I don't think we could have asked for a better experience. The room was very cozy and warm with a wonderful bed. Having coffee on the balcony looking out at the mountains was magical the next morning. They do an amazing job making you feel welcomed. They gave us a tour and explained everything perfectly. The back garden area is delightful and inviting, and the hot tub was perfect after a day of driving. Then we were able to cozy up by the fireplace inside with a glass of wine. And the breakfast! Holy cow, it was delicious! We were served amazing cream cheese jalapeno omelettes with raspberry and cheese crostinis. The coffee was even above and beyond what you'd find elsewhere. On top of all that, the building is on the National Historic Register. It was built originally by the famed Hearst family. The entire family who runs the place was so kind and welcoming. I get the hotel is only 2 floors, but if you're on the second floor and you have a lot of luggage, it's a bit of a pain. Yes, there's an elevator, but it almost always full of wet families. Our room faced the pool and that was a nightmare. Between the track racing down the hall that faced the pool and the noise, just terrible. Rooms are not at all soundproof. Toilets were small and low to the floor, not ideal if you're over 6 feet tall. At least got our squats in! Bed was hard and uncomfortable. No complimentary breakfast and the onsite restaurant just not great. Gets a star back because staff were friendly.
