I was confirmed for this appointment. - Arrived and was told they don't have flu shots yet for the season and don't know when they will. Complete waste of my time. - I advised they update their appointment scheduling procedures so they don't schedule flu shots before they are ready to administer them. The receptionist looked at me like I was stupid and said they can't do anything about that, it just depends when flu shots are ready nationally (that wasn't my question). - Before I discovered they don't have flu shots, the routine front desk check-in experience was bizarre. I was asked if my information (address, etc) had changed but had to ask twice for examples of my information on file so I could verify it hadn't changed. Then I was told to go around the corner, but there was no waiting area there, so I had to go back and ask a second time where to go. Super strange.

When trying to make an appointment for an annual wellcare visit the answer is always that there are no openings or the schedule is not out yet. I have not seen my PCP in 2 years, only a PA. I called around 11 a.m. to address a billing discrepancy regarding a student doctor and my insurance not covering services provided by students. Instead of receiving assistance, I was met with hostility from the receptionist, Keisha. She was argumentative, dismissive, and outright disrespectful. When I calmly relayed what my insurance company had told me, she responded with statements like, "I don't know what to tell you," and even accused me of lying by saying, "You're lying, that's not true." No patient should ever be spoken to that way, especially when trying to resolve a billing/insurance concern. I remained composed during the call, but the level of unprofessionalism was shocking. I escalated the matter to the Practice Manager, Joyce Summerville, and unfortunately, that conversation was just as unproductive. My concerns were not taken seriously, and the behavior was not meaningfully addressed. This experience has significantly damaged my trust in this practice. I will be filing a formal grievance. Patients deserve respectful communication and accountability when issues arise.

I've been coming to Penn Center for Primary Care for many years, and overall I've had a very…read morepositive experience. Since it's a teaching practice, your primary care doctor may change once they complete their residency. However, the office does a good job of notifying you when your doctor is moving on and helping you transition to someone new. While I've had several different physicians over the years, I really don't have any major complaints. One of the biggest advantages is that all of your medical records stay within the practice. Each new doctor has access to your history before your appointment, so you don't have to start completely from scratch every time. Even though every provider has a different approach, I've found that most of the doctors I've seen take the time to listen, hear my concerns, and work with me to come up with a plan that fits my needs. That has made a big difference in my experience. Getting a routine appointment can sometimes take a little while, but if you're sick and call the nurse triage line, they're usually able to rearrange the schedule and get you seen much sooner. Check-in is also quick and easy. Parking is probably the biggest downside. They have a newer parking garage, but it's a bit of a walk to the office, which can be challenging if you have mobility issues. There isn't much handicap parking directly in front of the building most of it is around the corner. While I understand those spaces would likely fill up quickly, having a few closer to the entrance would be helpful. Ongoing construction in the area can also make getting there a little more difficult, although there is metered street parking if you're lucky enough to find a spot. Overall, the staff and providers have treated me well over the years, and despite the occasional parking and scheduling challenges, I'll continue coming here. It's a practice I feel comfortable recommending.
