So I guess they just didn't restock them anymore. (FMI) I realized that Beaumont had a handful of Pinoy population just enough to make some nursing associations (2) so that somewhat intrigued me for the moment. The hummus was ok. The grape leaves good. The baklava was not overly sweet, which I think is always the downfall of this dessert although the chocolate baklava was surprisingly rich. The little market in the store has a great selection of teas, spices, desserts, cheeses, meats, olive oils, drinks, and international staples. Oh, and RV parts. There is an RV park in the back apparently. In addition to the food I wound up walking out with spices, teas, snacks, cookies, and more tea. If I had a way to keep the cheeses cold I would have bought a bunch of cheese. Big selection of cheeses. So, if you are staying the night in Beaumont, visiting the awesome wetlands to do some birdwatching just down the road, or you live nearly, stop in. And yeah, there is some religious stuff on the walls and the tables (giant Jesus family tree anyone?) no one tried to convert me. ;) They seem like a nice family and I'm a full-on atheist. When I politely told her I could not take those ingredients due to a medical condition of stomach acid overproduction, she refused to respect my boundaries. Instead, she aggressively pushed the products, told me my licensed doctors were "wrong," and claimed "there is no such thing as the overproduction of stomach acid." She defensively claimed she's "been doing this for years" and accused my doctors of tricking me. To make matters worse, she began talking incredibly loudly and became highly animated, causing a scene that made other shoppers stare. When I repeated that I couldn't take them and walked away to remove myself from the situation, she openly chuckled at my assumed ignorance. Even when I moved entirely to the self-serve herb jars, I could still hear her loudly mocking me down the aisle to anyone nearby, repeating that "there's no such thing."Gastric acid overproduction (hyperchlorhydria) is a real, clinically diagnosed condition. A grocery clerk has no right to diagnose an anatomy issue, give false medical advice, or publicly humiliate and harass a customer who states a product is medically unsafe for them. I was so upset I didn't look at her name before walking away but she was an older plus size Caucasian woman with light colored hair. This behavior is dangerous, highly unprofessional, and a massive liability for the store. I hope ownership and management address this immediately. I wonder if she's been doing this.

Well, recently I was introduced to Bee-Nut Butter made locally in Kountze, Texas at Moore's Honey farm, owned and operated by Chris and Anita Moore. They are real Texas beekeepers producing real Texas Honey. Just one bite and I was hooked. I am a connoisseur of good peanut butter and this is without a doubt the absolute best. It is the caviar of peanut butter. The taste is nutty and sweet. Neither ingredient overpowers the other. There are very, very small bits of peanut, but they are so small I could not call this PB chunky. It spread easily on the bread. I added extra honey for a little more sweetness. One sandwich was not enough, I had to have another. There is no comparison to this Bee-Nut and the store brand. This Bee-Nut is the BEST, along with their honey. Highly recommended and as soon as they replenish their stock I want some more. If you like a great pb&h sandwich, this one will "stick."
