We go here for their twice-weekly aerobics class called Dance Party. Super fun low-impact exercise with great people. Highly recommended!!

I've been trying for months to cancel my membership but got charged again. When trying to call, no one answers. Nobody ever responds to emails. The personal training package I purchased didn't go well at all, multiple times the trainer didn't even show up. The pool and hot tub were under maintenance constantly. I was looking at Apple Maps and didn't see any good clear reviews so I felt the need to make one. I live the ywca here. Community oriented, always clean, the staff is really friendly and always says hi and there's a lot less turnover than at my last gym. I like that they have an app to sign up for classes and things. I like their equipment and I love swimming in the pool. read more

Friendly staff. Love the mission. A wide-variety of amenities and great fitness classes. Generally clean and well maintained. Older building that sometimes has issues but it's a great gym and is never crowded when I'm there. read more

1/1/2019 - I used to really appreciate this gym and it's vibe and mission but the rates just went up while the hours open have just been reduced while the facility and equipment have greatly declined in the last 4 years. The hot tub has been out of service for over 2 months and was going down almost monthly before that. Water has been leaking into the main work out area every time a significant rain or snow melt happens which and this has been going on for over two years. A health inspector could have a field day with what standing water on carpet in a busy gym might leave you with. The locker rooms did have mold issues they had to be torn apart for just to mitigate that. I haven't seen any new equipment in the last 4 years besides some larger TV screens. The men's locker rooms are smelly and crowded with rusty old very impractical lockers and frequently broken showers. There are very few open swim hours or other things you could bring a child to so a family membership isn't worth the extra money. The board or whomever manages the gym business side of this place is seriously not doing their job. read more

I got a "compliment" from a no face/no name/no reviews profile that is clearly affiliated with the facility, indicating that they knew who I was, failed to address my concerns, and defending just one small part of my review and telling me what it sounded like was wrong with me. :::sigh::: I guess that's the American way now...refuse to own up to your actions and blame your target. So very dysfunctionally Minnesotan, and kinda creepy. I'm sitting here wondering now: If they know who I am, what sort of vengeful thing are they going to do to me? It's old school, but I like it a lot. The Y has a different mission than most organizations. These are regular folks who think "community" first. I've developed friendships with diverse groups of people and I learn from these folks as well as the instructors. I use the weight machines and the treadmill and the pool and the sauna and they are all well maintained. read more

I admittedly do not have a lot of experience as a gym member. The staff is friendly. The machines are adequate, and there is plenty of variety for me to keep my workouts interesting. I use the weight machines, elliptical, treadmills, and bikes. I don't take classes or use the pool. Hand towels are free. For me the hours are plenty, open to 10 on weeknights and opens at 5 most days. The only thing that it would be nice to have are a track and basketball style gyms. I would also advise against going during the busiest hours (5-7) from Jan. to March. There tends to be a rush of New Years resolutionaries. You can still get a machine, but it may require a wait. I also like that the YWCA does good things in my neighborhood. There are day care programs, summer camps, literacy programs, youth fitness, and a kids swim team. It is a place for all body types and experience levels. There are people that I see there every time, and there are people there who obviously are getting back into shape or dealing with significant disabilities. read more

As a former member of Lifetime Fitness, my standards are probably higher than they should be. Machines at the YWCA are dated or not in full working condition, there are no TVs, magazines are many months old, mats are icky, towels are 50 cents, yoga classes cost extra, child care costs extra, the child care facility is in a tiny room, you have to sign up to use machines, bring your own padlock for a locker, and the fitness club isn't open 24 hours. These things are the polar opposite of a Lifetime Fitness center. Alas, I do not live across the street from a Lifetime Fitness center, so it would be twice as much effort to actually go and use a membership at one. I have no excuse not to get to this YWCA. My boyfriend and I are both Blue Cross of MN policy holders, so we get $40 off our dual YWCA membership, bringing the cost to just $22 for both of us (as long as we each visit 12 times a month). I'm going to have an open mind about the YWCA. It may be a downgrade in amenities, but I think I'll get more out of it in the long run. read more

Great facility. Clean, friendly, and good equipment. Been going here for years. The pool and sauna are nice amenities. I enjoy the group fitness classes as well. They recently redid one of the locker rooms, it's very nice with hair dryers and places to get ready. I would pick the Y over any lifetime or 24 hour fitness chain. Would highly recommend! read more

We like it ok. Their price is pretty good especially if you sign up as a couple. I like that they have a pool, it's a small pool, but that is fine. The facility is a little hard to navigate, and even though I have been many times, I still find myself getting lost. read more

I love the friendly, community-focus of this well-equipped sports center. No luxury, but plenty of space, good studios and equipment and fun, motivating instructors (I do zumba and pilates) who can cope with a very wide range of ability and experience. Cool place. Really value it in my local community. Great value too! read more

The facilities are well kept and the memberships are affordable, but the customer service is very poor. I was a member there for about a year, and I enjoyed knowing that my membership went towards community programs and support. However, I had a terrible experience with group classes, where they cancelled two group classes and didn't bother to give me a call or email to let me know. When I'd show up on the first day, and it became apparent that no instructor was showing up for the class, I'd go up to the front desk and (both times) they had no idea if the class had been cancelled or not. They gave me the email address for the manager. The manager did not respond to my emails, and all I wanted was my money back (since I had paid in full). I eventually had to go above him and email one of the administrators, and that got him to respond. When he did contact me, after weeks had gone by, there was no apology made or attempt to make it right. He actually responded quite resentfully, and only offered to give me my money back. Not even a, "I'm sorry for your trouble, and I hope you continue your membership." Although I did receive that response from the admin I had contacted. One of my friends also signed her son up for a swim class, and the instructor didn't show until the end of class - when he casually strolled in. The people at the front desk could not tell her what was going on, while her son sat by the pool for 45 minutes, waiting for a class that didn't happen. I told her this is, unfortunately, pretty par for the course there. TLDR: the management is unresponsive, immature, and the customer service is poor. I dropped my membership there and now go to a gym where my money, time, and commitment, is valued. read more
