From the road, the selection looked a little sparse a week before the holiday, but once in the lot we found 5-foot Douglas firs from $80, and 6-foot or more Frasiers from $110, fair prices this close to town. The friendly fellow was available for questions, and helped us prepare the tree we chose and get it into our SUV. We also got one of Lora's lovely hand-made wreaths with a festive red bow, from $35. And they gave me a candy cane "for the kids". Our car was deliciously piney on the drive home :-). Wayne took a look at it, said he'd do a proper cleaning out of the carburetor and could have it ready for me the next day. On my way home, I drove past Poplar Place hardware store and made a u-turn (illegally?) and pulled into their parking lot. I was in there for a few seconds and was able to find one of the pieces I needed. I walked to the counter and told the man in terribly inaccurate terms what I was trying to accomplish. He said "oh, sure!" And walked to their vast collection of adapters and brought me exactly what I needed. I am never going to any of the monstrous stores again.
