First, I called to schedule the move and they were reasonably priced and had availability. Upon callback I requested a 20 foot truck. They seemed reluctant to give me what I asked for. Since they didn't see the job prior, I think I would know better my needs. Fast forward to moving day. I am the first job of the day and they call me at the start time (8am) to tell me they'll be 50 minutes late. Citing the place they were coming from as the reason. Now I was up and at the storage on time. I waited and they were there after 9am. I waited for them to call and let my S.O. talk to them. They outright lied and made excuses. (I heard the entire convo). Then the manager called and we told him the issue and he initially cited the 1hour window they had and offered a discount. (The 2 stars are for them being professional sounding over the phone.) Now, I can understand that window on a busy mid-day job with traffic but this was the first job on a Sunday morning. No traffic to speak of. Now, I booked a second job as well. This experience was to be their audition and they started out poorly so we're going with another company. I so wanted to support a black owned business and I really had hoped they weren't what their reviews cited but alas, they on that bullshtuff.

These are just some of the characteristics Marines strive to be. The owner of this company, Jay, and his team from motivated moving solutions, do NOT meet this standard. They fail miserably, and as a former Marine, it's disappointing to see other Marines taking advantage of others. I spoke with the owner regarding a move from Falls Church to Crystal City. They were to move a sectional sofa for $125. We agreed over the phone on the price. On the day of the move, two men arrived, (not the owner), to assist with moving the sofa. Unfortunately, I wasn't there, so my girl took the lead. We did add a couple of more things for them to do: we needed approximately ten boxes, a mattress and base spring moved to a bedroom one and a half floors up. The price agreed went up from $125 to $335, instantly, because of those added items. Robbery and pure Greed! My girl was frustrated. She had to haggle with these two guys in crystal city to lower the price. They finally agreed on $265 for the total cost of the move. Now, what kind of reputable company would allow someone to haggle the price down? A company that has no moral integrity; thats who. First, if you ever deal with this company (which you shouldn't) get the estimate in writing. If things should change, get it in writing. Second, I'd never want to believe a company managed by a former Marine would take advantage of a woman. But that's exactly what they did. I wasn't around and they bullied her and raised the price to benefit their own pockets. I'm really disgusted thinking about it. This company lacks the moral compass to succeed. They have no integrity, lack leadership, judgment, and are a bad representation of the United States Marine Corps. Jay, do the public and the nation of Devil Dogs a favor. Take down your company sign of an Eagle, Globe, and Anchor. YOU don't rise to our level and YOU are a black eye to our men and women in uniform.

After my move, I was disappointed to find that they had put tape directly on the backing of a custom framed item, which ripped the backing when it was removed. Months after my move, I set up a nightstand with a built in charger, only to find the movers had shoved the built in cord into a small hole in the bottom of the night stand, making it impossible to remove. The only way to fetch the cord is to completely disassemble the piece of furniture, which came to me fully assembled. I reached out to the owner, Edward Roland, to see if he would reimburse for a Task Rabbit to disassemble my furniture to correct the damage, but he said that "internal wiring" is not his responsibility. I would not recommend this moving company to anyone. Next time, I'd go with a more reputable company.
