    Bale Dutung - Sisig delicious

This restaurant looked to be a home turned to a restaurant made of all old wood. It's located in a…read moreresidential community. That surprised me. There was only parking for 3 cars. Inside, they had a large long table for a big group and next to it a small pond and garden but no fish. Nicely decorated. It's like fine dining but out in the open; no AC especially, if it's hot. The ambience was nice for private parties. I believe you have to reserve per person here. It's not a regular restaurant you can just come to. They prepare the meal per person . The chef, I believe they are Kapampangan. Seems some famous people dine here so we were lucky to dine here. We were invited by family to this private luncheon at Bale Dutung in Angeles. I am sure it was expensive. It's about two hours from Manila. This restaurant is usually used for private party's or celebrations. The experience was nice and staff were very friendly and accommodating. As we received our dishes, the chef told us what it was we were eating. We had an eight course meal. The dishes were good and small portions but by the time we were done, I was very full! As for the food, I would rate it four stars. It's not your typical Filipino food I am used, to but I don't think I would eat like this again. I prefer the homemade style, and all at once and nothing fancy. That is just me. [17R, 2024]

The very good part that we like is your not rushing to eat you have all the time to catch up with ur family/ friends. You have to call and make a reservation, from Baguio going back to manila we were looking for a place to have a late lunch and we decided to go to Bale Dutung. The Wife of the Owner is really nice very entertaining and gave us the history of the place. They were so nice to let us just walk in and have lunch .

The first time I visited Matam Ih, I was expecting singing waiters dressed in native costumes:…read moresadly that is a thing of the past. Their main attraction now is their exotic dishes: goat, frog, mole cricket, crocodile, and even ostrich. My cousins were visiting from out of town, a couple of them even came all the way from the Middle East! They wanted to eat Kapampangan food, so naturally, I brought them here. Before entering, we had to show them our Covid vaccine certificates then we were led to a long table that would accommodate our big group. Dining is al fresco so no air con, just fans. We excitedly ordered the following: - Mango shake was good - Pinapaitang Kambing - goat in bile soup. I'm not a fan of pinapaitan in the first place; but my Ilocano dad would love this. Much better with a squeeze of kalamansi. - Kamaru - mole crickets. The crickets still had some crunch to them and were cooked in a delicious garlic soy based sauce. This was everyone's favorite dish. - Betute - field frogs stuffed with minced pork and deep fried. I didn't try this. - Fried Hito (catfish) with buru (fermented rice) - loved the catfish but didn't like the buru. - Pork sisig was ok. - Leche Flan was ok - Turon with home made buko ice cream was DELISH!!!!! The wait staff were dressed as safari guides. They were knowledgeable of their menu, which made ordering easier. After we enjoyed our meal, we walked over to The Paris Cafe to take pictures in front of a replica of the Eiffel tower. The Wooden Table and Cafe BOM are also located in the same compound. My family had a great time, I'm sure we'll be back to try their other exotic offerings.

I am a Filipino American; but I personally don't like to eat Filipino food when I go out to eat…read more Why? Because it's so much better when you have Filipino friends and family that can cook better, plus it's way too common here. I took out a friend's daughter and circumstances led us to The Wooden Table. I was going in blind and didn't get to do any research on this place, so I wasn't expecting much. It's a unique place because it's two restaurants (The Paris City Cafe and The Wooden Table) with two different cuisines (American/Italian and Filipino respectively), two different sets of staff (different colored uniforms distinguish the two); but the restaurants are physically connected in the middle, staff move between both sides AND you can order off of either menu no matter which side you're on. Both sides are decorated in warm wood tones and rich reds. The furniture has an old style elegance to them. There's book shelves scattered throughout both restaurants, and cozy arm chairs to relax in if you're not eating a meal. The Wooden Table serves up delicious Filipino food and decadent desserts from Planet Chocolate in a romantic and elegant atmosphere. Make sure to stop by the replicas of the Eiffel tower and their balcony for some memorable shots.
