I've had this spot bookmarked for quite a long time but never really had the chance to visit J-Town until recently. I visited on a weekend afternoon and it was moderately busy but still had enough seats. There was a great selection of desserts to choose from and it was tough to choose! I ended up getting the Violetta and the Black Sesame Tofu Cheesecake. Violetta: A purple sweet potato tart that is one of their most popular desserts here. Despite its small size, this was quite filling and dense on the inside. Strong flavours but not too sweet. Tofu Cheesecake: I wasn't intending to get this but ended up getting it. The texture was amazing, very soft. The black sesame was a great flavour. I've had tofu cheesecakes before but this was certainly one of the best ones I've had. Overall, totally worth the hype after many years! The sit-down environment was a great casual space with a self-serve water station. I would totally come back again if I'm in the area. Note: If you want to pay with credit card, you will need to spend a minimum of $10.

In the recent months, I've been visiting for some great mont blanc desserts. My favorite is their mont blanc danish that has a generous layer of chestnut cream in the middle. And they are gorgeous too!

Made a special stop as this is a friend's favorite bakery for cream puffs and was hosting a get together. We got the original puff, the macha puff, and the special CNY puff. The puff texture itself is very unique, as it has a density and crumble that is more reminiscent of the top pastry part of a Chinese pineapple bun. It's not a very good descriptor, but that is the closest association I can think of. That is then paired with a perfectly silky and creamy crème on the inside of the puff. I loved the macha one, but the CNY puff was very cute and perfectly festive for the season. This will be where I go when craving cream puffs for the future.

This is very close to cakes you can get in Japan. I've been there many many times and I've never been disappointed. My favourite is the strawberry shortcake and the black sesame tofu cheesecake but anything is good here. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Love this place!

Love finding new desserts! The service was so good and patient as we decided on what to order, both of these were so light and not as sweet as I expected!

Excellent quality pastries with a Japanese twist. The food and ingredients are high quality and executed really well. I've tried a few items here: the Belle, a fruit tart, the Thyme to Meat quiche and Mont Blanc cake. The tarts have an excellent pastry crust and the filling was fresh and well balanced and the Mont Blanc was fresh, light and airy, and well balanced. The matcha latte is also super refreshing. The staff are nice and patient and can answer any questions about their products.

This cute patisserie is located inside JTown. It reminds me of Duo Patisserie a lot with the style of the pastries, the similar tart crust and the expensive prices (each pastry ranges from $5 to $8). On this most recent visit, my gf and I tried the basque cheesecake and the lumiere pastry tart. Basque cheesecake: Really light, fluffy and perfect burnt topping. The cheesecake was rich but still moist. Lumiere pastry tart: The crust was made from a REALLY good cookie crumble. The cheese mousse was lemony and the blueberry yogurt inside cut through the richness of the cheese perfectly. Sadly, because of how expensive this place is (and how far it is from me), I don't think I'd be a regular. I do want to come back and try the Abbie (chocolate raspberry) and Violetta (ube sweet cream) tarts though. They just popped out at me in the dessert window but my gf was feeling the other ones more haha.

Courteous service from the lovely gals behind the counter. Scrumptious cakes. They certainly will not disappoint. A-1! There are a few seats and tables within if you want to consume the goodies there.

finally had the chance to visit Yuzu No Ki bc last time i went they were almost sold out of desserts so glad i was there early! LOOK HOW GORGEOUS their desserts are !! i got their kinako mochi choux which was MY FAVOURITE and it has soy bean cream, red bean and mochi. i love the crunchy texture bc it pairs so well with the fillings! I believe they do rotating flavours for choux so be sure to check out their ig for updates. Another fav of mine was the black sesame tofu cheesecake bc omg it was so rich and nutty! Such a good combo you have to try it if you love black sesame!! Lastly, i got their Lumiére which is blueberry confiture, blueberry yogurt mousse, cheese mousse, milk glaçage & streusel cookies. idk what any of that means but it was delicious haha tastes almost like a blueberry yogurt but 100 times better LOL

Small patisserie in the j town plaza. Very beautifully made desserts but also tasty as well. Recommend the yuzu and black sesame. They're both very light. 4/5 stars because it is pretty pricey.

Been meaning to try this bakery out and it did NOT disappoint! Huuuuuge fan! The little pastries we got were amazing, not too sweet, and very fresh. The seasonal fruit tart was mango and it was nicely balanced with sweet cream and slightly tart mangos. Hojicha latte was good, you can choose your sugar/sweetness level. Slightly pricey but absolutely worth a treat.

Yuzu No Ki literally keeps me coming back for more. My first encounter with them was with their MATCHA TOFU CHEESECAKE...which was UNREAL. The black sesame in the crust was a delicious surprise, the nuttiness with the earthy matcha and silken tofu was a MATCH(a) made in heaven, haha! The YUZU DANISH was soft and not the best danish texture, but the cream filling was good. The PURPLE SWEET POTATO TART was barely sweet, so you get a true purple yam flavour while the tart shell was textbook perfect. I got their KROKANT to-go and really enjoyed the caramelized meringue cookie with hazelnut pieces. Since then I've also tried their Chestnut mini cake, Black Sesame cream puffs (perfect choux pastry with a delectable black sesame filling), Black sesame Tofu Cheesecake, & Mango Tart! If I'm in the area, this is my favourite French-Japanese patisserie to go to and I always make a point to stop by their next door neighbours Bakery Nakamura (their milk bread is a MUST) and Sasaki Fine Pastry (classic Japanese mochi) too. Happy dessert hopping y'all~

My boyfriend bought me some beautiful tarts from here for my birthday, and they tasted great! The shop is tiny; you walk in and there's a very square space. The front has a glass display filled with eye-catching, colourful tarts, and there are other buttery baked goods lined up alongside the back (madeleines, cookies, biscuits, etc.). Yuzu also does drinks, but I haven't tried! We got an assortment of three tarts for ~$30. Here is my review from most to least favourite: Violetta This purple sweet potato tart has sweet potato cream, creme chantilly and diplomat, and candied purple sweet potato cubes. While the texture may be more dense (the sweet potato adds some heft), I loved that the tart itself wasn't too sweet at all. It had a very earthy flavour that I enjoyed, and the buttery cookie crust was perfect! Nicholas This chocolate tart is beautiful - I was so mesmerized that I chose it immediately. Unfortunately for me, I didn't notice that its main ingredient is caramel (not a huge caramel lover!). I found the tart a touch too sweet and gooey for my liking, but my boyfriend who loves caramel greatly enjoyed it. Lea This attractive lemon tart with a sparkly caramelized tart also caught my eye. It's perfect for lemon lovers - it is quite acidic and hits you with a strong, overwhelming lemon essence. Personally, I would've preferred a more subdued flavour muted with a tad more sugar. Overall, yuzu has masterful butter tart bases - I couldn't help raving about the crust with every bite! Cannot wait to try more options next time.

Their main location is in Mississauga, and they expanded to North York a few years ago. Service is nice and cheerful, making you feel quite welcome. I like their drink selection that has some interesting things like black sesame latte, tiramisu latte, and grapefruit tea. Their dessert select is good too, with things big and small. Their rolls and cakes are excellent, with plenty of cream, not too sweet. The cakes are beautifully glazed and decorated. The sweet potato cake is fluffy and light. The mont blanc has a nice chestnutty flavour, but is a bit too sweet for my liking. At the moment, they are selling Korean dubai chewy cookies, but we'll see how long this fad lasts...

But she was right LOL. It was really good, and it was even better than the desserts at the restaurant we had dinner at that night. We cut the 6" cheesecake into 12 small pieces, and it was perfect for a sweet little treat at the end of our meal :) The staff were courteous and ready to help. It was quite busy even on a Saturday evening around 6pm. There are also tables inside the shop for dining in. Other than whole cakes, they do have slices of cakes available and other mini desserts + a lot of macarons! We did request the shop to write HBD on the cake, but the staff said they are unable to do it at this location (not sure why, maybe don't have the proper tools?). We also tried asking for a candle; we ended up having to buy a pack of 6 candles at the shop :\

Their designs are abundant on the website and they really get the design to a tee, it was PERFECT. Flavour selection is pretty good and I did have a short call with them while ordering on their site to determine which flavour was recommended as well as what colours I wanted the cake design to emphasize. I had to check Google reviews to confirm instructions on their location, but when I got to the Langham Square plaza it was easy enough to find based on their address (unit number 2006). Staff gave clear instructions at pick up to keep the cake in the floor of the car during transport and to store the cake in a fridge until ready to eat. The box for transport was great because I got to check the design easily before leaving and the ribbon was tightly wrapped to secure the box cover to the base. The staff speak Mandarin as well as English. Payment was all done online beforehand. Highly recommend ordering their cakes for any event!

Xuan Bakery has been on my list since they've opened and I finally had the chance to take a peek inside! It's your classic Chinese bakery, so nothing special there - you just take the tray and tongs at the far end and make your way to the register. The spacing can be done a little better - you can't really have more than 2-3 people looking and getting buns at the same time. SELECTION: There wasn't a lot of variety, but with the selection they do have, it was pretty unique. They have two different types of Pineapple Buns (bo lo bao): the classic and a Taiwanese version (which looks like Japanese melon buns). They also have several different sausage buns, including one with cheese and another with pork floss. These also look a bit different, it's not encased in the bun, but it's more of a hotdog kind of look. They also offer cakes and free samples of their cakes, which look and taste like your typical Chinese bakery cakes (not my preferred taste). They seem to really want to upsell their cakes (the lady kinda tried pressuring me to try and buy). PRICE: The prices were on the higher end. You're looking at about $4-6 per bun. They also have a 'lucky draw' going on right now if your subtotal is more than $25, but my draw required a minimum purchase of $35 lol (for a free slice of cake). FAV: The classic pineapple bun. The top was SO crispy yet the bottom was SO soft. I would go back just for this by itself. There was a lady ahead of me who ONLY bought the pineapple buns. She knows what's up.
