Little that I know that the company that picked up the objects was taking to the dump as they said Habitat for Humanity could not re-sell them. To make things worse, I was charged several hundred dollars to have the items removed. The items were not junk, and could certainly have been enjoyed by persons in financial straits who cannot afford the high prices of new furniture.

I had asked them for 12 sheets of luan and they needed to be in good shape because I was using them on an exposed ceiling. The manager came over and I told him I needed them undamaged and he look at me with a very disrespectful stare and said that I was funny.... He was very ignorant and wasn't happy the staff were helping me. I checked over the luan that they pulled for me and a few were damaged and I didn't want to waste time having them put them back and get other ones so I told him I didn't want them and he can put them back. I just went to Home Depot and got the same thing in pristine condition for $0.50 more per sheet. They are overpriced there and management is horrible so goto another location or the Loading Dock in Baltimore. I buy stuff there and management is helpful and not ignorant.... He should be fired and never work in customer service or management of any type.... I hope he reads this. I am sure all of the staff know who I am talking about and they share my comment. Their donation hours are M-F noon-5pm. They take brand new or really clean, well-cared for used clothes, shoes, bags, etc. for kids and women. They have a shortage of such items because they are always running full. Your donations are going to strong-willed women who needed to flee in a moment's notice, often without anything of their own. We are so very fortunate in our lives that if my last year's Nordy blazer I wore twice helps one of these ladies land a new job and some independence, awesome. Sure, I could have sold the stuff on eBay but I'm HAPPIER bringing them here.

Apparently, Toolbank started out in Georgia at a local resident's house that lended out tools to people who needed them. Eventually, others found out about this resource, and it became community known. Home Depot and another company that is headquartered in Georgia offered to partner with this tool bank, and I suppose that was how the organization became at large and continuing to grow. In Baltimore, they lend tools and equipment to other places like the National Aquarium so you can see that they provide as a vital resource to the community. I think it's great that we have some thing like this in the area! Their Hammers and Ales was a great event and there were many valuable items being sold for the auctions, including a Cal Ripken signed baseball bat, Ravens football game tickets, and baskets full of hardware tools.
