When we moved to Virginia 25 years ago, we bought a house in Vienna. Needing to have the interior completely repainted, we hired Dori Zampiello who was then starting to build his business. We were pleased with his crew and the work they did. 25 years later, needing exterior wood rot to be fixed and the house's trim to be painted, we thought again of Dori. His business has grown but his approach has not changed. The estimate that Scott and Pablo gave was thorough, Marvin and the crew showed up on time, worked tirelessly, were courteous, cleaned up after themselves, and did an outstanding job. I needed to have my mom's deck repainted to come into compliance with her HOA. I got three estimates - one from another painting contractor, one from mom's handyman, and one from Zampiello. Zampiello's team was great from the start. They contacted me right away to schedule an estimate. The estimator was on-time, took pictures of the deck from several angles, and took notes about the job. Zampiello's estimate came in at less than half of the other two, but given the detail provided in the project estimate (number of posts, beams, and railing sections to be painted), I was not surprised. Last year I hired a handyman to paint my house and replace some rotten wood. He was highly recommended by the home owners in Virginia Run. He was very nice. But the work was bad. A few months after the paint job, the paint started to peel off the house! He came back and repaired it. It was better but still not good! I decided it's time to call a professional! I saw Zampiello's ad on my monthly homeowners association magazine. I called and a man came over and did an estimate. It was too cold for outside job last year. I put a deposit and was told that as soon as weather warms up they will take care of my house. They called a few days ago. The day after the call everything was done! They did a beautiful job! The actual work was very good overall. However, the communication with the company is poor. Zampiello seems to really solely on email for communication and does not keep the customer informed of changes in schedule. Even after being told at least twice to call the customer (me) Dori continued to use email to communicate. In one instance I was told, via email that a member of his crew would arrive. I stayed at home in lieu of going to work to await the company rep who never arrived only to find out after I called Zampiello that the meeting was cancelled. In another instance, I was informed email, that the power washing as to be done the next day, which did not fit our schedule as no one would be here and we have dogs. So, all in all, quality was very good, the job well executed, but keeping the customer informed as pitiful and did not take into consideration the customers preference for communication and timing of the Job. read more

After requesting a quote I had to wait 4 days for a call back. All of the other companies called me same day or next day. When I was finally called I missed the call and called them back. Since it was an outdoor painting job they said that they can take a look at it the next day and I did not have to be there. So...two days later (not the next day) I returned home and Zampiello had left literature on my door. It said that they stopped by and I would receive the quote in 24-48 hours. I thought that was reasonable. They never sent me a quote. I went with one of the other companies who were able to quote me a price. read more

Spent over $5000.00 with these guys to repair and replace rotten wood and paint the repaired wood. First communication was patronizing and somewhat insulting as they assumed I knew nothing about carpentry or painting. It took over a month for an estimator to come out. Once I had the estimate it took over a month (plus my communication) to show up and do the work. While the work itself is satisfactory, some of the crew members were not. One of the foremen did not speak English well enough to communicate. Others were friendly but some were not. They failed to clean up after themselves and left debris in my home. The crews will also disappear without making any attempt to update you about the progress of their work. I had to stop them before they took off. Another surprise was encountering more damage that the estimator has missed. Overall, I would clearly use someone else in the future. FOLLOW UP: I received two rather rude emails from the owner stating that since he could not reference my transactions in his files, that this posting was bogus. He attributes it to a competitor and not a real customer. It is not my place to tell him how to organize his filing system, so draw your own conclusions here. We are so delighted with the wonderful work that Zampiello just completed. We had the house, walkways and patio power washed and what an amazing difference that made. They were a little concerned that all of the stains did not come out of the concrete, but we think that it looks great. Then they painted the exterior trim and porch and did an beautiful job making the exterior look brand new! The work they did was thorough, efficient but not hurried. They arrived promptly and finished a little ahead of schedule. We had two large areas with cracks and damage from water which they repaired beautifully! Since we were not having the whole ceiling painted, they told us that they would use the same color paint (we knew the brand and name) and they would do the best they could to make it match but there could be a slight difference. I can tell you that it looks perfect! It looks as if the entire ceiling has been painted - we are thrilled! The prices were very fair and are definitely an excellent value.
