Safe to say I didn't have high hopes after reading most of the yelp reviews. Good and bad both commented on lengthy waits for food. Food was quick to come out, service was good and no rude interactions with management. I will however agree that it is expensive for a burger place. We paid $129.50 for 3 people. That's 3 burgers (all with extras added), ze chips (loaded chips) to start, 4 beers and one coke. Beers are all over $10 and the cheapest burger we ordered came to $20, no side of chips included. The venue is quite dark and spacey with marijuana the wall feature of choice. In their defence, as my brother pointed out, the size of the lot would probably have outrageous rent and obviously the ability to sell alcohol would affect their costs. My Chew by Chew burger was delicious. Similar taste to a Whopper with cheese. Two pressed wagyu patties, double cheese and bacon with smoked jalapeños added and health (lettuce and tomato). I loved the heat from the chilli and the melted cheddar tasted sooo good. It had some of the greasy taste from the patties. The coke/beer glasses were interesting. There's a new burger joint Ze Pickle, which hails from the Gold Coast. They have a great location in Surry Hills with craft beer on tap and other various drinks. This place is for fatties because they don't even have Diet Coke or Coke Zero. Today was their first lunch service so even though the kitchen was packed and it took an hour to get our food, that's to be expected. I grabbed the Double Double with a bit of health (lettuce & tomato.) The burger is just OK, but the venue is great. The double here is a pretty good size, so if you're hungry this will do the job, just note that fries don't come with the burger. The bun is a very subtle brioche bun, which is good and bad. It holds everything together and didn't fall apart, but I didn't pay much attention to it either. The toppings here are great, the bacon was sweet, savoury, and fatty, hitting the triumvirate of deliciousness, and the zp sauce is just awesome. The "health" is kind of just thrown in there and same goes for the cheeze, with cheeze being pretty good. The beef was the biggest let down for the burger. The patties are big but they're on the dry side and don't taste like much. They also use a much leaner patty than I would like. Some more seasoning and the beef could be much better. read more

Nicest staff in Sydney, cool venue, good food and great drinks. As a Canadian in Sydney I find that the staff at restaurants here can often be a bit hit or miss. Sometimes it feels like they are annoyed at every customer interaction and sometimes they are so friendly and even the owner stops by your table. Oh wait, that's only happened once, it happened at Ze pickle. Adam is super friendly and our waiter was awesome. He recommended a beer that I loved and my friend even requested a sauce on the side which can be like the be all that ends all but not at Ze pickle. We had the loaded fries (forget the actual name) and we got sweet potatoes instead and not only was that fine, it wasn't even an additional charge. I shared the trio loco and my other friend got the 3am. It was all delicious although the trio loco is probably not something I could handle again (3 patties, cheese, bacon, pulled pork or maybe brisket, slaw, onion rings, jalapeños between 2 grilled cheeses...it never ends. I definitely had the burger sweats but it was an experience to say the least. The decor was cool too, there are burlap sacks on the walls that appear to be the ones that they sell the legalized marijuana in down in America. My only note is that the patties themselves could be slightly more epic but I'll be back for sure....once I eat many salads. Visit it for sure! read more

Queensland burgerlords doing their thing in Sydney... Mad props for having burgers that are so funky fresh. The donut burger and the pablo escoburger are so crazy. They're not the best tasting burgers but I'd gladly eat it again cause it's so crazy. (maybe not the donut burger, it was way too sweet with the sugar glazed donut and the maple bacon) Really nice atmosphere with great tunes. The cocktails are actually really good. Not normally a fan of cocktails but they were very good. read more

I was pleasantly surprised with Ze Pickle in the grand scheme of burgs. The restaurant is dark and moody but cool vibes at the same time and has complete table service which was a nice change for a burger chain. I shared Ze Chips with my boyfriend and they were crispy and piled high with a massive amount of spring onions, chopped smoky bacon and melted cheese - DELISH! I highly recommend. I also ate the Cheez-e burger which was a tender beef patty, cheese and a really great sauce. The "health" mentioned on the menu is tomato and lettuce and the burger was juicy and dripping; this lead my buns to be a bit soggy but all in all the amazing flavours were worth the mess. read more

Good burgers! Ordered the Mexican one and vegetarian one with great flavor. Be careful because the Mexican one is a little spicy but in a good way. The atmosphere is very loud so be warned. And you only get one glass of water, so use it wisely :) would recommend, for burgers and probably also drinks if you don't want to hear conversation. read more

Ok, the burgers here are awesome and seriously large. They take FOREVER to arrive though, and the place wasn't even that busy. There's a long list of beers as well even if a little expensive...not that I had any - everyone else at my table kept downing them - so I shall assume they were good. Ze Pickle has been on my 'to visit' list for a while. Huge burgers, drinks and insane desserts, all with interesting choice of names! I got the "yo mum" burger which was a brioche style bun with a Wagyu patty, cheese, fries (yes on the burger), truffle flavour, bacon (an addition) and of course, a pickle! It wasn't as big as the pictures appear but it was delicious. I enjoyed it a lot. They have other options like vegetarian, chicken, pulled pork and other meat combos. There's also loaded fries, wings and incredibly crazy chocolates topped desserts, one called "whothef#%^is max Brenner". It was table service, but seemed to take forever to order, and ask for the bill, they needed another staff member on I believe. They are also a bar, serving beer on tap, cocktails and an interesting range of cocktails too. Come for the burgers and get some add ons. read more

The good: the burgers were amazing, decor is funky and interesting The bad: our four burgers took 45 minutes to come out, while multiple Togo orders were filled first. When we ordered, our waiter asked each of us "jalapeños?", and then were charged $3 each for jalapeños which we wouldn't have ordered had it been made clear that they were not included. The manager was very rude when we asked for the charge to be removed. He implied that we were stupid for not realizing that jalepenos were extra when it is not written on the burger page of the menu and was not stated clearly by our waiter. Go for the Ya Mum burger and you won't regret it! Wagu beef, beer cheese, truffle butter, fries ON the burger! It's one of the best burgers I've ever had! And if you go in the afternoon they give you the fries combo for free! Atmosphere is decent, the marijuana paraphernalia is a bit odd, but the garage doors open to the street and the fresh air is lovely! Good beer selection too! read more

Six friends and I ate here on a super hot Sunday night. I got the k f ze which I thought was good although a little bland, 2 got the 3am which they said was great, 1 had the pablo escoburger which got an ok (more of a misread of the menu, expecting a party rather than minced meat), 1 had the king Jong illest which got a good and 1 got the pecan wood smoked brisket which got an average (brisket wasn't as tender as expected and the burger was incredibly messy to eat). We also had the kumera fries (yum) and buffalo chicken waangs (could take or leave these). The highlight for me was the Hubba bubba hubba cocktail which, if you are a fan of grape hubba bubba, is a must have! The beers/ciders were rather expensive - $11-12. Being there at 5pm on a Sunday meant that the restaurant was empty. The service was friendly and the restaurant has a fun vibe. If you sit against the wall though, watch out for the drawer handles behind your head (they hurt!!) read more

This place has dived I've always raved about this place, my first experience was amazing. Sadly, that's over as of tonight. Got the chee-ze tonight. Wholey misrepresented by the name. There was cheese? Could have fooled me. I couldn't even taste the cheese. The bread was borderline stale. Onion straws, what are they? Cos I didn't get them. Had ordinary pan sautéed onion, nothing like so called fried onion straws. I couldn't finish the second half of my burger I got so bored with it. Says me who eats for the fun of it. All in all, Macca's tastes better. So embarrassed I ever rated this place to my friends. Photos may look appealing but the food is so drenched in fat, it's almost inedible. In fact I left most of my food on the plate. Service was good. Sweet potato chips & cocktails are great but overpriced. I booked online for Saturday evening a few days in advance, and called the morning of to ensure the booking request had gone through. Both times the booking was confirmed. When my partner and I turned up at our booked time we were told with no apology to wait at the bar until there was a table, the hostess said it could be anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour. I understand busy Saturday nights, but this is why I booked in the first place! Please do not accept bookings if you have no intention of honouring them. It was obvious no attempt had been made to plan for pre booked tables. We went elsewhere. read more
