Colonial Rose lied about pricing multiple times. They tried to add additional costs, $1,150 plus another $300, multiple times even after we had agreed on price and total and signed the contract. They tried to short me two entire hours of my loved one's funeral service and ended up shorting me only one hour after I complained. At the planning meeting I informed them that I wanted to pay on assignment they agreed since that's one of the approved forms of payment they take. This was two weeks before the funeral. Then they proceeded to lie and say that my loved one's life insurance company didn't allow that type of payment and that I had no claim opened, but in reality they were the ones to call the insurance company and specifically say they were refusing the payment on assignment and wanted to be paid up front. And not wait the obligatory 20 days. When I informed them that I didn't have a way to pay them in cash which is why I chose the payment on assignment option they said "well if there's no payment there's no funeral or cremation" only a couple days before the funeral. They made it seem like they were holding my loved one's body hostage and only cared about their money. So not only was I dealing with the devastation of losing my loved one now I had to scramble to find cash to cover the costs since they will charge 3% for using a credit card. They lied multiple times to my face and they were very inconsiderate and lacked training. The only employee that I have nothing bad to say about was their receptionist Dylani. She was always very helpful and thoughtful. And then as a cherry on top Lenny the funeral director signed the guest book before any of the family or guests did. I was very irked by that because he wasn't family or a friend and signed it as a business card. read more

Definitely recommend. The whole process of losing a loved one and then, having to make decisions and arrangements for a funeral is tough and at times, agonizing. From the moment we met Amber, we felt comfortable. My dad lost the love of his life after 66 years of marriage and is heartbroken. Amber made the whole process of making decisions easy for him! The whole process was simple and she made it carefree for us. We also worked with Elaina and Dylani. Everyone worked so well with us especially when we had to make edits to the death certificate and the obituary amongst on the spot decisions on the day of service that my brother and I had to make. They all were so patient and understanding of us as we were in pain and grieving. Also, the embalmer made my mom look beautiful and they added a veil to her casket for the viewing which added a special touch. While we set our own funeral program, Amber and the rest of the staff was there by our side to make sure everything was accomplished. They helped pin the boutonnières on the pallbearers and helped with the timeline of procession to the burial after ceremony after the reception. I couldn't have asked for a better execution of the timelines as we had to drive almost an hour to the cemetery. We were able to have Athena the service dog visit and the FB live worked well for our relatives overseas! Also, I recommend renting the reception room. They provided coffee, tea, and water. We added breakfast in the morning and charcuterie foods for after the service. Super convenient for those that were not going to the burial. Also, some people and kids were not comfortable with the viewing so it was a safe place to hang out. Plus, perfect for a family reunion with people you haven't seen in years! Such a smart idea to have this room. The price of funeral was reasonable. I love this staff. The home itself is beautiful and I love the chandeliers. It was a perfect environment to feel the love everyone has for my mom and our family. Also, service to the burial was great. Amber had my dad ride with her in the hearse. That was super nice for my dad. She was really great with him and helped to lift his burdens. At the burial, everything was executed well and done professionally. Thank you! read more

This place did such a great job handling the affairs for my mom's memorial. What I appreciated is that they are as hands on as you ask them to be. If you simply can't deal with the details, they will handle it all. If you had everything already planned, they'll just facilitate. They have a list of vendors that they prefer but don't force. We went with their preferred vendor for flowers but we ordered from another and it went smoothly. We opted to use the garage space outside for a reception. It worked out great and prevented us from having to organize another leg of the funeral. The pricing is VERY competitive with others in the area. Stephen was also a dream to work with. He was so understanding and empathetic. He didn't push anything and made sure we were aware of all options. He even went so far to help rearrange the flowers that were the focal point in the chapel because they must have shifted in transit. The day of went so smoothly. The only hiccup we had was a missed song cue but that was seriously it. This place was also renovated recently and they did it right. It's so beautiful inside. I am so glad that I chose Colonial Rose for my mother's home going. The funeral director David M, and the manager Angie, were amazing, and supported my sister and I through the process. David & Angie (Da'Angie) were patient and understanding, treating us with quiet compassion and care, even when there was some delay in very important details. In selecting a place for the service, we visited 10 funeral homes, and Colonial Rose is by far the most beautiful. We urged David to take "Crematory" out of the name because the venue is nice enough to host all sorts of events, including a top notch wedding. Da'Angie helped us make sure that every detail was in place for 200ppl in less than a week. They were extremely flexible in accommodating to our cultural needs. We loved that the service was live streamed so that our out of country family members could watch. The outdoor repast/meal was also beautiful, the weather was perfect and I think the outdoor location helped lift everyone's spirits. Pros ~ Price is competitive with larger venues in the area. ~ By far the most beautiful venue. ~ Excellent tech options, including online streaming, a basic website for condolences, donations, and flowers. ~ Space for funeral and repast/meal in same location (indoor or outdoor.) ~ Outdoor option for repast/meal was beautiful. ~ David and Angie (they are sooooo nice and helpful.) ~ Lots of parking on site. ~ Very flexible with allowing us access to the space for setup. ~ They have tables and chairs on site so we didn't have to rent much. ~ They allowed us to use lower cost options outside of their offering to make our funeral more affordable. Cons ~ Programs are not great, so we made our own. ~ Didn't get return addresses for all the people who sent flowers. ~ We did our repast/meal in the outside structure and there was some weird spray paint on the cinderblock walls. My mother passed away in March 2017. We visited numerous funeral homes in the Stockton area. The interior of this funeral home is by far the nicest that we saw. It has a beautiful home feel with antique furnishings. We really wanted a venue that could accomodate our large group for both the service and repast. CR doesn't have a banquet room but David suggested a creative solution, to covert the large garage into a banquet space. David found vendors for us to rent tables, and linens. We also added tents for additonal seating space. We decorated the space ourselves. David and Angie were awesome to work with through the whole process. They were very attentive to our needs. During the week leading up to our service, they responded promptly to all inquiries via text, phone and/or email. It was an extreemly busy week for them but they treated us with great care. I was so distraught and still trying to reconcile that I was with my husband at the hospital the night before but now, in the blink of an eye, he was gone. It is important when you have to make major decisions under stressful situations that you deal with professionals. My appointment with Mr. Massey was on-time and I was greeted and treated with the utmost care. He explained every part of the process as he gathered information he needed to prepare my husband's final arrangements. He gave me his undivided attention when I needed to reminisce, at certain moments in our conversation about my dearly departed. He was sympathetic and understanding. He calmed me and helped me to get through it. I liked, too, how the website has a document that lists the services they offer along with the pricing. It was a relief to walk in, knowing the approximate costs I'd be paying based on my selections. The grounds and offices were immaculate and beautiful. I, like other reviewers, felt as if I was not alone ... the staff kept me informed from start-to-finish about the number of death certificates generally needed; options to purchase an urn (other than the basic one that comes with the cremation package) and about the intricacies of transporting human remains (I couldn't use just any service and declarations needed to be signed). They made it so easy because they can handle that for you, too! There was a small hiccup (nothing at all to do with Colonial Rose Chapel & Cremation) in the paperwork process that created an unnecessary delay. Again, I was notified prompted and kept abreast of the situation and that they were working with the responsible party to get it resolved. Devin was especially pleasant and professional. I chose cremation because that is what my husband wanted. That option was very affordable. It was a relief to know that the package I selected was affordable and now I can transport him to his family for a dignified service/memorial where he will be placed alongside his dearly departed mother. I can't say enough about the care and professionalism shown by Lenny and the Colonial Rose team. My grandmother passed earlier this month and they saw to everything! He took the time to explain the services and processes and what we could expect. Since my family is from the East Bay the service and burial took place in Concord, I distance I feared would be an issue, expensive at least. Not with these guys. They were there early, had grandma beautifully prepared and set up before anyone else arrived. They stayed for the services, offering condolences to the family and assisting in any way they could. They then transported her to the cemetery for burial which they again stayed for.
