We ordered the Chicken Alfredo, Chipotle Chicken Pasta, pizza, and salad, and every single dish was absolutely delicious. The portions were generous without being overwhelming, and the Chicken Alfredo was the standout. The sauce was incredibly rich, creamy, and full of flavor--honestly, I enjoyed it even more than Olive Garden's Alfredo! The atmosphere was another pleasant surprise. While the outside of the restaurant may not immediately catch your attention, don't let that fool you. The inside is beautifully decorated, cozy, and full of charm. It's a smaller restaurant, which made it feel welcoming and comfortable. Our server was incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home. We also loved watching the soccer game on the big screen while enjoying our meal. My only suggestion would be to give a little more attention to the restrooms. They could be cleaned more frequently, and making sure hand soap is always stocked would really enhance the overall experience. Overall, the amazing food, welcoming service, cozy atmosphere, and great portions make this restaurant an easy recommendation. We'll definitely be making the trip back to La Puente again!

My son and I both ordered seafood pastas. He and I both ordered the clams with linguine. He got the parma rosa sauce will I got the traditional wine sauce. The meal also came with a soup or salad. Since it was a hot day, we both picked salad. One of our favorite parts of the meal was the bread. Not sure if it was on purposes but the bread basket came with both thin slices and thick slices. And don't forget the garlic infused butter. So yumm! As for parking, the restaurant is in a small strip center and only a few stores were open when we arrived so there was plenty of parking.

Date of visit: Sep 8, 2026…read more What a disappointing birthday dinner. I came here with high hopes of finding one of those hidden-gem, hole-in-the-wall Italian places, but unfortunately, it all ended up blowing up in my face. The biggest problem was simple: everything--from the soup to the main dishes--was way too salty. We were a party of six, and three of us ordered pasta with the garlic cream sauce: the Pescatore, Shrimp & Scallop, and Clam. The sauce wasn't thickened enough, so it was much too soupy for a pasta dish, and the taste of white wine was very prominent. The garlic cream sauce was salty too, although nowhere near as crazy salty as the Chicken Piccata, Tortellini Giovanni, and Minestrone. Chicken Piccata: Like everything else we tried, this dish was just way too salty. The lemon-butter sauce was completely overwhelmed by the capers, and eating it honestly felt like shoveling forkfuls of salt into my mouth. The only saving grace was the chicken itself, which was cooked well and had a nice golden-brown exterior. Tortellini Giovanni: Just okay. I've definitely had better. The cheese filling inside the tortellini wasn't particularly good, although the Italian sausage was pretty tasty. The more I ate, though, the saltier, heavier, and oilier the dish seemed to get. Overall, there was really nothing special about it. Minestrone: SO salty that I couldn't even finish it. I'm not sure if this is simply their recipe or if the soup had been refrigerated and reheated to the point where some of the water had evaporated, leaving the salt increasingly concentrated. It's too bad because the underlying flavor was actually there--it was just completely ruined by the amount of salt. Pizza: Just okay. The dough wasn't bad, and I actually liked that it had some chewiness to it. But for the price, I'd rather go somewhere else. I really wanted to love this place, especially since this was my birthday dinner. I wasn't expecting fancy or perfect--I was hoping for a charming little hole-in-the-wall with really good, comforting Italian food. Unfortunately, we left super disappointed.

LACMA Rock - Turning from Valley View onto Rosecrans

How quickly this spectacle was forgotten when the Endeavour tore through town…read more The LACMA Rock, which would later be stuck in place as their "Levitated Mass" and now sits mostly forgotten unless a herd of tourists wants to stand in front of it and take one of those corny perspective pictures of themselves trying to lift or push it, came through Southern California on surface roads. Avoiding freeways because it couldn't fit under bridges or overpasses, it had to go this slow, winding path from Riverside County. Well, the rock, wrapped up in white plastic like a frozen Butterball turkey, stopped for the night around the corner from my house. Honestly, Levitated Mass is far less interesting than the drama it was watching the rock get to LACMA. I ended up going out the night before to watch the damned thing turn a corner in La Mirada. There were 100 people already gathered. City vehicles were around to take down the street lights and make sure the wires were high enough, while police and paramedics parked their cars in the middle of the street to watch. One parked in front of a corner with a big group of on-lookers already standing there. An elderly lady, whose high-pitched voice occasionally rung out, "IS IT HERE YEEEET?!" started screeching from her lawn chair, "EXCUSE ME!! We were sitting HERE. You're blocking my view!!" and proceeded to throw her bedroom slippers at the ambulance. Then there was some drama with a stretch limo trying to come through the closed intersection and the police getting on their loudspeakers to tell it to move, to the roars of the crowd. While we waited for the rock to show up, got to talking with some of the people hanging around. Apparently this wasn't the first time a lot of them had seen the rock, with a few of them saying they'd been following along since Riverside. So yeah, the rock had groupies. It shows up with the biggest rig imaginable, with one truck pulling and two pushing. The rig was really long, with dozens upon dozens of tires. A low hanging tree ended up cracking and snapping as the branches got caught on the rock and ripped out. People ooh'd and ahh'd and then got in their cars to watch it make the next scheduled turn. I went home. Got up the next morning to get some cough syrup, still in my pajamas, and there it was next to the CVS with countless people from all around there to gawk at it as cars went by slowly, one at a time, since the traffic was cut down to one lane. Lots of impatient honking from people trying to get to the 605. It's sort of funny. Was this supposed to be performance art? It sort of inadvertently became such. It seemed like a bigger headache to get the LACMA rock around and yet people complained more abhorrently when the Endeavour came through in less than half the time. Can't wait for the next gargantuan thing a museum acquires for the betterment of the city's people to come rolling through to the tune of everyone's complaints and broadcasted yawns. Good grief.

It turns out they were 2 miles behind schedule and I just missed it when I got off the 71 freeway. On Saturday I found it and enjoyed seeing the truck it is on, but the rock is covered with an enormous trash bag. The museum has staff there passing out bookmarks with rock facts printed on it. Duane Johnson has nothing to do with it but it would be something to have their pictures together, eh?

Lucky for me, the weather was fantastic this past weekend, so we went! We arrived shortly after they opened on Sunday morning. There is a church down the street you can park at for free, but we found a spot in the neighborhood next door. Admission is free. There were a handful of vendors with jewelry, art, books...honestly we didn't check anything out, we were there for lunch. They have a highly organized system that I enjoyed. There are a few booths with menus for all the food vendors. Tell them what you want and they will ring you up for whatever you are buying, then hand you scrips to pay with. You cannot buy anything at the food booths with real money. I liked this cause it minimized the wait times in the lines for each food vendor so you don't need to deal with people figuring out what to order, how to pay, or people counting change. It's so streamlined and easy. For $40 we got a Polish beer, a bottle of water, a "dinner" plate, and three potato pancakes. The dinner plate was bread, a large heaping of sauerkraut, three potato & cheese pierogis, one kielbasa (your choice of smoked or fresh), a cabbage roll, and condiments of horseradish cream, mustard, and ketchup. All of the food was fantastic! Our favorite was the potato pancakes, which were savory, yet served with a sour cream that was kind of sweet, applesauce, and powdered sugar. They were sooo good! They had a couple things for kids, face painting, fake tattoos, a picture area to pose in. It was cute. There was a stage and we heard people would be performing soon, but we left before that got started. I would love to come again next year, if the weather is nice again!
