If I could give this place 6 stars, I would. On December 22nd, our family lost our beloved step father. Shortly after that on December 25th, we lost our dearest grand mother. Both of them were battling Covid-19 and passed unfortunately so soon and so close to each-other. My mother, who was affected by this the most, loosing her husband and also her mother, needed all the support and guidance through this process In which ever way she could. She was recommended to Zapata from a close family friend and they were not only very professional, organized, empathetic yet selfless, but kind and such good hearted people. They reassured my mom through this process, offering her an ear of support through this. Giving her steps on how to grieve properly but also reassuring her on how understandable her emotions would be during this time, considering the two very tragic loses that happened so close to each-other. They made nothing difficult and everything comfortable, Especially Karina. Our personal opinion, their pricing was very affordable as well. I would recommend this place to anyone In San Joaquin area. When they did a viewing for my step father, they made him look as If.. he was still here with us. It looked as though he was sleeping and, also gave us Insight that he must have went peacefully because the way he passed he seemed to have a slight smile on his face with no indication of suffering. This gave my mom such relief and happiness In her heart knowing he wasn't and went with peace. Where do I begin! Ms. Rose is truly an angel sent from heaven. My Godmother Juanita passed away unexpectedly on 6/21/17 leaving me devastated and not sure how her final preparations would be carried out. My Godmother had a pre need however it was in another state attached to another funeral home. Although transferable deprecation and other fees was making that look nonexistent. Since I reside in another state I was unfamiliar with the local funeral homes. At the recommendation of a friend who briefly crossed my path I decided to give Zapata Funeral Home Stockton,CA a call. We had basically given up and settled on another location but this was more or less a last effort call that I made at midnight 2am my time since the website listed they were open 24 hours. Ms Rose answered the phone as if it was 8am on a Monday morning with the most soothing, empathic voice I was yearning to hear. Literally she warmed my heart, listened to my concerns and assured me Zapata's could take care of my Godmother. She proactively called the out of state funeral home to get the paperwork situated and booked an appointment at our convenience to take care of the authorizations and releases. I am happy to report that my Godmother is now in Zapata's care and I'm fully confident it's smooth sailing from here! One may say, "Of coarse you received good service. That's your family ." In my personal opinion, I believe it's even harder doing business with family. Because there's that connection, you want to work even harder to make sure everything is perfect. Zapata's Funeral Home is thankfully the place I chose to handle my mom's arrangements. They're very professional and deliver outstanding service. I had requested for them to allow me to apply her makeup due to my mom's fear of "looking like a clown" (her words), based on her feelings of how a few of her loved ones who have passed, appeared at their viewings. The day of her Rosary, I went in prepared to do my mom's makeup as I had promised her I would do, and to my surprise, she already looked beautiful. All I needed to do was fix her hair and apply a little lipstick. The young lady that handles the departed's appearances, did an absolutely wonderful job. It may seem that I am putting too much importance on this matter, however those were my mother's wishes which I was determined to fulfill. I am so glad I chose Zapata's to handle her arrangements, and would highly recommend them to anyone facing the sad task of laying a loved one to rest. Thank you to the staff at Zapata's. When a loved one has passed away unexpectedly it is so terribly hard to deal with the loss and with the issue of burial and the expenses that go with it. This is a rather small Funeral Home but I can say they are the very best here in Stockton. The owner Gabriel is most accommodating, sincere, understanding and honest. Based on my canvassing their pricing is the lowest in town and their service is just great bar none. It is by the grace of God that we found this place and was able to bury my younger brother properly with the meager fund that we had at hand after two weeks of looking. The other funeral homes were just trying to gouge us with exorbitant prices.and unheard of items that is was so sad how other funeral homes take advantage of you when you are overwhelmed with grief and are your deepest and lowest end. I would not trust any other Funeral Home here in Stockton, I have called and dealt them all. They treat you like family and I love how the reference my dad as if he was their dad. Gabe, Corina, and David did an amazing job with my dad. My dad passed away while on vacation in Mexico they help me make arrangements to bring him back and get buried here. They went the extra mile for our family to make the funeral service beautiful. A few months ago we lost a daughter.It was a really difficult and confusing moment for us. A friend recommended Zapatas Funeral Home for the services. Karina greeted us and sat with us. And explained the whole process from beginning to end. She answered all our questions. She was patient with us as far as us making decisions and planning the funeral. We expressed what we wanted and she made it happen for a reasonable price. We are so grateful to her for attention to detail. She is very professional young woman who knows how to treat a grieving family. My daughter left an eight year old daughter and after the funeral Karina went as far as getting her a stuffed animal and making sure that my granddaughter received it to help her cope with the loss of her mother. I am very fortunate to have chosen to go with Zapata Funeral home for my father's funeral services. Gabriel is very knowledgeable and experienced with out of country transportation, which was my father's last wishes. He was very patience with my siblings and I when explaining the entire process and answering our questions. I will be forever grateful to the Zapata funeral home in the handeling on my mother's funeral services. Karina in particular handled my mom with a velvet touch.
