... not overly marked up like most places... plus I got a super veterans discount! And take a look at the personal gift wrapping for my kiddo in their fav color!!!!
