I snuck in here just before close today at 4pm. I felt a bit rushed. There were so many new things to see. As I was leaving, a very well dressed lady asked me if the store was closed, I said yes. She was very flustered and disappointed and said these opening hours don't make sense, during the holiday season, especially for shoppers who work full time hours during the week. I agreed with her, it doesn't make sense to close at 4pm on a busy December weekend. Especially in today's economy. You would think they'd be open till 6 or 8 at least. So today you lost two customers who were ready to spend a lot of money. I hope you consider extending your holiday hours. A lot of shoppers from District 1881 (most of those stores are open till 8) also head down to Wellington Ave and Mill Street at the same, only to find closed shops.

We were familiar with it's "sister" store in Harrison -- seeing the original store was a first-time experience for us. I had already settled my sights and shopping on some items in the Harrison store, so this stop was really only a quite short, drop in, and take a peak browse. Glad to have had the opportunity to catch a view -- it's a small, and rather cute little gift shop -- the offerings geared to, or appearing to cater more to 'local' customers, than their shop in Harrison.

I noticed most of the bigger floral delivery companies were cheaper, but their arrangements looked really dated and not as nice. The first thing that hit me when I walked into the little gift shop/food store at Limbert Mountain…read moreFarm was the deep scent of apple. It was their Circle Farm Tour Christmas celebration, and I was soon offered a lavender shortbread cookie (yum!) and a cup of hot apple cider. Yes please! They were making it right there on the little cast iron stove at the back, from apples that had been pressed on site. The store is well stocked with preserves and sauces and spice rubs made from some of the farm's own produce, with emphasis on garlic and lavender, as well as bath products by local companies and Vista D'Oro artisanal jams. They even have taste testers on hand so you can try just about any of the sauces before buying. Of course, that can make it more difficult to decide (Barn Burner Garlic Sauce +++1). My friends and I wandered a bit around the farm before going into the cafe ... since it's winter, many of plants are well, let's say dormant because lavender is a perennial. But walking around the barn and down to the garden, you get an idea of the abundance of herbs they grow here. Not to mention the views of the snow-covered mountains - beautiful! Several of us had lunch in the cafe - as mentioned, it's a small space but they accommodated our group very gracefully. The menu changes according to what's in season - in fact, it's just a little chalkboard listing the day's choices. Everything is fresh and made from scratch - a locavore's dream! And it's fun to watch the chefs working away in the open kitchen - complete with mirror on the ceiling so you can see what's happening on the counter. (I think they offer cooking classes as well.) I had a pasta with a squash sauce with red cabbage, pomegranate and orange salad. And the chocolate pate for dessert with a local cranberry sauce and whipped cream ... light in texture, rich in flavour - perfection.

Stopped into this facility during a walkabout & lunch stop in Agassiz, on our way to a stay in…read moreHarrison Hot Springs early last week. From some literature, read that the building was built in 1893, and was originally an actual functioning Canadian Pacific Railway station. In its present location, it now houses: upon entering, the 'Agassiz Visitor Information Centre' and 'Gift Shop', and to the right, the 'Agassiz-Harrison Museum', with several rooms of interesting displays and setups of "stuff & such" from its early days, and various historical happenings in and about this area of BC. 'Cool' and interesting, very neatly and nicely set up and displayed, with very easy navigating for all to see. And super nice folks providing service as hosts/guides, to help and assist. Visitor information and some local BC history, housed in a uniquely-interesting building -- sure glad we dropped by for a look!!

The owner brings in well made, unique and beautiful fashions that you won't see elsewhere in town. While I wouldn't classify Lolly's as a shop for the frugally minded, the quality of the clothes, and timelessness of the pieces that I have purchased there makes it worth the higher pricetag. I have gone there to be accessorized for an evening out (in my evening wear, hair done) and found the staff to be positively delightful - they had fun with me, chose the perfect accessories, and even steamed my dress for me. A wonderful shop!
