I'm so happy I was told there is a La Michoacana in Conroe, TX :)! I have an amazing fave place in…read moreConroe that sells huge healthy (no red lard yuck on tamales) tamales for a great price. Problem is they don't sell in store made authentic salsas for them. That is where La Michoacana comes to the rescue with their wonderful assortment of fresh made salsas. They sell about 6-7 kinds plus a container of spicy red onion/raw veggies pickled up Mexican style. Only problem the cashier lady told me one of the salsa's was really mild. Well it wasn't and my hubby ended up not being able to have salsa on his tamales. Hence the 4stars for the review! The fresh and marinated meat department is 5 Star! It takes up the entire back side the grocery store. It's also very organized and the gentleman spoke English :)! Much of the marinated meats are also cut up in the marinade ready for grilling/barbecuing. They have a smaller bakery section where prices fluctuate on whether they or Arandas Bakery has better pricing. Their Tres Leches cakes don't look made on location either. Great pricing on veggies. Plus everything looked fresh! Good sized poblano peppers. They have the typical taqueria section section to get a quick snack or meal like their other grocery stores around the Greater Houston Metropolitan area! They are re-doing the ladies restroom so you'll have to use the men's restroom for now if Mother Nature is calling. I'll be back and Reccomend this place :).

I did not expect to find a place like this in Beaumont. It was right near our hotel and I love…read moreMediterranean food so stopped by. We had a gyro sandwich, a Greek gyro sandwich, hummus, stuffed grape leaves, a Greek salad, three flavors of baklava and an American (ham and turkey) . Everything was tasty but the pickles in the Greek gyro were a nice surprise. It really gave it a pop. My dad said his American was "really good" which is the highest unsolicited praise he gives. The hummus was ok. The grape leaves good. The baklava was not overly sweet, which I think is always the downfall of this dessert although the chocolate baklava was surprisingly rich. The little market in the store has a great selection of teas, spices, desserts, cheeses, meats, olive oils, drinks, and international staples. Oh, and RV parts. There is an RV park in the back apparently. In addition to the food I wound up walking out with spices, teas, snacks, cookies, and more tea. If I had a way to keep the cheeses cold I would have bought a bunch of cheese. Big selection of cheeses. So, if you are staying the night in Beaumont, visiting the awesome wetlands to do some birdwatching just down the road, or you live nearly, stop in. And yeah, there is some religious stuff on the walls and the tables (giant Jesus family tree anyone?) no one tried to convert me. ;) They seem like a nice family and I'm a full-on atheist. To each his own, I'm all about the food!

The Baklava was delicious, not too sweet, and there were several varieties. We also picked up some tea & other favorite speciality items in their grocery. The current nearby bridge construction almost caused them to close, but loyal customers have help to keep them open! Thank you!! Let's keep place going! It is a Gem! PS There's a good birding spot about a mile from Abbie's: Cattail Marsh in Tyrrell Park.

The croquette was quite good, a unique experience. Shredded chicken, potato and cheese wrapped in a pastry coated with cornmeal and baked. At first I thought it was a bit soft, but the more I ate the more I liked it, it grew on me and I can recommend it. My acai bowl was made with a base of acai sorbet. I selected granola, caramel, and condensed milk for my toppings. The bowl was delicious--I'm not a huge fan of whole acai berries, but this sorbet was excellent. The server (the owner, I think) and I talked about cupuacu fruit, another base on the menu. It's a white, chocolaty fruit. You write your choices on a menu sheet, and I asked for cupuacu, but I got acai. Not sure he actually had cupuacu. But I was happy with it. The interior is very inviting, tasteful furniture and seats to linger if you wish. I did not see a public restroom. Service was friendly and enthusiastic. It's great to have this option in our neighborhood.

They are not overly stocked as major markets are so everything is always fresh and limited! You can find every ting You need from ackee to saltfish. My favorite thing about this family owned business is that They are always kind and helpful with every visit and experience shopping here thus far. Since I do not eat farm animals I greatly appreciate the veggie patties and roasted breadfruit! Since I can't get to Jamaica as often as I'd like this is like the island coming to Me! The ice cream is also divine! Everything is if I may be honest. The fresh produce is always a highlight of My trip to this market. Last My cubs enjoy visiting here too. Not only bc They get to see farm animals in this area of Humble along the country path but bc Bellin's offers really great snacks from the island! Definitely support this business if You're craving international food to nyam or to try something new!
