I spied it one morning as I was passing and I thought it looked cool so a couple of weeks later a jumped off the train, came down here, and ordered my breakfast. As well as a cup of tea I ordered the seasonal fruits, and was half expecting to get some fruit that had been cut up and a cream dumped on top. This made me wonder why it was taking so long, when all of a sudden this work of art appeared before me. Now I understood why it took longer that normal. I have to admit that it was one of the best breakfasts I had that week.

The pricing however was a bit steep. $27 for two coffees abd two above mentioned rolls. I cant say I've even paid this price in the city so I'll probably just grab my coffees from here and eat elsewhere. The staff were friendly and the chef came and had a chat with me. The next day I paid a little more attention and discovered that it was a coffee shop, however being opposite Thornbury I knew that if I were to get off the train to check it out I wouldn't be getting a seat (including a window seat) when I would get back on again. However, one Saturday morning, when I was heading into the city with a friend, I decided to jump off and check it out. I must say that I was pretty impressed. Okay the menu wasn't huge, but the staff were friendly and the coffee was nice (even if they forgot to add some milk). Okay, not wanting to give up my seat of a morning means that I'm not going to be hugely regular here, but it is a pretty decent place nonetheless.

I had the rosti & mushroom braise (couldn't put my fork down!) and she had the baked egg bubble & squeak (equally amazing!). Both our coffees were spot on - I had my usual skinny flat white, extra hot, actually one of the best I've had in terms of strength, smoothness and temperature (& quantity, no tiny cups here!). And she had a soy latte with double shot which was the perfect strength, yet smooth, and they'd heated the soy perfectly, which she mentioned not many places do well. I also had the fresh juice, combination of orange, apple and pineapple - freshness in a jar! We'll definitely be back!
