I've been seeing Joy for massages since 2013 and she's honestly the best masseuse I've ever had. She's extremely knowledgeable, is well certified in her career, and constantly excels to educate her on the latest and greatest massage techniques. During our sessions, she works hard on my tight knots and knows exactly my problem areas to focus on. Being a person who had pretty severe lower back pain from school/work, she nursed me back to health and gave me tips on how to stretch and work on my back at home. I ended up getting a foam roller too, and she gave me great tips to stretch on it. Making appointments: Just go online and check her calendar to find a time that works best with your schedule. You enter your email address and your number, and her system will automatically send you email reminders. Facilities: 3rd floor of an office building - there's a little water river/stream in the middle of the building, behind it there's an elevator. Take the elevator to the 3rd floor and make a right. Her room (suite 321) is right next to a CPA office. During your massage, she'll play soothing music and recommend various lotions for aromatherapy. I particularly like chamomile and mint scented ones, it makes it particularly relaxing. Massage: THE BEST, EVER. Period. I've seen a great deal of masseuses in my lifetime. I used to be part of Massage Envy and I would cycle between different people each time I went to the point where I had a track record for never having a set person. That all changed when I met Joy, she's the only person I trust for a massage. I deeply miss her now that I'm in Seattle, I don't know where I can find as good as a massage ever again. I do frequently come back to San Diego to visit, and whenever I do, I always book an appointment with her again! Overall: LOVE HER, she's the best, hands down. Came in for a much needed massage. When you arrive, it's a Wellness building and you take the elevator to the 3rd floor to suite 321. The door was open and Joy greeted me. The room is small, but adequate for the massage. Joy made me comfortable and during my massage I fell asleep. I normally get firm, Thai or deep tissue massage, but it's nice to have a therapeutic once in a while. The only minor issue I had was that I was able to hear people in the hallway since it's a shared business location. The hour went by pretty quick and at the end Joy provided some helpful hints about how to relieve some of the stress and tension in my neck and back. Nice relaxing massage! read more

Used my groupon today with Joy at Zen Temple Wellness. She is very, very good. As good or better than massages I received in the beach cabana's in Hawaii! I asked if we could work on all areas, especially the neck, shoulders and feet. Just a wonderful experience. You know when you have received a superior massage: You feel relaxed and sleepy and your body feels "loosey, goosey." Another couple things I liked about this massage: The oil she used didn't feel sticky or oily on my skin or into my hairline and the hot towel treatments on your back! Sigh... I really don't want to write this review because of you repeating clients take up all of my appointment times! The last thing I want to do is to refer more clients to Joy and I'll never get to book an appointment Ruth her. 5 stars, people, it's the real deal. Joy has more than a decade of experience which really shows from the moment you meet her to the time you leave. She helped me with my dominant shoulder which I abused through repetitive tasks from work and years of semi competitive tennis. I had deep tissue massages from her which alleviated my pain and extended my range of motion around my rotator cuff (helped my tennis tremendously). Her ability to feel and see muscles is amazing, she'd prod at areas in my back and ask me if it's tender, she gets it right every time! She helped me with my lower back, shoulder, neck, even my legs (itb inflammation from half marathon training).  I love her treatment so much I referred my wife for her neck and shoulder pain. We both got a package for 5 visits that we can share (just take it out of our account after each visit). She is not pushy on having you comeback, she lets her skills do the talking, you will want to come back.  Booking is hard because spots are filled up fast, I recommend getting a package and book ahead multiple days. I am a regular customer of Zen Temple Wellness. An update is in order 3 months has gone by. I hit a rough patch and i am always able to get in with Joy. She is compassionate and available. I am constantly seeing my own clients and working on myself and healing my own issues. When i get stuck i go see Joy. She is very intuitive and knows how to listen through the conversation and she gives feedback on insights that were in my blind spots. I really appreciate this. Also it is very important for me to receive touch therapy from her. I am very sensitive and deep massage is not uplifting for me. I'm not often motivated to write a Yelp review but this service definitely deserves it. The "Temple" is cosy and warm and comfortable. Joy is so much more knowledgeable than the average Massage Therapist. She truely is a master! And the cost is the same! The temple is in a nice office building just off the freeway with a parking lot. I have had cronic pain in my hip area due to a workout injury several years ago. I kept thinking if I go easy, it will heal but it kept getting worse and recently I just ached all the time even when trying to sleep! Joy listened to me and did her assessment and then she went to work. That evening I was amazed that I had no pain! She gave me some exercises to do ("homework") to help heal the area and keep the pain at bay. YAY Joy! You are a true professional and expert at what you do! Joy was a wonderful masseuse. She immediately identified my problem areas and gave them an excellent workout during our session. After the service, she gave me some recommendations to help me between bodywork sessions. It's not easy to find a masseuse who works well with your body.
