It's a shame that I felt it necessary to rate this restaurant as low as I did. The food was pretty good, but the service was quite the opposite.
I came with one friend and planned for another friend to meet us there. We were sat immediately and our friend joined soon after, but we were not talked to or looked at for the next 25 minutes. The restaurant had been steadily filling up, and there was only one waiter serving the entire downstairs dining area (upwards of 50 guests). After finally getting the attention of the only waiter, he came over and only said one word: "Oui?" He was, of course, very busy, but this seemed to us to be incredibly impolite, especially considering this was the very first time he had spoken to us. We ordered our food. Our food came out about 20 minutes after we ordered, but one of my small dishes was something I had not ordered. I was not able to get the attention of the waiter, so I told the host (?), and he was very nice and brought me the dish I had ordered. The food was good, but not the best Moroccan/Mediterranean food I have had in Paris.
However, one of my friends then tried to order some wine. She is not a great French speaker, so she tried, apologetically, asking in English. She then tried asking in French. She said she was sorry and asked if he understood, to which--much to everyone's shock--he replied, "OK Einstein," and walked away. He was not smiling, and there was no indication that this was a joke (not that that would be any more acceptable). He didn't even let her finish her sentence. This, to all of us, was completely unacceptable. Yes, we are in France, but it was not unreasonable of her to ask if he understood English. Even if he didn't, there is no way to justify how rude he was. It took forever to get our bill, and once we paid, we were unable to get the attention of the waiter, so we decided to just leave. Frankly, the abysmal service ruined any chance of enjoying our time here. read more
