He knows how to talk to the kids but also calls them out if they're being distracted or inappropriate. He's very understanding of the younger kids, he doesn't expect them to do much when they're new. The only rule is once you're off the mat, you need to stay off. I like that the class is only 30 mins long because my son tends to lose interest in things fast, even if it's things he likes. Coach has the weekly curriculum posted on the wall which I appreciate since I have no idea what the skills are called The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I wish there was more space. The mats are fine but the area where the parents sit can get kind of full. He has a shelf of snacks and fridge of refreshments as well for purchase. You can also buy the Gi there and other Jiu jitsu apparel in kids and adult sizes. I can tell it's already giving my son some form of discipline.

There are so many options out there, and of course every instructor will tell you that They are the best one...I was referred to Parker Self Defense by a friend, and all it took was one class to get me hooked. They have three black belt instructors, which is great for providing different teaching styles. They all do an amazing job on tailoring the self defense techniques to each student, since not every student is the same. Every class is fun and full of positive energy! The instructors there have really created a safe, fun, and open minded learning environment. I've been taking their classes for seven months now, and still LOVE it!
