We had them cater our wedding in June and Adelaide was a joy to work with and answered all of our questions, broke down options, was patient, etc. She was a rockstar the entire time and even though she was not there for our wedding, the rest of the staff did amazing. They made sure we ate and got drinks on time. Dinner was amazing and appropriately hot for all of our guests. The substitutions we wanted were there and the wine we set to the side for us as the bride and groom was served to us without any hassle. Everyone was friendly and did a fantastic job. I'm still hearing about how professional and ready everything was from having cocktails ready and mocktails for guests before they even needed to go to the bar. I'm also still hearing about the focaccia bread that was served during cocktail hour. You cannot go wrong with Zeffert and Gold. I loved the option to take home or donate food that was leftover. We cannot thank Matt Gold and his delightful team enough for the outstanding service we received for our wedding this past Valentine's Day (about five days ago). Not only was EVERY plate and EVERY drink excellent (thanks to our event manager, Kim!!!!), but even from the very beginning, Zeffert & Gold helped us orchestrate the whole wedding to be its best self. We could not have done it without Matt. He was kind, generous, and so thoughtful and full of care in every response, from a simple email to a big email to an in-person meeting. Even some of our silliest ideas didn't feel so ridiculous--like using cocktail swords for every app or including a "virgin martini" on the signature drinks menu (it was an olive in a cup)--it was so amazing to see everything come to life!!!! And Matt and my fiancé came up with an idea to incorporate special grilled cheeses into our apps menu, directly referencing our first date!!!!! and the Zeffert & Gold baker purchased a heart shaped cake pan just for us!! Z&G really helped us bring our dream wedding to life, they understood our vision and helped build it out and execute it. And Matt was very familiar with our venue--much more familiar than we were--and had very helpful floorplans for us to reference when doing seating charts! It was such a good idea to have the ceremony on the first floor and cocktail + reception both on the third floor. We would have never known unless Matt hadn't weighed in and shared his expertise and experience!!! AND THE PROFESSIONALISM--Matt was on time for every walk-through, every call, every meeting--way ahead of us every time, for sure. We also have to give a shoutout to our special server, Coren, who was so delightful!!! We really enjoyed our time with her! Sorry Coren, I totally would have chugged that glass of prosecco if my mom hadn't said no! The food was so good, and we have been enjoying the leftovers immensely. Especially the bread pudding. Zeffert & Gold was one of the caterers that were recommended to us by our wedding venue, but after doing a ton of research and talking with several caterers in the area, it was an easy decision because Zeffert & Gold were simply the best. I was coordinating my wedding in Annapolis from Los Angeles, so I was a little nervous managing the process at first. They simplified everything and were readily available, even during the peak of wedding season. Their customer service blew me away and they were extremely accommodating. All you really need to do is figure out what kind of setup you want and it's easy from there. We decided to do a station set up for our wedding because we loved all the menu options. It's a bit daunting with all the selections, but I really appreciated that everyone there offered their opinion on their favorite food items and the most popular, too. We set up a tasting appointment and it ended up being the owner that hosted us that day. He was great and made it a fun experience. We were really impressed by the menu we tasted and decided to sign the dotted line. After the tasting menu, I worked mainly with Samantha and she was also there on our wedding day. She was absolutely fantastic. But, that's not really the information you want to know, right? They're a caterer--you want to hear about their delicious food! Well, that I can do! For our menu, keep in mind we had a couple vegans in our family, we started the cocktail hour with the crab dip (OMG SO AMAZING), shrimp & grits spoon (BOMB), Chicken Tikka Masala (so tasty), charcuterie board, brie en brioche (Yes, you need this one!), Juicy Lucy's (who doesn't love a good slider), General Tso's cauliflower (delicious vegan option), and seasonal veggies with hummus & ranch. We also upgraded to the fresh oyster shucker during the cocktail hour and it was a HUGE HIT!!!! For dinner, we had 3 stations. They were super accommodating when we asked if we could swap around some of the options, but for the most part we kept to the station options. We did the Pampas Grill station (Lamb, chicken, warm potato salad and veggies), Short Rib station (short rib, roasted beet salad and baguette) and we upgraded to the Charm City Short Plate station (crab cakes were the best, caprese salad and tasty tater tots). The food was absolutely incredible. We had so many people tell us that it was the best food they've ever had at a wedding. My grandfather is from Baltimore, so he's kinda my gauge with crab cakes and he LOVED them, so if you're a fan, you should definitely get them. And what's a wedding without awesome drinks to keep the partying going!? Well, they did an amazing job here, too. We're wine and whiskey nerds, so we wanted to supply the alcohol, but I couldn't do it without Samantha. She helped us figure out how much of everything we needed for the wedding and our pre/post wedding events, even though they were not bartending the other two events. She really went above and beyond. When I was indecisive on the drinks she sent me a list of recommended beverages to help inspire me. When I finally made a decision, she figured out the best way to pull everything together. They used very fresh ingredients, made their own syrups and recommended the glasses that would look best. I posted a picture of the menu for our signature cocktails we chose and the set up at the bar. Needless to say, everyone had a blast and loved the drinks they served up. I just wish we could have partied all night. From the very start until we closed down the night, Zeffert & Gold were incredible. My wedding came together exactly as I envisioned and that would not have happened without Samantha and her team. Not only do they go above and beyond to deliver the best food, make sure all the little details look fantastic, but they are experienced and it makes everything run like clockwork. I wish I lived closer, so I could hire them for all my events. They were a breeze to work with, served our guests amazing food and delivered outstanding customer service. Wow. Cannot say enough wonderful things about Zeffert and Gold at our wedding. They helped make the day seamless and an absolute joy. Took all of the stress out of the day. Matt was easy and wonderful to work with before the wedding. He responded quickly to all of our questions and was always a pleasure. On the wedding day itself, they went above and beyond. They had a server who attended to my husband and I, asking before the ceremony what we would like to drink after the ceremony and throughout the night and would find us and bring us drinks all night. They also brought us food to make sure we ate, brought us dessert, and brought us appetizers while we were taking pictures/mingling. The food was delicious. Highly recommend the short rib station and the general tsao cauliflower appetizer. Our guests commented on how yummy the food was (including a bunch of foodies who were hard to please) and also commented on how nice the stations were so they could get up and see people throughout the meal. Zeffert and Gold kept us on schedule for the whole night, reminding us to come to cut the cake, and they were flexible when we wanted to push the wedding timeline back by 10 minutes. At the end of the night, they loaded the excess alcohol in our car for us. They even gave us a big bag of food so we could try everything once we got home. We had a phenomenal experience with Zeffert and Gold and couldn't imagine our wedding day without them. My wife, Michelle, and I got married at Oxon Hill Manor in Oxon Hill, Md., and we can't thank Zeffert & Gold enough for all they did to make the day unforgettable! Amie, Kim, Aaron and the rest of the team were incredibly responsive, helpful and attentive from our original wedding plans in Baltimore through our pivot to a nearby D.C. wedding. However, a month before our tasting date they informed us they would be "unable to perform [our] tasting" because another couple had booked them. Zeffert and Gold was one of the best choices my wife and I made when we chose our vendors for our wedding. We worked primarily with Matt, and he was exceptionally accommodating and helpful throughout the entire planning process. When I requested a specific beer two days before the wedding date, knowing that such a last minute request might not be able to be fulfilled, Matt stepped up and ensured that we had the beer in hand on my wedding day and that a special stock was kept aside for my wife and I. In regards to service on our wedding day, Zeffert and Gold's team led by Jess was beyond exceptional. Jess constantly checked in with my wife and I to make sure we had food to eat and a drink in hand so we could spend more time mingling with our guests. And when my wife's dress had a minor malfunction, Jess helped my wife get her dress repaired quickly so she could get back out on the dance floor. Jess and her team ensured that we had a stress free and fantastic wedding reception. As far as the food goes, you're likely going to hear from multiple people that you're not going to even remember the food you had on your wedding day, but if you go with Zeffert and Gold, I assure you that will not be the case. Between the appetizers and the main meal, my wife and I have both casually mentioned to each other since our wedding day that we'd kill to enjoy them again. For vegetarians and vegans, they offered a Vegan Crab Cake that was so good, I *almost* contemplated getting that instead of the beef tenderloin. The food was that good. Zeffert and Gold were the caterer for my son's wedding in November, 2022. The bride and groom worked with Matt to handle the planning. He did an amazing job creating a wedding menu to accommodate exactly what the couple wanted - even accommodating some special requests from the bride and groom for their big day. We used Zeffert and Gold for our May 2021 wedding at the American Visionary Art Museum (AVAM) in Baltimore and they were AMAZING! Cannot say enough good things about them. They were recommended to us by AVAM since they do a lot of events there, and we were on a time crunch with re-planning the wedding last minute due to COVID, so we saw their reviews and went with them. We worked with Matt Gold throughout the process, who is AWESOME. He is so responsive and on top of everything, we felt so at ease despite all of the craziness of re-planning last minute. He answered all of our questions thoroughly and was always super honest and realistic with us. All of the food we tried at our tasting was delicious. We ended up going with a dual plate (salmon and filet) with orzo and veggies, had several options for the passed and display appetizers, and did mid-tier open bar for about 200 guests. Pricing was very reasonable and competitive. They were also super accommodating with the kid menu, guests with allergies, and had a great vegetarian/vegan option too. All of our guests raved about the food (and still are!), and we keep talking about how we wished they had a restaurant so we could just go eat there whenever we want to since it was so good :) They also do part of the event coordinating on the day of, which was a huge plus. We had Matt Cobleigh on the day of, who went above and beyond. He made sure we ate and drank, kept us in line with our tight schedule and was overall a joy to work with! We used Zeffert and Gold Catering for our wedding on 11/5/22 at the Frederick Douglass-Isaac Myers Maritime park. We worked with Lisa Schatz and her team and they were PHENOMENAL. Our guests could not stop talking about how it was some of the best food they have had at a wedding. Lisa and her team were so knowledgable about the venue which was three stories tall and a lot of moving parts. I felt comfortable working with them the whole time. The dinner service was so smooth and we were so excited when we returned to our hotel after the wedding and saw they had packed us a goody bag with two meals and appetizers that we may have missed during the day. They had also provided us our own tray of appetizers in our 5 minute break before we joined our cocktail party. They servers and bartenders were incredible too. They checked in with us constantly and made sure we had what we needed as well as our guests. The bartenders were incredible and were even dancing with us throughout the reception. I'm actually posting this review ahead of my event. Our wedding isn't until May 2018, but my fiance and I booked with Zeffert & Gold back in April 2017. Iris and her entire team have been absolutely amazing to work with. They are extremely responsive and have never made me feel as though I was asking too many questions (even though I probably have). Iris goes above and beyond on any request. Oh, and their menu options are great. They have a wide variety and will even make special dishes/modifications upon request. We asked for a lemon buerre blanc sauce that wasn't on their menu to pair with our pan-seared chicken breast, and they executed it perfectly for our tasting. When I walked in the venue, I was stunned to see all the tables set up and decorated. a LOT of my guest raved about how perfect the food was. It was plated very elegantly and the beef that I had was just 100% perfect. And the salmon looked it was cooked to perfection also. I have worked directly with Monroe Zeffert many times- there is not a harder working person in business, let alone in catering. He's a true "mensch"- his staff work so hard. The food is delicious ( my kids make me order 2 dozen matzoh balls FOR EACH OF THEM each time they cater for us!!!). I adore that they offer party leftovers to the customer first, and donate the rest to a soup kitchen to feed the hungry. Everything they do is first class, and we are "foodies." Working with Iris and the team at Zeffert and Gold was one of the best decisions we made when planning our wedding. Our goal was to have a warm, elegant wedding with tasty food and wonderful service. Did I mention we also wanted to stay within budget? Finding Iris and her team was like taking a breath of fresh air. The people we met at Z&G really cared about us and wanted to make sure everything was perfect. Iris was always two steps ahead and made sure even the smallest details were taken care of. She kept in contact with us in the days and weeks leading up to the wedding, and on the day of everything went off without a hitch. Our guests loved the food and the presentation was worthy of a 5-star restaurant. Our family and friends felt like VIPs and had so many wonderful things to say. We asked for a special family recipe to be included at one of the stations and it was absolutely perfect, just like my great-grandmother used to make. (05/09/2012) Have only ever used Z&G for low budget company events. Price is right, usually around $29/head for continental breakfast, coffee all day, hot buffet lunch. Also, they're one-stop shopping if you're doing a business meeting or conference (AV/tech/supplies), so they're convenient. Food meets expectations (expectations were similar to the workplace cafeteria). Standard dry banquet chicken breast with a strange fried-then-sauced soggy coating, but actually did like the few shreds of sauteed artichoke, might've found a cube of mushroom or two. The salad was the hit of the day; vinaigrette was sweet tart flavorful, accented with salty feta cheese nuggets and chewy sweet dried cranberries, but heavily dressed. Chose cheese tortellini with pesto as a meatless entree; pesto seemed to have been made with dried basil instead of fresh. Vegetables were plain, dressed with butter substitute; roasted potatoes were just that, but liked the mix of sweet and starchy potatoes. Staff are always very accommodating, willing to help troubleshoot, very nice and polite. The venues we get always seem to have the same 2 catering options, and we alternate between the two depending on pricing, so will probably end up with these guys again eventually. read more

My fiance and I are getting married next June, and I had met Matt from Zeffert and Gold at a Open House for the Cloisters and immediately knew he and Z&G were must haves for our wedding. Their food was far superior to any of the others we tried, and the presentation was amazing too. Plus we could tell right off the bat that Matt was genuinely passionate about what he does. A few months ago, I needed a caterer for an office event, and immediately hired Matt. We have had other local, highly rated caterers do events at our office but none have compared to what Z&G delivered! They put so much care into what they do; even when it's a smaller scale event and budget. They were a much better value than the competition and my the next day my boss said he received calls and emails from more than half of the guest, each remarking about how great the food was. And in his words "people never talk about the food! You're going to have a great wedding!" Matt brought Tim and Justina to service our event and they were just as concerned with the details and dedicated to making the event a success. They were hard working and lovely people. Let me continue the parade of stars for Zeffert and Gold catering. We used Z and G for our daughter's bat mitzvah - honestly, this was the first time we had planned anything like this, and we found about Z and G through word of mouth in Howard County. We initially emailed them and worked with Elaine to arrange both the luncheon after the service as well as an evening party at Ten Oaks Ballroom (which, FYI, Zeffert and Gold is one of two approved caterers for this facility). From the very start, Elaine was outstanding. She answered every email, took every phone call, and addressed every single issue with the utmost professionalism. We could not have asked for a better person to help us through the anxious but exciting process of planning a Bat Mitzvah. For those who may be wondering about some other details, we did have a tasting at Zeffert and Gold's offices, which was very helpful and also extremely well done. We did meet with Elaine one more time prior to the affair to go over meal timing, room décor, etc., and she was amazing in terms of covering the details required for a successful party. And let's talk about the food. What can I say that the other Yelpers haven't already said? Well, my family (you know, the New York-New Jersey types) are very tough critics - in fact, some of them ran a Jewish-style restaurant in New York City for over 30 years. They RAVED about everything. The luncheon was near flawless (there was a small issue with some of the baked goods, which we relayed to Elaine who was appropriately apologetic - we learned that Z and G uses a particular baker for these things - in the grand scheme of things, not a big deal) and my 70 something parents, who have been to A LOT of bat mitzvahs and do not give praise easily, gave glowing reviews about both lunch and dinner. In short, the food was nothing short of phenomenal. And the service was equally outstanding, unintrusive, and completely professional. The folks at Zeffert and Gold put a tremendous amount of time and effort into putting together a first-rate party and it clearly showed for us. For anyone in the Baltimore/DC area, we could not recommend Zeffert and Gold more highly. Our biggest fear - since we have another Bar Mitzvah coming up - is that we set the bar so high with this caterer that we could not possibly have a better party in the future - which is a very good problem to have! We used Z&G for our wedding outside Baltimore. I couldn't have found a more easy going, helpful and friendly caterer to work with than Matt. I was a disorganized, out-of-state bride and he walked me through all the decisions I had to make with great suggestions and no pressure. He was efficient with my not-huge budget (with no surprises), and answered all my last minute questions quickly. The set up was lovely, the service was great, the food was attractive and delicious (mashed potato bar!), and the whole thing went very smoothly thanks to Matt (it was like getting a wedding planner along with a caterer!). Due to unusual circumstances, we had only 48 hours to plan our event for 70+ people. Mr. Zeffert calmly organized everything in one phone conversation. The Kosher menu (meat w/ vegetarian options) was OUTSTANDING! Everyone raved about the food and ate heartily! The service was also excellent and the room was set up beautifully. When my daughter got engaged, she knew she wanted Zeffert and Gold as her caterer. She had worked with Monroe and his team when in high school, and was always impressed by the quality and the owners "hands on approach" at each event. She called Monroe and asked if he personally would be at her wedding, and he assured her he would. We went to a tasting, and had trouble narrowing down our appetisers to just 10 (although we could have added more) if we wanted). The main courses were so delicious we decided to give our guests their choice - Beef (in a peppercorn sauce), chicken marsala, and a veggie strudel. I eventually settled on the beef, but sampled each of the others at the wedding and found them delicious. The mark of a meal is wheter plates go back empty or half eaten. Even with the big appetizer selection (we extended it to 90 minutes), almost evey plate went back empty, and not because Zeffert and Gold skimped on quality. Good thing there was dancing after dinner to burn off those calories. I would never consider another caterer for large or small events - Zeffert and Gold is in a class by themselves. read more

Working with Iris and staff at Zeffert and Gold was truly one of the highlights of our wedding. We wanted a very specific menu (Italian and Maryland influences) and they totally delivered, even trying new recipes for us to consider for the event. Their staff are down to earth, flexible, and very pleasant - it was a joy to work with them. And of course, the food was plentiful and delicious! My guests could not stop talking about how amazing everything tasted. Iris even came up to my parents and parents-in-law several times throughout the night to make sure everything was to their liking. Even beyond the food (which really, was superb), Iris was an amazing partner in coordinating my wedding, helping to set out the decor, giving us advice on how to design the space, going above and beyond to keep us within budget, and packing up the leftovers for us to take home. We were blown away by the quality of food and service. Our wedding would not have been as successful if we were not working with Iris. She and the rest of Zeffert and Gold are incredible. There is no way that I could thank this company enough or recommend them highly enough. They are AMAZING! For my April 2014 wedding, I had a budget and they worked with it and gave me options rather than eye rolls. They provided amazing food including customized items that they had not previously made. I have since received many compliments that it was the BEST wedding food that many of our guests had ever had. Without a wedding planner and no prior experience doing such, I gained valuable advice from Monroe in every aspect of my arrangements. He was very diplomatic in all of his suggestions. At one point during our reception it became clear that the guests could not hear the band's announcement for upcoming toasts, so Monroe personally went to each table to pass it on. read more
