Lots to look at! They have a lot of modernized 'art' and just fun, useful things all packed in. A few souvenir 'Sioux Falls' items but not a lot. What caught my eye? A bust of 'David' that is actually a planter. I felt since there is a David in town and I have seen the real one, it was time for me to add one to my art/souvenir collection. They were super nice to pack it for my continued roast trip and it successfully made it home in one piece! One oddity- I asked the guy behind the counter about the towns David and he told me a false narrative. Buy the goods not their stories. read more

Neat shop that is larger than it appears. Tons of knickknacks and goodies to view/read/smell/try on/ etc. There's a vintage section at the back - it's almost like walking through a museum. You can't touch it, but it's cool to see. I love the cards selection there. So many! (I keep the post office in service and actually write people the old fashioned way.) ^_^ Staff are friendly and can help you check out / find what you seek, if anything. Randomly decided to stop in as I was walking around downtown Sioux Falls. As of July 25, 2020 they are requiring masks and ask you to use sanitizer right when you walk in. ADORABLE stuff! Tons of gifts, books, soaps, kitchen utensils, journals, toys, jewelry, and small furniture pieces. I could have spent an hour, easily, looking around the place. I also could have spent plenty, but I was a good girl and only bought a coffee mug. The back area has some really cool old furniture and antique pieces. I'm not sure if they were for sale or just display. It was a little warm in there. Didn't feel like the air was working well. (The heat index today was 106. ) The place did smell musty, but with a mask on I was just sweaty anyways. LoL I'd love to pop back in someday if I'm in town and feel like a little shopping. read more

What a fun store! I was in Sioux Falls this past weekend and stopped in while waiting for reservations. It's a huge store. They have coloring books, cookbooks, toys for kids, crafts, antiques and more!! I could have spent hours in here instead of a short 30 minutes. The book list is quite up to date and I ended up buying the Thug Kitchen cookbook as well as a clay plate for my incense. My boo got a really cool plumage chart that will go great in the dining room. They have neat and unique items and I loved shopping there. Unfortunately, because I love this store, I called and asked if they would be willing to make a donation for a non profit. I understand they may get asked a lot. But the gentleman was so rude and hung up on me while telling me no. A simple no would have been fine. He didn't even allow me the chance to thank him. I wanted to tell him how muchI loved the store. But the second I tried to speak, he talked over me and then just hung up. This place is fantastic. Part novelty store, part antique store, and part fine gift store it is a great one-stop shop for everyone on your gift list. I came here while visiting family to purchase some gifts, and I was incredibly happy with their selection. The only thing that stopped me from making several purchaes for myself was my limited luggage space for my flight home. This store is full of wonders, knick knacks, doodads, gaud, and a lot of ornamental (mental is right) whatnot's. They have everything strange that you never knew you have always absolutely needed. But alas, for the classic "find" hunter the cost here is insane. For a 1/2'' knack pin, they want $1.50 - $2.50. For an item that took 2 cents to make and place there, I'm certainly not going to pay THAT for a half inch sized round pin... I'd give 5 stars if the cost for something so considerably useless wasn't so high. I'd give 4 stars if the staff didn't usually seem to be as useless as the items they sell. I gave 3 stars because for a novelty store they are quite novel. Everyone needs novelties... How about check out perpetualkid.com for your novelties instead of traveling to South Dakota to hit up a strange little store, in an obscure little city, in a state that most people think is in Canada or doesn't exist alltogther. read more

Easily one of my favorite time-killers when I come back to SoDak to visit the family. I almost always get a knick-knack and at least one book. Book section is surprisingly well-curated, the staff/managers and I seem to have a mutual love for Haruki Murakami and similar quirky, existentialist fiction. Knick-knacks and houseware is always my favorite, everything I've ever bought here has gotten 50 kajillion compliments (including a neon pink alarm clock shaped like a Russian palace, a photo collage made for postcards and cardboard replica of a mounted stag head). I wish the soda fountain the back was still open, it was so much fun! read more

Last week was the first time, I had spent any amount of time in Sioux Falls. Normally I pass through on my way to another destination. I was in town due to an event. I spent most of my day on Tuesday browsing through out various stores. In most places I was greeted with a smile and small talk. Not at this store. The man in the store never said a word to us. The store had a variety of times. Unfortunately I found many to be distasteful. I am not a fan of swear words on products. read more

As someone who moved to Sioux Falls a few months ago, it was such a squeal of a moment when I found Zandbroz. I'd heard of the place via the South Dakota Festival of Books, where I'd purchased a book from one of the vendors named Zandbroz. Fast forward three years. I'm taking a stroll along the avenue to check out possible Christmas shopping haunts for the upcoming holiday season. Lo and behold! Hark! What is that neon glow but Zandbroz! Entering to the right I saw several stacks of books including many of my cult favorites, Hunter S. Thomson, Charles Bukowski. Then I see the handmade ink pen section. Whaatttt!?! As a writer I'm all about some high quality ink pens. Gimme, gimme, gimme! Digging deeper into the offerings at Zandbroz I found my mecca. A shelf dedicated to all things Journals and Notebooks, including a very beautiful and difficult to find Mon Carnet de Poche in multiple sizes and colors. I stocked up, but not soon enough, as the red jewel of the bunch was M.I.A. on my last visit. What would be better than to have this baby back on the shelves for my future purchase? Not a thing, and thanks to the shop clerks at Zandbroz who wrote down my contact info and details on the journal for their next product purchasing session, I'll be back in as soon as feasible to buy mas y mas journals. I'm totally not done. They have some of the funniest gag gifts, several of which surprised and possibly frightened my unsuspecting loved ones this Christmas. Then there is the Caldrea collection that I want. One. Of. Everything. Candles, home fancies, and children's toys. It's all there without being commercially obnoxious. They only source those difficult to find items at Zandbroz, which makes this store truly one of a kind. read more

Very cool store; however, when I asked to look at a fountain pen after waiting for the clerk to stop chatting with someone, I was promptly dismissed for asking to see a fountain pen with a fine nib. "I don't order Parker pens with fine nibs." Period. End of discussion. There were other things I wanted to purchase, but the snarky attitude turned me off, and I left. read more

The sales staff were helpful and friendly as I looked for gifts. I found the perfect things with an early spring flair: stuffed rabbits and chocolate for the kids and a book for me. (Great book selection, too, with well curated new releases and the best classics.) As I checked out, the staff helped me wrap my gifts and loaned me a Sharpie. I haven't seen everything this world has to offer; but I love to travel and find unique little niches along the way. Please take what I'm about to say as build up, and not as me being pretentious. I have traveled the world, and much of the United States... including many visits to Manhattan. Yet this store remains my favorite. I recommend coming here when you have some time on your hands so you can leisurely inspect and appreciate all the baubles, novelties, and conversation pieces this shop has to offer. It's like Nostalgia with a modern twist, and any purchase is sure to improve your mood. I will admit that I am sad they no longer run the old fashion soda fountain in the back as they once had made the most amazing milkshakes and "home-made" Coca-Cola... or Cherry Cokes for special days :) But they do have beautiful jewelry, fountain pens, soaps, books, toys... robots!
