We chose nine of about 35 free events, mostly played from the front porches of homes, and we reveled in live originals and covers of psychedelic rock, classic rock, blues, funk, jazz, americana, samba, and even polka, plus several DJs! We saw blues played from a condo balcony! Lots of people, often dancing, sometimes singing along. We missed some reggae, pop punk and post-punk, choral folk, Lilith-fair, "twang", hiphop, rap, soul, space and indie and progressive and goddess rock, and even karaoke. There were plenty of food trucks, restaurants, cafes, bars, and vendors of crafts, souvenirs, and some sidewalk chalk-art. There were facilities and shaded seating here and there. Just an amazing neighborhood music event, nearly annually since 2008, one of at least 75 annual porchfest events around the continent!

Some of the porch owners even go so far as to keep their guests cool with popsicles or water. Very nice of them! If you stick around a while, you'll be able to hear several different bands. While some are ... weird, you can also discovery great groups you wouldn't otherwise discover. And the neighborhood is hopping as well. Make sure to make reservations if you want to eat somewhere, and if not, the food trucks are out as well. I would definitely recommend this event to anyone! Just bring an umbrella if it rains!

The space was until used amazingly and there was so much more room to walk around. I was happy to see the facility was well taken care of and clean, and equipped with hand sanitizers throughout the building. The bathrooms were well maintained and the staff for both the convention and convention center were a lot nicer than the other cons I've been to. The food court and marketplaces were open though some stalls were going to open tomorrow and Sunday instead of today. I loved the dumpling stand and recommend the vegetable dumplings. The food was pricey but that's to be expected for conventions and other events like this. I didn't get to any panels this evening because there was SO MUCH to look at but tonight hosted a lot of really interesting cosplay panels such as foam crafting and materials. I also saw some panels that included tabletop gaming which is awesome! Note: some panels require an additional ticket not included with the wristbands. Now on to the artist alley! Oh. My. God. There were so many new and interesting artists that I know weren't there years ago. There was a delicious fudge shop and cashew stall and some really amazing comic stalls. The artists were fabulous and I made some new friends. I would like to recognize Literary Alterations for some of the coolest fandom jewelry and Macbath for their Shakespeare inspired soaps. I think the most disappointing aspect of this convention was the guest lineup. I'm not much of an Outlander fan and I've met the Princess Bride lineup at a previous convention. Many of the other attendees and booth owners also were disappointed by the lineup. In the past we've had Billie Piper, David Tennant, Jason Mamoa, and William Shatner just to name a few. No hate on the guests themselves this year but I just didn't see the big names that other cities are receiving. I feel like Cleveland Wizard World got cheated this year. Overall I am so thankful to Yelp for giving me the opportunity to go this year. I actually hope to be able to attend more Wizard World conventions because I was so pleased with how it was run. This is a must-go, the most delicious, genuine, and crazy quality/price ratio you will find in the area - I'd just wish this festival would be extended from like... January 1st to December 31st? This is a work of love from the local Church community and the Greek American community, depending on volunteers. The lines are long, but worth it, but it gives you a one in the year (four, I guess, to be exact) chance to really enjoy a lot of great food, music, and crafts. Their saganaki is opa!-certified, the lamb shank is to die for - recommend to pair with the orzo or lemon roasted potatoes - and their desserts are out of this world - someone needs to drag me away from the galatkoboureko tray or I think I could eat it all. We walked up and checked in and asked for the "DD" ticket AND they said that they didn't have any and that person could not enter. During my rant at the door people were walking out and people were walking in with children in strollers and dogs on leashes and they told me that it was out of their hands and they couldn't help me and that person would not be aloud in. What a disgrace. I will NEVER PARTICIPATE IN ANY OF GIANT EAGLE MARKET PLACE ACTIVITY AGAIN - what a betrayal on their part. I will not go patronize Giant Eagle from this day forward or any of their vendors participating in the wine fest. What a disappointment. Bad vibes. I asked for the superior advisor and they sent me another person of the same caliber to let me think that I'm talking to someone in charge. Bad management' . Told me the same BS of course. Our DD which was my husband and father of my adult daughter had to wait outside the entire time - it did not turn out to be an enjoyable event.

Of course, as with everything else, the ticket price has gone up but it's still worth the money. Some places are more generous, with the pour, than others but there are so many wines to taste that you won't mind a short pour or two in the end. There is everything from sweet to dry, reds, whites and blushes. I would definitely recommend comfortable shoes for all the walking and all the wine tasting. This event seems to gain more and more visitors each year, so the lines can get long, and especially if it's a fave. I also enjoy visiting all the vendors and grabbing something to eat.

My friend and I concluded a day of serial-outings here in the Flats, and as soon as we emerged from the sketchy $5 cash only parking lot, we could smell the fun in the air. While we're on the topic of parking, you can avoid the extra $$ and headache of creeping around the Flats parking lot by dropping your car in one of the other lots up the hill, most of which were $5 for the event. It's just a short walk away, the better to appreciate the breeze coming off Lake Eerie. Beyond the fences and security guards, the festival branches out into two wings along the bank. Lots of local vendors have tents set up along the eastern wing on Old River Rd, and there are plenty of places to rehydrate (with booze), provided you stop by a Ticket tent first to get your ID checked and exchange money for tickets. Which you can exchange for drinks, which you exchange for new friends and good memories. Or something like that. On the lawn on the western branch, food trucks herd like cattle next to tents with kids' activities and a good ol' fashioned state fair booth selling buckets of fries, bourbon marinated chicken, and blooming onions (which this Cali girl had never heard of!). Saturday evening, we were graced by the presence of Slyman's and La Taqueria. Some of the vendors on Saturday were definitely underprepared for the amount of people there, and before 6:30p even hit La Taqueria had run out of every meat except ground beef, Maui Shaved Ice was closed, and Coastal Taco's booth was on hold with a hangry gaggle outside as their people ran the few yards into the restaurant to restock. Surprisingly, the port-a-potties were in good condition. I imagine things went a little smoother on subsequent days, but at least you can always fall back on one of the many rooftop bars nearby when the cute babies and long lines become too much to handle.
